I came here for a lovely Valentine's day dinner and reservations are HIGHLY recommended! This is a Japanese teppanyaki and sushi restaurant. Teppanyaki is when the chef cooks the food on a metal plate in the middle of the dining table. Often the cooking seems like a performance.
Food: 4/5
We ordered the Sendai set menu (for teppanyaki). Overall, the food was very delicious! My favorites from the menu was the lobster and the rib eye rolls. The lobster is simply cooked in butter but it is the presentation that is outstanding. The meat is cooked and then served back in the lobster shell (and yes, the head is edible! and so delicious).
And of course, Teppanyaki fried rice is always a favorite. Since all the food is made in front of you, it is cooked quickly and delivered to you immediately.
They also serve sushi and from the looks of it, it seemed fresh and tasty.
Service: 5/5
Since the chef has to cook at the table, there was a long wait before our chef was ready. However, the staff here are super attentive. This is good service even by my American standards! The waitress was constantly at our table and making sure we had drinks, clearing dishes away, checking on us, etc.
Atmosphere: 5/5
Since the food is cooked at the table, these are large communal tables of about 8 seats. You can get to know your neighbors and chat with them. Overall, it was continuously packed with people and it was clear that without a reservation, you wouldn't be seated, so call ahead!
Value: 3/5
Tenppanyaki is kind of expensive no matter where you go, but you're really paying for dinner and a show. It was 70 euro/person for the set menu and we were so stuffed at the end, we could barely move. Also the long wait for our chef had starved us, so really there was a lot of food!
You could just order 1 teppanyaki dish instead, but if you have the space in your belly and the money in your wallet, I recommend that you splurge for a set menu. They have smaller set menus as well! read more
