He met me at his office after hours, performed the necessary emergency surgery and followed up with me during my recovery. I was very scared, to say the least, but he and his excellent staff put my mind at ease. I can not say enough good things about how compassionate and caring they were. The nurses, anesthesiologist and everyone at the Animas Surgical Hospital were all wonderful. From getting my prescriptions arranged to helping my husband with hotel reservations for our stay over in Durango they helped with everything. This was something I never wanted to experience but Dr. Fenberg made me feel calm and cared for through the entire process. He is a wonderful, caring physician and Durango is so lucky to have him. A big "Thanks" to everyone who helped me through my crisis.

It kept changing to better, worse and just plain odd. I'm a retired registered nurse who has had laser surgery on one eye so I felt I should not wait it out. I called at eight, was in to see Dr. Teel at 11:20. I live one hour from Durango so needed time to get there. Tech took me just as I was finishing insurance etc. and did the retinal scan and glaucoma pressures. Waited five minutes for Doctor. Thorough exam and calm assessment of the issue. The staff was extremely covid conscious...felt totally safe. They limit the number of patients so no problem with distancing. So, I had no appt., questionable emergency and I was treated with skill, kindness and professionalism. Dr.Teel listens and does not make you feel rushed. Dr Petty told my friend the lens would dissolve over time. In the meantime he went to another eye surgeon in Durango who was appalled at the result and scheduled an another eye surgery next week to remove the broken lens left by Dr. Petty. He has floaters in his eye now and blurred vision. After you have heard of an experience like this and ask around others have said similar stories. Always check throughly and ask the medical community before a surgery. Even my own personal Dr. would not recommend him.

With the first complication, Dr Clark matter of factly stated, "One out of a hundred" was the statistic. His unempathetic, flat response to the second damaged eye was, "One in a thousand." I don't know if those are his personal statistics in damaging eyes, or if it's an industry statistic, but in the pamphlet provided at the office it stated that complications are rare and during the consultation, complications were not even mentioned whatsoever. I would not have let him touch my eyes for the second surgery If the complication from the first surgery had shown up (chronic black floaters) beforehand. The second eye surgery resulted in a more devastating complication, whereas now my right eye is blurry, feels too large in my eye socket and chronically feels as if there is an irritant in my eye. At 72 years old, I had never had an issue with my eyes other than needing corrective lenses. Dr Sarah Haug, the Retinal Specialist at Southwest Eye attempted to do damage control and lasered a hole in that eye, however, the symptoms have not been alleviated fully. After a follow up from that procedure, she informed me that the surgeries have "Accelerated the aging of my eyes." Another words-- DAMAGED EYES. I seriously regret having gone to Southwest Eye Associates. I have one more follow-up in April, and would like to be hopeful that healing is possible, but so far the experience has been a medical nightmare. What will my vision be like in my 80s if this is the outcome??!

The 1st time was maybe 30 minutes. I spent over 2 hours for an appointment in which I had maybe 20 to 25 minutes with staff. Rescheduling was incorrect. Both of them are wonderful people and they care about each individual of every family they treat. These are truly caring medical people and each time we visit, we dont feel like just a number but part of a bigger family. The have their own pharmacy in house where you can buy discount perscriptions. All of the staff is very welcoming as well. They have a unique inexpensive flat fee per month per person with family discounts versus typical insurance which they dont accept. We HIGHLY recommend this medical practice.
