On November 6, 2025, because of veinous insufficiency in my leg, Dr. Karen Quirk performed a…read morechemical ablation on my left leg. Dr. Quirk and her assistant chatted and made jokes about their children while she was performing my procedure. I was mortified and wondered how much Dr. Quirk was focusing on my procedure. She never told me what she was doing to my leg each step of the way which would have been calming to me. During the procedure, she had done something that was so excruciatingly painful around my ankle that I almost passed out. When she finished the procedure, she told me to put my compression stocking on and she and her assistant just left the room! I had to put on my compression stocking by myself. I was never given any papers with any instructions for post-procedure. By the way, I had a heat ablation done by another doctor several years ago. I never experienced any pain and he put my stocking on my leg after the procedure. The next morning, I had unbearable pain. I called Dr. Quirk's office and left a message and no one called me back. Upon my second phone call, I was connected to Dr. Quirk's assistant. Clearly, she was working from home as I could hear her baby crying in the background. She had an attitude of annoyance, as if I was distracting her from caring for her baby! She told me that she would contact Dr. Quirk and get a prescription for a pain killer and have it sent to my pharmacy. My pharmacy texted me that the Hydrocodone and Colace was ready for pickup. I thought the Colace was a mistake so I called the assistant and questioned it. She had an agitated attitude and told me it was a stool softener because the Hydrocodone will cause constipation. I told her it would have been nice if she could have just told me about this during the last call and I complained about the poor communication between their office and patients. She told me all patients knew this and it is my problem! When I visited Dr. Quirk for a "follow-up", I told her that I continue to have horrible pain. She told me to be patient! She also told me that she is not done with my leg yet as there was more to do! I visited another vascular surgeon who explained that there is a major nerve on the front of my leg and any heat or chemical is supposed to be decreased as the procedure nears the nerve. He felt that there may have been a small amount of damage to that nerve. As of today, I still get intermittent burning, shooting pain in my leg and my ankle is still swollen. In addition to the unsatisfactory care I received, the entire office staff has an attitude and dealing with them was annoying and miserable. Whenever I was alone with a staff member, they would say nasty things about the doctor and other employees. Clearly there was huge amount of anger and dissention in the office between the employees and the entire office is highly unprofessional. In summary, I would recommend you NOT use Coastal Vascular Center and specifically Dr. Karen Quirk.

I DO NOT recommend visiting this center. I HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere. They REALLY need to do better.

With this crazy COVID-19 pandemic, I couldn't see him and had to find a great cardiothoracic surgeon to fix the problem, as we had been through this before a few years ago. I called his office, based on great online reviews, and he gratefully spoke with me, in his calm voice, and assured me that he would take great care of my son and reviewed his plan of action. So hard when a mom can't visit her son in the hospital .. and Dr. Odeh gave me his cell number, stating to call me anytime.. he even called me on his day off!! He is by far the most compassionate, caring , professional doctor we have ever had the pleasure to meet!! And a superlative human being! I know this is a long review, but Rarely does one find such a great, Approachable doctor.
