This golf course is probably the most remote course that I have played. Remote meaning it was in…read morethe middle of a forest. There is wildlife all over the course, so don't be surprised if you see a deer munchin in the woods on one of the fairways. I certainly did. Again, the course grounds are well maintained.

A challenging, regulation course cut into the forest . . . …read more You talk golfers up and you'll find this is one of the best public courses and favourite on the Island. This is our 4th visit. It gets "easier" knowing the course. First game out is the biggest challenge. Lots of water on some holes, narrow fairways on all, and some strategically placed sand traps in the way or even a low rock wall in front of the par 3, 17th hole. The back nine are so far back in forest that there is sweet, perfect silence, unless a foursome nearby is loud. Fairways are well trimmed, rough is thick, sticky grass and the greens are perfectly manicured and fast. The closest in design and conditions is Olympic View, but Storey Creek is flatter. Staff in the pro shop are super friendly. The Creekside Cafe offers yummy self serve or table serve meals, either inside with a big TV on Golf Channel, or outside patio amongst the extensive herb garden that surrounds. This time we had the special: Denver sandwich on artisan bread with the clam chowder ($9.95). The sandwich was thick with chopped ham and egg filling. Though we don't think it was house made, the chowder was thick and hearty with more clam meat than expected. All in all, a good protein and carbo lunch that sustained through the whole game. Great, friendly table service. There is a driving range. And beverage cart on course. Watch for huge ravens, cute deer, native plant garden features, bald eagles and bear scat in the OB. Much more pleasurable and helpful to the game to walk the course.

A lovely, established regulation-size course, north of Courtenay…read more It's flat, but long, with beautiful viewscapes, the oldest trees containing Osprey nests. We've always seen beautiful Ospreys, Bald Eagles and other birds. A stocked pro shop, friendly staff. Everyone friendly really. There is a driving range. This is our third time here for lunch and golf. The fairways are trim and generous, but the rough is sticky and there is trouble if you get into the fescue on some holes or under one of the many trees lining the whole course. Many of the greens are slightly elevated, and rounded off, so it makes it hard to stick an approach shot. They otherwise roll off. More sand, than water hazards. The greens are well cared for with a different slower velvet finish, not fast necessarily, so weight is hard to figure. No beverage cart. Water fountain on the front nine, but be sure to have or buy a beverage for the back 9. Breakfast or Lunch in the clubhouse is a good start. Today I had the bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich, with a side of fries. The fries were abundant and perfectly dry fried. Condiments on the table included HP sauce, Tobasco, ketchup and vinegar. Pop had a nice big slice of lime on the glass, and free refills. Service friendly and fast. Watch for the resident cat on the patio deck who likes to be petted. Most interesting thing I noticed . . . many of the putts favour the direction of Mt. Washington.
