Not only was it nice to have Bridget's expertise in the local area, but it was extremely helpful to be able to email her any time throughout the process, and she would quickly respond to me with the answer (I picked the day of coordinator, but she would still answer all questions, emails, phone calls, leading up to the wedding day). It was extremely helpful to have Bridget take the lead on outlining our wedding day of schedule and lead us through the actual ceremony components, but still make it feel personal. Every little detail was considered by the Aerie staff, and handled professionally. Looking back, it saved us quite a bit of money and effort! Most importantly, Saundra helped throughout the planning process, referred vendors, helped us contact them, and coached us through many of the decision making that was needed to create a perfect day! On the day of, she was there to manage deliveries, the timeline, and make sure it all went on without a hitch. Without her, I have no idea how we would have made this day possible! On the day of, we felt completely relaxed and pampered! Our Catering Captain, Kirk, was there at every turn, making sure we were satisfied and had everything we needed. Besides her artistry , she went above and beyond in her personal service to deliver the bouquet to our hotel for getting ready photos and then took our place settings and the cake along with the stunning floral garland she created AND proceeded set it all up at our venue. All things I would have hated to do on my own. The day of she did all of the setup, coordinating, and tear down. When she needed help, she grabbed a few willing volunteers who were there early. We were able to relax and enjoy our day. Also, she literally saved my reception! There are 2 very similar venues and the caterer delivered it to the wrong one. We both had tacos, and even though their delivery was several hours early and a different vendor, they were ready to start eating. Amanda figured it out, wrangled people to help her go get the food, and brought everything back. We honestly had no idea until several days later. I would have been so stressed out if I knew about that and needed to take care of it on my own. I didn't have to, though. Because Amanda is amazing.

They were personable and outgoing, the kind of people you'd want to be friends with. :) Our ceremony was held at their small, cottage like home here in Portland with their daughter, Isabelle (age 6 months...and TOO CUTE!), also present on August 28th, 2011. Considering the economy we didn't have a lot of money to spend and they were more than willing to work with us financially. We also don't have a lot of family left and Jeb nicely stepped up as one of our witnesses. Heather Rose also emailed us a copy of the ceremony beforehand so we could re-write or add to it, which I found very thoughtful. My, now, husband and I wrote our own vows on scrolls and exchanged them during. Everything was beautiful. Heather Rose was all smiles during the ceremony as were we. Our day couldn't have been more perfect. There are two major things that my husband and I took with us from our experience with this amazing couple.... 1.) Heather Rose collects 2 named friends (like me, Julie anne.) LOL. AND 2.) "Today you will love each other the least". A quote from Jeb that has more truth to it than we could have ever imagined. Seeing this little Victorian Belle of a gem online really got us excited. I passed some run-down neighborhoods to get there. And the property itself isn't as large as I envisioned in my mind. Parking is minimal and most people just parallel where they can along the side. But the house itself is absolutely stunning. There is so much detail in the stained glass on every single door. Even the dust corners on the stairs are uniquely ornate. All three levels are completely decorated. And festive Christmas fixings are adorned everywhere you look. The house is so well managed, and it is so lovely to be able to actively enjoy a piece of history. The hostess was very flexible about changing our seats when we were too close to our other patrons. Personally, we were in the Winnie Holgate Room, which has creamy beige walls and blue accenting. It overlooks the courtyard and has very pleasant views. Foodwise, we got to trial some mushroom soup. It was so rich and tasty. It was concentrated, full bodied unami with a hint of herbs. Everything else was presented on a tiered serving stand. The cucumber cream cheese and salmon sandwiches were pretty basic. The smokiness of the salmon was muted. The caprese skewer had a nice tangy bite to it with just enough basil to give it some fragrance. Out of all the pastries, the peach scone was the best. There was just enough of the fruit pieces to give it some texture without overwhelming it. The accompanying jam and mascarpone were spot on. The cherry and chocolate scone was a little drier. And the fruit chunks were very large in ratio to the chocolate. It was not a complimentary combination. In regard to the tea, Smiths is always great quality. They have good full bodied flavors with low astringency. Overall, the food and tea were pretty decent. And this was indeed a unique experience in a historic location that not only serves high tea but also caters other events. I would much like to come back in the spring or summer when the fountains are functioning and everything is in full bloom.
