They actually messed my booking up originally as I'd booked online and it "hadn't come through" to the Spa, so initially I was put off already thinking about the 1/2 star review they'd get, however the way the girl (forgot to get her name) dealt with the problem made all issues go away! I was a little early for my 1pm appointment anyway and as she explained the mix up, she stated that a masseuse would be available in 30 minutes, appologised, and said that she'd only charge me for the 30 minute price as appose to the 55 minute price I'd book and was going to receive. Now I mean everyone likes freebies yes but I think this type of customer service, where they admit they were at fault and make amends by doing something to offset them inconveniencing you is lost nowadays and a lot of the time you're made to feel like you're the one at fault. Having worked in the customer service field I get how important it is but also how easy it is to forget about it and think 'why does it matter' well this review proves it does with a 4 star rating! On this visit I had a 55 minutes Deep-Tissue massage due to my increasingly fragile muscles (too much football) and I left feeling great. Deep-Tissue massages can be a little different and less relaxing as they are digging into you a little more but I did feel surprisingly supple afterwards! Normal price for this massage would be £50 and I highly recommend it - just don't book online ;) read more

I have never ever had a facial before so this was a whole new experience for me! For my mum's birthday, I wanted to spoil her a bit and try something new. For the last birthday, we learnt how to make sushi at Samsi in Spinningfields which was hilarious! My mum had never had a facial either and I didn't know if she'd ever had her nails done, so I booked us in for a mini facial (you pick two areas yourself) and a polish and preen manicure each. Upon arrival, you will smell delightful incense and be seated in very comfy chairs... We had to wait in turn for the facial as we chose the micro dermal diamond facial - there is only one machine for this. Boy was it worth it though! I was even advised upon asking the nail technician that this was the best one to choose. I was nervous at first but the calming music that carries throughout the building and the confident person doing the facial, explaining everything each step of the way, is more than enough to help you relax! He explained that he would be cleansing the skin first, then applied a rough scrub to my face, and notified me he would be turning on the machine and not to be alarmed. ...Machine?! Oh you mean the quiet whirring of the box next to you with the tiny suction wand? Oh it's like it sandblasts my skin? It felt like a tiny little suction tip moving across my T-Zone! Amazing! And if you hadn't had enough of the revelation of your skin feeling like it can actually breath afterwards, wait until he shows you the container of dirt that's been sucked out of your pores! Ewwww!! But so good to see and feel how much clearer your skin is :) I went back through to have my nails done whilst my mum went in - the guy doing the facials was great and gave us all the advice we needed - you can have these facials every 11 days if you're trying to target an area of blackheads - I totally need to do this... The girl doing my nails was lovely, advised me on a colour because I was so indecisive and the bright blue looks lovely on :) If you're in need of a nails scrub up like we were, the preen and polish is definitely for you! Cuticles treated, trimmed if need be, nails polished, filed and lacquers of polish. 3 days later and they still look good :) I will definitely be back for more facials! If I ever win the lottery then a weekly spa treatment would be one of the first things I'd start spending my winnings on. Until then however, they will have to be something I have when I really want to treat myself or, as with this visit to Spa Satori, a well chosen gift from my husband. This was my first visit and prior to this I'd never actually heard of Spa Satori as it's neatly tucked away in a quiet corner of the NQ. It's a beautifully calm oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city and I felt relaxed as soon as I entered. I found all the staff to be extremely friendly and the girl who did my full body aromatherapy massage made me feel completely relaxed and at ease, explaining the type of massage it was, making sure it was the most suitable for my needs and then recommending the right type of oil to use. The massage itself was fantastic, so completely relaxing and thankfully the girl made no attempt at conversation, leaving me to enjoy of peace and 'me time' with just the gentle sounds of the plinky plonky music! I left Spa Satori feeling as if I was floating on air, exactly as you should after a good massage and I'm already trying my best to leave hints to my husband about how beneficial another treatment would be! read more

Hidden in the Northern Quarter, Inner Sanctuary is a real haven for the stressed and burnt out souls of Manchester. I wanted a massage and just spotted the spa online and it turned out to be a great pick. Inside is totally relaxing, and I mean totally. From the moment you walk in the dark wood and comfy cream couches in reception are earthy and easy on the eye with a modern Chinese feel. The treatment rooms are so relaxing that I actually fell asleep during my massage, but before that I remember it being very good! I went for the 'Deep Tissue' one that lasts 55 minutes, which is only £45. After months of neglecting my body, this was incredible and really relieved my aches and pains. If I had one of these a week I think i would probably be a very chilled out guy. My therapist was really calming too and I really didn't want to leave when my hour was up, but when I did I left in a bit of a zen-like, dreamy float. They also do lots of complementary therapies such as reiki, acupuncture and even colonics... if that's your thing... read more

Not enough people place the emphasis of their beauty regime on their bodies. It's all very well paying £100 a month plus on hair cuts and beauty products but if you're not going to look after yourself from the inside too then you'll never feel as good as you could. What I love about Inner Sanctuary Spa is that it is very reasonable. I came here for a one hour aromatherapy massage with a lady (i think her name was Sarah). I said I was feeling very tense, so she made me instantly at ease, combining a number of essential oils for my mood. It relaxed me so much I dopped off. I slept like a baby that night, and the best bit is it only cost me £45. read more

Being a smoker and someone who wears makeup regularly, I tend to be harsh on my poor skin. I had been meaning to give my darling skin some pampering for a while but have been too lazy to look for a spa till I decided to yelp local spas in Manchester. This was the first one I found (based on my location of-course) and after reading the last two reviews I was convinced to book an appointment. I called them up and a friendly receptionist gave me a booking the same day in the evening. The place is right next to Sweet Mandarin which is the end of Northern Quarter so was not extremely difficult to find (at least for people who are well acquainted with NQ). They had a board outside which said 50% off if I download their app which just made my day and I immediately downloaded their free app (matter of a few minutes depending on your phone service provider). They handed me a form to fill, general questions about my skin and food habits. The interiors have a very relaxing spa like feel with candles, scented oils and immediately gets you in the mood. After a 10 minutes wait my beauty therapist (a charming young chap) came and welcomed me to their private room where there was nice soft instrumental music playing (typical spa music). He spoke to me about my skin type and recommended me a few good products too while working his magic on my skin. We also had a nice chat about the Northern Quarter bars and our weekend plan and definitely kept me entertained all through. I went for a herbal facial for 30 minutes and after it was done my skin definitely felt very clean and refreshed. It has been 3 days since my facial and I can still see the glow in my skin and guess what I actually went on a night out without applying foundation (That is how glowing my skin looked). I love spas, and having a good massage is a must for someone who spends too much time sitting, walking, and carrying a shoulder bag. The first time I went to Inner Sanctuary I had a full body massage that, quite frankly, fell well below the standard I've been used to before. Even if the masseuse herself was good, and the pressure was right, the choice of music was horrendous. Imagine trying to relax to a mix of tunes ranging from Bach to yesterday's TOP 10 hit. Not only that, at one point Chi Mai by Ennio Morricone started playing. I adore Morricone, but Chi Mai is a theme from the film The Professional, one of those 1970s police movies where the good guy stands up against corruption and dies the death of unsung hero. Not the most relaxing song, surely. However, when a few months later I decided to have another go, I was not disappointed. In fact, I was rewarded with one of the best massages. I was under a lot of stress, but the masseuse literally brought me back to life. I've got my eyes on a few beauty treatments there, and I will definitely be going back. To me, Inner Sanctuary seems to be just the perfect city centre spa. It is in the trendy and busy Northern Quarter but well away from its hustle and bustle, and it has a nearly traditional "spa style" - a blend of soft textures, darkened colours, scents, candles, and meditative musical beat. The prices are unlikely to break your bank, and the choice of oils appears to be right for those of us whose eyes are set on getting relaxed and being pampered. read more

The questionnaire here is one of the longest pre-massage surveys I've ever filled in. Clearly they care about providing more than just a generic random massage. While I was waiting, the lass on reception offered me not just the usual drink but a warm herb neck pack thingie - a nice touch. For the price I was impressed by the attention to detail and decor quality, and will be returning soon with a colleague. Inner Sanctuary is nicely tucked away (near Sweet Mandarin) yet convenient for Shudehill. This is a business that deserves support. When we went to settle the bill it differed from original one they gave us at the table and when we tried to dispute this they all came at us and bullied us into paying it with all sorts of threats. The best 55 minute deep tissue massage I have ever had! I had the massage from Jennie and she really focussed on the knots in my shoulders and worked to loosen and eventually got them all out. I'm pretty sure Spa Satori saved my life last year. It was mid-November and I was working on several outdoor events, travelling up and down the country for gigs and meetings, and maintaining my day-job duties in the wee hours of the night. Lack of sleep, poor diet and caffeine reliance had ravaged my mind. Sleeping on trains and standing up for hours on end in the bitter cold had taken its toll on my body. I was, quite frankly, a wreck. A kind friend took pity on me and booked me in for a massage at Spa Satori. I entered a withered husk of a woman, recoiling from light and human contact. When I left an hour later I felt like Beyoncé. I have revisited Spa Satori several times since, enjoying Indian head massage, a basic facial and Swedish back massage. Each of the treatments I have tried have been restorative and relaxing. Whilst moderately priced, I've felt they were really worth the money. The staff are welcoming and kind, and explain treatments fully before they begin - which can be a relief if you've not tried something before and are unsure what to expect. The only downside of Spa Satori is the venue itself. The interior is nicely decorated, and the staff have done the very best with the space they have, but it is cramped inside. Other spas I've visited have had the luxury of being in hotels or countryside settings, where there is a little more room for guests to relax - whether by a pool or in a lounge - unfortunately there just isn't space for this in Spa Satori. There is a small waiting room where you can enjoy some atmospheric music and incense before being called through to a treatment room. This makes the experience feel a little more clinical. I'd bear this in mind if you are looking to book a spa experience for a gift or celebration (a hen night for example) as you may be disappointed by the lack of recreational space. The location is convenient, and the treatment rooms are clean, nicely decorated and well equipped. I'd highly recommend this spa for individuals looking for restorative treatments, but it may be advisable to look further afield if you are looking to book spa treatments for a group. read more

I've received many facials in my life, so has my partner and nothing pleases me more leaving a spa feeling revitalised and refreshed, however this wasn't the case... When I arrived, I was expecting to smell incense but instead it smelt like it needed an air freshener. The treatment itself was below average and felt very rushed. There was only one other helpful person there, and that was another customer waiting to be seen to as they offered me a hubba bubba (strawberry flavour). Overall, the experience was below average, I wish I could write a more positive review but they didn't tick the boxes. read more

I found Spa Satori when I was looking for somewhere that could book me a microdermabrasion appointment relatively quickly. They managed to fit me in the next day! I recently came back for a facial and find the atmosphere so relaxing and the staff very friendly. The prices are reasonable and the opening hours are excellent. I received a voucher for this spa from a friend for my birthday and decided to treat myself to a pampering pedicure before going on holiday. I called the spa and spoke to a very friendly receptionist who made my appointment for a french polish pedicure. On the day of my appointment, and after spending 20 minutes trying to find the place, I eventually found the spa with great difficulty as there was no actual signage to identify the location. Despite there being quite a quiet calming mood when entering the spa, I was quite alarmed to find that my treatment was to take place on a small couch next to the reception area in full view of the public passing on the street outside! I was even more confused as (having had a pedicure before and expecting to soak my feet in a foot spa) the beautician began to clean and file my toenails and then added the French polish (which was very badly done and uneven) before leaving me to sit alone in the reception area with ripped up tissues stuffed between my toes! When she returned (about 10 mins later) I drew attention to the fact that the polish was a mess and asked her to tidy it up for me. She did redo this but there was still no evidence that a foot spa would be part of my treatment and again she left me sat alone in silence for another 15 mins whilst the reapplied polish dried. At this point I was quite glad that my treatment would be over soon as I hadn't enjoyed the experience and thought that, as I hadn't had an actual pedicure, it would not be as expensive. I was very much mistaken though as when it came time to pay they charged me the full pedicure amount. All in all I was very disappointed that something which should have been a pampering treat turned out to be such an uncomfortable experience. I wouldn't recommend this spa as I think it is very overpriced for the beauty treatment you actually receive and the, from what I experienced, the beauticians do not make you feel relaxed/pampered at all. I am just glad that I had a voucher for this and didn't waste my own money having this done! read more

AWFUL, HORRIBLE PLACE. DO NOT GO HERE! I originally gave them 1 star but now I'd like to give them negative 5... I'm surprised that this spa has any good ratings. The whole experience from booking to actually visiting the so called spa was such a terrible one that I would never recommend it to anyone. Firstly, customer service is vital when providing a service and at all times the customer should be taken into account but this isn't the case with spa satori. The staff left to be in charge have ruined the whole feel of a spa, it felt like I was calling a receptionist at a doctors surgery, telling me I have to cut short my appointment. The staff member in particular was very rude and discriminatory and tried imposing time of treatments aswell as masseurs to us rather than us having the option to choose. Me and my friends booked it as part of a hen party initially for a 55 minute treatment but on the actual day I got a call to say one of the therapists called in sick so they can only provide 30 minute treatments unless we're happy to go with male therapists. I was gutted and appalled by this as I'd NEVER have a massage from a male therapist! The whole point of booking a spa hen party was for it to be a girls night only!! I had no choice other than to agree with the 30 minute treatment sessions since we were already on the road to Manchester from Newcastle. Once we arrived in Manchester, we requested for a postcode to ensure we reach the spa on time but the receptionist over the phone gave us incorrect information. Due to their error we ended up in Bolton! Wasting 1 hour looking for this stupid spa, even when calling back the lady advised the nearby shops which sounded genuinely correct! We got a call whilst finding our way to the carpark from the spa staff questioning how long we'd be, upon telling her that we'd be late due to being directed to the wrong postal address by their spa staff she told us that we were 'wasting their time' when in fact it was the other way round! I found that quite rude and offensive, at this point I was in no mood to be treated by ill- mannered staff who had no respect whatsoever for their 'new' customer(s). Finally, we arrived at Northern Quarter using the postcode for a carpark that was listed on their website. But alot of time was wasted in finding the place since it's hidden away in side streets. As we now were quite late (about 15 minutes) one of the staff members spoke very impolitely and suggested that 20 minute massages will be offered to everyone due to coming in late! It was beyond understanding as to why the staff member was so arrogant, we had travelled from newcastle to Manchester only for this appointment and they gave us the wrong address! So really, it was their error but instead of admitting fault it was again imposed on us! She should have offered us a leeway since it was our first time at the spa and we were late due to incorrect information provided by them. I can go on and on about how she spoke to us whilst the other immature staff members were smirking and how she went back and forth to speak to her 'manager' who seemed to be hidden away too but it's just really pathetic..! She under-valued our presence and gave priority to her 'other clients' which was NOT fair treatment, hence why I mentioned discriminatory earlier. I felt so angered at her behaviour and walked out. I never actually got the massage from this place but would never return here either as the staff aren't friendly or helpful. Great afternoon at Spa Satori. I booked late for one of their special offer packages and they were available to accommodate me. The staff were lovely and friendly on arrival and made me feel very welcome. I had an hour massage and when my therapist started she picked up that my back was my main problem area and focused on resolving this, advising me this would be more beneficial than a full body which I agreed. I felt amazing afterwards and all my stiffness had gone. I then had a lovely pedicure. The package was on offer for £55 for 90 minutes of treatment which was an absolute bargain ! Several people had recommended the spa to me which is why I chose it. Fantastic experience I can't wait to go back. read more

I am a lawyer living and working in Manchester. I am thoroughly disappointed at the service I got from this spa. It was my 28th Birthday so my boyrfriend paid for me to have the most expensive package that the spa offers, which is the Absolutely Fabulous Package costing a total of £285. For this price, I could have got a weekend deal at the Covent Garden Spa in London. In any event, I called up the Inner Sanctuary Spa extremely excited about my spa package and they informed me that (despite taking the money off my boyfriend for the £285 package) they were short on therapists and so it would be difficult to find a day to accomodate me for this package. After lots of talking back and forth, I suggested that I split the day up so I come one day for certain treatments and later on in the week for some more treatments. This was simply to make it easier for the therapist who seemed to be fully booked. I went on the Saturday to have my first treatment. The shower in the room read "out of order" so I had to rush back and forth around the spa, weating only a towel, to use another shower that was in use. Half way through my actual treatment a large fly entered the room buzzing around, making it extremely difficult to relax, until I had to actually point out to the therapist that I could not relax with a huge fly in the room and would she please try to get it out of the room. A facial named "the chocolate facial" was used on my face and though it is described to be something fascinating on the website, the therapist told me that it is simply chocolate heated up - no added ingredients. For £285 I expected expensive creams and washes to be used - not plain old chocolate heated up that I could have done at home myself. To top it all up, on the day that I had arranged my other spa session, I was rather late as I had been in court. I rang as soon as I had left court and I was very apolgetic explaining that matters had over run in court and asked when I could reschedule. Despite having a voucher for £285 worth of treatments, I was told that once you miss an appointment, you can not reschedule any other appointments. So the money was lost. It was actually so pathetic it was funny. Would never recommend this spa to anyone - unless you want to go for pure comedy purposes. read more

upon arrival, staff weren't at the reception , I had to wait ten minutes before anybody noticed i was there. The girls weren't professional whatsoever making me feel uncomfortable as if i was just there while they chatted about inappropriate things to say the least. I had a massage and the room was ice cold. The bedding was dirty and it didnt smell very pleasant at all, i had to breathe through my mouth. A small spa located in the Northern Quarter area of Manchester City Centre (below Garden House for those of you familiar with the area). A lovely neutral decor encourages a calming atmosphere and while the place has the look of an upmarket spa, the prices are rather reasonable. ISS is very welcoming and does not come off as being pretentious as many other City Centre Spas do. On offer are a wide range of facials, manicures, pedicures, massages, holistic therapies etc. Several packages are also available. Therapist use 'home made' organic products and are all very friendly. I highly recommend! read more

Overall, I was quite impressed with this spa. Although difficult to find (it's quite tucked away) it was relaxing, my masseuse was lovely and gave me an excellent massage and facial. The treatments are reasonably priced but some of the ones I originally wanted to book were not available. I also had the same problem as Jasminyaz with the shower. The one thing that would make me quite reluctant to return was the attitude of the staff on reception. I found them to be quite unfriendly, both when booking over the phone and in person. read more
