We came to visit Savannah Ballroom upon the recommendation of a world-renowned dance professional and Ballroom owner where we had studied in Jacksonville, FL. We were in the house-hunting process while transitioning to Savannah. Imagine my surprise as I recognized owners and professional instructors and competitors, Jaelyn and Alonzo, as the judges of my first Pro-Am competition. They were very warm and welcoming and have continued to be so. Dancing is my passion, and I have been able to nurture it at Savannah Ballroom. Soon after moving here, I continued my study of dancing, performing, and competing in Pro-Am. Nino and Lauren, the other professional couple are not only excellent instructors, but also compete professionally. I love to progress through my lessons and to socialize and dance with my fellow students at the Friday night practice parties. This year I was asked to dance in the Ballroom Extravaganza fundraiser with virtually no experience in dancing, so I went to Savannah Ballroom since the few lessons I had years ago were there with JaeLynn. I have taken lessons at 6 studios in 4 different cities and hands down Savannah Ballroom was my best all around experience. Elsewhere, I have worked with some spectacular dancers who were terrible teachers. The instructors at Savannah Ballroom are incredibly talented, not only at dancing, but at teaching as well. I feel so fortunate to have been introduced to Savannah Ballroom by my parents. They went for lessons for my younger beother's wedding and stayed for the fun and great workout to keep them active. I decided to try it and now it's a year later and I'm enjoying it so much I go 3 times a week and have begun competing in the region. Savannah ballroom is incredible! They have taught my (now) husband and I how to dance to all styles of music, pick out different styles of dance according to the beats of the music and helped us form a small dance family!
