I've done a few reviews on this particular location. But wow I have to say again that if it wasn't for the produce I wouldn't ever visit this location. Because they have the absolute worst people. Talk about RUDE. I mean dam you people don't seem to realize the customers are why you have a job. This morning I had the displeasure of a young gal named Kaylee I believe was her name bagging my groceries. Man talk an about a hateful young person. Nothing pleasant or not even a thank you or hi how's your morning. The checker wasn't much better. Her name was Amanda. Zero personality. The Save Mart management team really needs to get it together and talk to their employees. There are plenty of people that would love to have your job. So maybe the management needs to remind them how fortunate they are to be employed. read more

This Save Mart was my main grocery store as I grew up in Hanford, and over 20 years later, I still love visiting it when I'm back in town to see what's new and what's the same. It's still one of my mom's regular stores. The sale prices are pretty good and it's kept quite clean. I checked out the artisan cheese selection and found it nice, with a solid variety of cheeses from across California, Wisconsin, and some quality imports as well. read more

So today was the last time that we will every step foot in Save Mart. I always looked up to this store and believed it had the best of the best when it came to meats & deli. It's a bit more pricey then other grocery stores but I felt it was well worth it when you're getting the highest quality. I went in specifically for some steaks and found a package of beef with a dead fly wrapped up inside the wrap. Now as crazy as it sounds I was trying to convince myself that hey things happen and maybe the employee who was prepping the packages of meat was working so quickly that he failed to do his quality control check! BUT this next part is the kicker... I walked the package over to the meat department and quietly informed the young employee of my findings handing him the item. He apologized and appeared genuinely surprised. I took a few steps back as I could see he was informing a 40-50 year old coworker who I'll add from prior knowledge of going to Save Mart is a senior employee. But then that older gentlemen orders him to set it on the counter in front of him while he is actively and visibly prepping (marinating) fresh meat. A few minutes later after moving away from my current location I continued to watch the older employee (because of my spidey senses) who then took a glance up to see if I was still in my original spot then after not seeing me there he opened the package. He then used the plastic wrap and knocked the fly off of the meat and proceeded to toss the meat into a bin with the rest of the meat he was originally marinating. That was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen! I truly could not believe my eyes. At that point I walked to the front and requested to speak to the Store Manager but only got to talk to the Asst. Manager Mike because apparently Scott was gone for the day. Mike also made it a point to tell me he did not know the employees in the meat department and that he was literally no longer working at the local Hanford store in 30 mins after the completion of his shift! So no responsibility or accountability in fact nothing but deflection from the Asst. Manager Mike. I informed him I would be following up with Scott and taking it even further as to report the incident to the proper authorities! Update: Health Dept. has opened up an investigation. read more

On a visit to see my mother she asked me to pick up a champagne cake from Savemart for nostalgia sake (Hadn't had their cake in like 20 years). I also grabbed some chicken wings from the deli for my Dad. The service from the deli staff was good, but the deli food was pretty bad. The champagne cake was AWFUL. They really don't taste the frosting when they make these things. It tastes like cough syrup, disgusting! I don't recommend the Savemart deli as the food I saw while there was not fresh and the food I bought was not good. read more

This has been my go to store for the last 20 years to be honest and as to why I've never done a review is beyond me. Even when I did not live close to save mart I knew I could always go there to find items I can't really find at other stores. Also, I found out you can ask the store to carry a certain item for you and they will and the cool about it is, others usually like the things I've asked for. My daughter having celiac has been trying over the years with many trips out of town for different types of foods for her; Savemart now carries a whole line of gluten-free products. They have a little section for it in addition to labeling things gluten free throughout the store. Makes our lives a little less chaotic and we appreciate that. Hey MARCO F....here is a good review for you since you are the one who responds. Savemart in Hanford is a terrible store, with a terrible staff. Seems all the other complaints are towards your rude staff which are getting worse by the day. Cindi and Jesus are the worst of the group. Rude and un professional even for their age, which must be 55 years old. You can leave whatever generic response blah bblah blah....but the citizens of that town have caught on to the fact you OVER CHARGE for UNDER PERFORMANCE. Get that Marco? The only good thing about this Savemart is that it's close to home and most days if it's just a few items I can get in and out quick. Prices are always higher which would be acceptable if the quality matched but quality here is usually 50/50 and I often have to go to Walmart or Foods Co for the things I'd expect to see here. Service is good for the most part everyone who works here is pretty nice and helpful. Every other Savemart I've been to here in the valley looks like the target of grocery stores so why does this one look so damn run down. That old shingle roof looks like a fire hazard but hey it isn't my business right? This place could use a major renovation, unless 1980s is still in style. read more

Went to get a money order and called the manager up from the front registers. Then he helps someone with lotto ticket that walked up after me because the lady said something so he helped her first. She thought since she reached the counter a second before me and manager went along with it. I hope the few bucks you get from this lady with a pipe dream was worth it. If there's one thing that turns us off about a store it's the unfriendliness of the checkers and the lack of offered help from everyone else including the baggers. Four or 5 years. ago this store seemed to practice friendly customer service. Smiles, hellos, we're abundant. There are a few of the seasoned employees left that actually remember how to smile and be pleasant. Today I accompanied my wife to the store. It's been awhile since I've been here and it was great to see one checker that we recognized, she acknowledged us and for a moment it made us feel that old feeling of being appreciated as a customer and a part of our neighborhood store. While in the produce department we noticed that there were were several employees working the department. One person actually seemed annoyed that they had to wheel their restocking car around us as we were selecting produce. Again, no smiles, no "can I help you" even when it was pretty obvious that we were searching for a product in an seemingly empty row of bagged vegetables. Checking out was what really made us feel terribly unwelcome. Our checker said not one word to us, she only started scanning and when it totaled out she still said absolutely nothing. The bagger, seemed to follow through with a lack of friendliness and lack of appreciation. Savemart is definitely more expensive than any of our other grocery stores in Hanford, we go there because of its location to our home and for "what used to be" a full service grocer with a friendly neighborhood vibe. We still spend hundreds to thousands of dollars here but... I sure wish we had an option such as a Vons! read more

This place is disgusting there was moldy pasta and I told the stocker he came over and looked like he was gonna do something I walked away then came back and it was still there and then I went to the hotdogs and there was like three packs open leaking juice everywhere nasty! The family pack of Oreos was missing 3 damn rows of cookies what the hell! Then at check out everyone from the checker to the bagger was rude as hell then the bagger threw a box of cookies two Rows over and yelled get this damn cookies out of here !!!! They have the rudest employees. They are always in the worst mood it seems. (I'm referring to the checkers and baggers. The produce guys are nice.) Hey Save Mart, you gave yourself an exterior makeover, I think it's about time to give yourself an interior makeover. Hire some nice people that actually enjoy their job. I needed to buy a birthday cake for my sister's party. I hadn't heard a whole lot about bakeries here in town so I decided to order the cake through Save Mart. I ordered the two layer German chocolate cake and I have to tell you work I literally ordered the cake only so we'd have a birthday cake expecting no one to eat it. Always the same group of people for dinner parties they never eat dessert. That cake was one of the best cakes I've ever had. Everyone took a slice everyone finished it and everyone was raving about how great the cake was. It was like a German chocolate cake except that it had a chocolate whipped mousse frosting or something in between the layers and on the out ridge that was absolutely fantastic! If you're a German chocolate cake lover I highly suggest it. read more

I like this store, but EVERY SINGLE TIME I have gotten a rotessire chicken here, it has been undercooked. I'm talking bright red and bleeding. I don't have this issue at Wal Mart or Costco. Normally, my mother and I drive to Save Mart and do our shopping, so this isn't the first time I've been here. My mother, my boyfriend, and myself walked to Save Mart recently to do a bit of shopping. After shopping, we tell the employee that's bagging our groceries that we have walked and we ask if she could help us tie our bags for easy carrying for our walk home. She tells us she'll walk us outside. She follows us tto the end of the sidewalk by Save Mart. She then helps us tie the bags. She continues to watch us as we grab our bags out of the cart. After all of our bags were in our hands, she walks off with the cart. I believe she thought we were going to take the shopping cart home with us, like some folks do. Not the case. If we were even thinking about doing something ignorant like that, we wouldn't have told her. Other than this incident, I enjoy shopping at Save Mart. The prices are great. I wish I could say the same about the employees. Hopefully next time. read more

Cloak anecdote: While shopping with my mom here: Mom: Do you want some m... Me *louder than usual*: Does this leather jacket make me look like a prostitute? Mom: What? No! *6 minutes later...* Me: Are you embarrased by me, Mom? Mom: Well, you basically screamed 'DO I LOOK LIKE A PROSTITUTE?!' really loudly and everyone looked...so...yeah. I love this place. The people who work here are genuinely friendly. I have not met a single person here who doesn't make me smile. It's such a clean, bright, friendly store. I could spend hours in here. Now, compared to other Savemarts, the selection isn't that great. Just the basics. If you want variety, however, go to Vons or Whole Foods or Trader Joes. read more

Stopped in for a quick sandwich. I asked for rye bread which was clearly listed on the menu. 'We don't have rye bread, only white rolls.' Can you get some bread from the store, no we can not. I just came in for a simple sandwich and you can't even give me an option other than white rolls.......wtf? We visit Hanford a few times a year to take care of our rental properties. While a larger place such as Walmart might offer a better price for certain products, service is hard to beat at Save Mart. Lines are not long and price is always right. We are always asked if we needed help with our grocery. read more

Tonight was not the first time I had been in this location. It might be a while before I go back however. This particular location is extremely disorganized, baby items with pet food, cheeses and sour cream with the meats, etc. Trying to find something that you need is a difficult task, especially when the staff that works there doesn't even know where stuff is! I have some difficulty with walking around and did NOT appreciate being sent from one end of the store to the other only to have to go back to the original end one row over. So I chewed out the young man who had me running around in circles. Get to the checkout, the young woman with her sparkly red Christmas hat was extremely rude and disrespectful to my mother, saying so what am I doing.. do you want paper or plastic or what. I ended up having to bag myself, with someone finally coming up to me saying that she would get the rest.... Hell I bagged most of it myself. Three more items weren't going to kill me... So, mom asked the cashier for the receipt, and this young lady says that she gave it to her, mom said that she didn't have it, the young woman then proceeded to tell my mother that she had indeed given it to her, and I jumped in and said that no, she had not seeing as how she had been piling things into one bag, which we had to rearrange. She then proceeded to humiliate us in front of the other customers saying that she gave us the receipt and that she did not have to take our attitude. What a rude lying little witch! It must have made her feel so good to embarrass and humiliate an elderly disabled woman and her adult daughter.... What a shameful and disgraceful way to handle your customers. It was just horrific, and the more I think about it, the angrier I get. UPDATE: I have since been contacted through the yelp app by an employee of the store resorting to name calling and insults.... SIGH... I have no intention of EVER returning to this store now. Such unprofessional employees. read more

This store can't get much right. It's expensive and run down for a Save Mart. Some of the people are really nice and helpful but they don't make up for the bag boy that ran the carts into my car, or the lady in the deli department that picks through her hair and then fights with her customers about it. If people in this store would mean what they say and do what they mean, they may have a lot more business. Don't get me wrong, I still shop there sometimes. What comes to my mind first when I think of Save Mart is how bright and clean and inviting it seems when you first walk in the door. I think all grocery stores strive for that type of atmosphere, but most don't actually achieve it. They also tend to be fully and well-staffed so customers feel like there is always someone just a few steps away who is willing and able to assist you. The fresh produce section offers a good variety of fresh vegetables and fruits and every so often there's a little show of sorts when you hear thunder and the lights flash a bit and then the sprinklers go off and give the fresh produce along the north wall a little indoor thunderstorm. The kids always think it's cool. The meat and seafood section is well-stocked. In my opinion they have the best cuts of beef available in town. Their seafood always looks fresh. There's a bakery where you can place orders for cakes, cupcakes, etc. And their cakes are actually pretty good. There's also a deli section that has a good selection of deli meats, salads, fried chicken and rotisserie chicken. The chicken salad--they make it from the rotisserie chicken that hadn't sold the day before--is delicious, flavored just right and has slivers of almonds. There's a pharmacy, a fresh flower and plant section (which can sometimes be quite extensive, including large fresh palm trees), you can rent DVD's of fairly recently released movies, there are lots of mylar balloons to choose from, etc. Sometimes they have specials where, for instance, if you spend over $100, you get a free turkey. Save Mart can be a little more pricey than other grocery stores in town. But they do offer better service and keep the store well maintained. The employee who bags your groceries almost always offers to help you to your car. You really don't get that type of service anywhere else nowadays. read more

I shop here all the time and love their cakes, so naturally I choose to purchased a gender reveal cake on Friday night for pick up the next day. Ramon took my order completely WRONG, even though very clear instructions were provided. I handed him a sealed envelope with my wife's business on which the color was clearly written. The next day we had our party. When my six year old daughter cuts the cake... IT'S THE WRONG COLOR INSIDE!!! Our reveal party was completly ruined. I immediately took the useless cake back to the store where no empathy was shown. All that I was offered was my money back and said l could keep the cake if I wanted. What am I to do with a cake like that? Meanwhile back at my home I have a pissed off wife, friends and family not knowing what had just transpired. This was the most terrible experience EVER. You can only imagine the rollercoaster of emotions that took place. If you were in my shoes what would you do? Savemart is a very pricey grocery store, but I really enjoy walking around. I like the produce section better than any of the other produce sections of other stores. All of the people who work here are friendly. I love how it's conveniently located near my house. Some of the salads, hot food, and cakes are actually good. I love when they have the hot french bread. read more

I am rating their Deli I actually went there with my boyfriend to order a Deli sand which and it was a good experience. The guys name I think was Gary was very nice and very pleasant he helped me out in the selection of which type of sand which I wanted and with what condiments. The sandwiched was delicious and filling and I will go back again and eat there. They also had a great selection of pasta's and salads and hot to go items, try it you will love it! read more

I had a profoundly uncomfortable experience yesterday at the check stand here. An elderly blind man was being helped, and apparently he's had someone drive him home from the supermarket before. The people who helped him before either weren't working or busy, so they called for a supervisor to figure out what to do. The lady that came out (Gayle) proceeded to publicly berate both the check stand girl and a supervisor about how they would never do this, it's not Savemart policy, and why did they bring her out of her office for "this." The blind gentleman was right next to check stand listening to them essentially either call him a liar or saying that helping him like that was weong. Neither the checkstand girl and the supervisor seemed to understand why the manager was yelling at them as it looked like a simple yes or no would have sufficed. That manager's conduct was SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL - I've never seen anything like it before either in Savemart or elsewhere - it honestly makes me not want to shop there anymore. read more
