This place needs a complete makeover - looks dingy and display of baked goods weren't presented well. Sadly, the pastries were mehhh. They were cold as if they were just taken out of the fridge meaning they were baked fresh this morning which was a huge disappointment. The bread wasn't fresh at all when he told me it was. I'm not used to bakeries where people just use their bare hands after handling money to put the bread in a bag. I've been coming to Hanford for several years and just noticed this bakery place. I have Portuguese friends and they make their own bread, and I have to say this bakery's pastries taste legit! My favorite pastries were the custards and the coconut tortas. We also bought olives, cheese, and linguisa. I am excited to try those products. Staff was super nice, welcoming, and friendly. The worker (who might have been the owner... not sure) told us stories about Portugal and how some breads are made. I loved this place! As a Mexican, I invite my paisanos to try their pastries. You walk in the door here, and it smells like carbohydrate heaven: yeasty and redolent. On my visits to my hometown, I always drive by this bakery. This time, I finally made it a point to come in and shop. I have very fond memories of buying Portuguese sweet loaf bread at the old Boston Pizza in this same shopping plaza, and I wanted to recapture those memories. Oh, did I. I bought a bag of sweet rolls (perfection!), a bag of mixed biscotti cookies, and what I can only dub an epic meringue. The meringue was bigger than my fist and cost a buck. The sweet rolls were wonderful. I'm not a fan of Italian-style biscotti--it's too hard for my liking--but I really liked these cookies. They are dry but not too dry, so you don't have to drink something with them... though they'd be great with milk or coffee. They made for a good breakfast. The meringue was a fabulous dessert to split with family. I've already told my family that when I'm home again, I'm visiting this bakery. read more

This is my first time coming in. I just got married in Portuguese and I wanted to my husband who is African-American to try some Portuguese desserts. We drove 37 minutes to try some Portuguese pastries and I just can't believe this happened to us. Once we walked in and they noticed my husband three men that were there moved away from him. Once it was time to pay the owner, which is a cashier, would it take money from my husband's hand so my husband placed the money on the counter and the owner took it. Once it was time to give the change back, the owner gave me the change instead of him. I just can't wrap my head around all this it's 2023 and we still have racism in the world. Service is great. He was very friendly and answered our questions about the breads. We decided to try both the cinnamon and natas "cupcakes". The first was like a spice cake and the natas reminds me of flan. It was heavy on sugar and different texture wise from cinnamon cupcake. We also got a piece "love" cheesecake which has cream inside. Reminds me more of a cornmeal cake. Moist and crunchy crust on exterior. Dusted with powdered sugar. On sweet side and would be great with some espresso. The "donut" looks like a popover and was filled with a ton of lemon filling. We bought a bag of the biscotti, which comes in different flavors like butter, coconut, marble, etc. Overall, a great place to grab a treat. read more

Do not miss this little hole in the wall. Get the "love cake". It's delicious!!! I needed a birthday cake for my new born grand daughter. It was perfect. Freshly baked with a wonderful filling. In these strange times, I believe it's important to support small businesses. I happened to be driving through the City of Hanford and wanted something I eat while on the road. I opted for this Portuguese bakery. I don't recall eating a Portuguese pastry but I know they influenced the Chinese egg tart which I love. Although I didn't see any egg tarts, I did walk away with a box of cream filled pastries and a cinnamon bread loaf. The pastries were the phillo dough type, light and flaky. But I was more impressed by the cinnamon bread. It was light, slightly sweet, and perfect when toasted. read more

And the bakery items are fresh, and the figs are from the country of Turkey and they are fantastic. I've purchased Portuguese sausages from back east stores. Their products were very good... This place is great! Tucked away in the strip-mall on 10th and Grangeville, next to Mediterranean Grill, this is a unique addition to Hanford. The Portuguese products are pretty neat, the cookies are good, the horns are good, but the secret to this place is the Portuguese donuts. They only make them on Saturday and they are well worth the visit! They taste like a cross between a donut and fried dough (funnel cakes for you odd balls), with a touch of citrus in them. Awesome!
