This place STINKS. I'll gladly shop somewhere where I don't have to hold my breath where I shop.

The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy - Flu shots! No line... just walk-in

Covid protocols and only one person inside at a time, so I waited in my car until someone left. Pro tip: Don't keep yanking on the door and ringing the bell if it's not unlocked the first time you ring. Wait and press the doorbell again in a minute. They mask & sanitize after every client. I buzzed and handed over my prescription. The gentleman confirmed I had filled prescriptions there before and told me to wait in my car and they would wave me in when it was ready. The prescriptions were ready, they waved at me to come inside and pick up. The pharmacist confirmed I had an unusual dosage of one prescription and that they weren't able to give me more than one month of my asthma medications. They tried to give me three to save trips etc. and the Pharmacist went above and beyond trying to get me more, but my benefits/insurance refused more than one month at a time. This is the reason I come to this location - they think about making my life better and easier without me having to ask.

I wasn't comfortable, but I my concerns were ignored. I was told to look at cupcake pictures. And when I asked about how this was addressed, I was told that "everyone loves cupcakes". Nothing.

The closest to me would be the one on Whyte Ave and 109 Street. I avoid this one because I dislike getting in and out of that one's parkade. It can be quite difficult especially when traffic is busy or the bus stop right by its entrance is busy. It is also split into two floors. Back to this location though! I like that the parking is far more convenient. Although you have to be careful where you park. Part of the lot is paid parking so make sure you read the signage. There is some free street parking but that can be full when the area is busy since it is so close to Whyte Ave. I like the size and selection in this store. It is probably a small to mid-size version of a Shoppers store. It is open until midnight every night as well. They have a good selection for this size of store. With the merger with Loblaws they also are starting to have more and more PC products that you find at Superstores. I also like that they kept the funky retro neon sign from the old IGA that was at this location. It has always been a favourite sign of mine in Old Strathcona so kudos for keeping it.

I've havent had to deal with returns before but I have had instances where the cashiers/managers are very reasonable and competent when something doesn't quite add up. Today I went return items from multiple purchases and dealt with "beauty specialists" Ebru and Simarjot. They were all over the map when deciding on and explaining on policy. Beginning with packaging. They initially refused to return two separate products (one face and one hair) because they said the products weren't sealed as they should be. As I had ordered these online and was sure they were never opened I found the same products on shelf packaged the exact same way as mine. I then had two products that were 2 days past the 30 day return limit they wouldn't return/exchange (There were very solid extenua circumstances for the inability to return within 30 days, I personally believe they just didn't know how) because it would require store managers approval and there didn't happen to be a single manager in one of the largest Shoppers in Edmonton. The remainder of my purchases used $10 of promotion points to purchase them so again they "didn't know how" to return them and required a store manager who was absent. Even if approval is required for purchase when you use points it really decreases my confidence in the PC program and my preference to use my PC Mastercard for any purchases at all. The card has lost its appeal in one transaction (or lack of) it was so bad. So I walked in with 6 products and walked out with 6 products that I don't need or can't use and watchinf them trying to figure out their own system and asking ME questions about how the receipt works was like watching a bad comedy act. I switched from Shoppers for medication a long time ago because of terrible customer service and will no longer be purchasing goods here. I will use them if I need a Canada Post. Very disappointing and awkward experience (for the sales clerks) and I will give you all a huge tip, if you insist on using PC - go to Superstore for makeup, if not - go to Walmart. If Bezos doesn't bother you - definitely stick with Amazon for prices. I was trying to support "local" as much as possible (every Shoppers is owned independently) but this local experience was not as most of them are. I will attempt an online return perhaps or with one other store but if I recieve similar responses then I will donate the goods so that something good comes of this awful experience and I certainly wont be a loyal PC Mastercard user anymore. Canadian Tire offers similar points and Is much more user friendly.
