I have shopped at this Savers over the years. Sometimes I have left with more and sometimes less; I have always left with something. The store is spacious. Clothes & shoes are organized by size rather than color like in some other thrift stores. They have a wide variety of housewares and toys. There were some mirrors that had no price. An employee told me that I would have to return another day to get a price because those who set the prices had left for the day. I guess that's a good thing or I would have come home with those mirrors. I was surprised to see only self-checkout. Murphy's law says that I would encounter at least one item that wouldn't scan without employee intervention. The issue was handled swiftly and I went on my way. Awful experience. The "manager" (Melanie I believe) was extremely rude to my elderly, immigrant parents during checkout. She yelled at them, belittled them, and made them feel completely unwelcome. Her behavior was either racially motivated or just plain unprofessional - either way, she should not be in a customer-facing role. We've shopped here for 7+ years but won't return as long as she's employed. No one should be made to feel humiliated or unwelcome while shopping. read more

I went to the Savers store on 99 Federal Rd Brookfield, CT on Sunday 12/8/24. While I was on the phone with my mother in law in the DR showing her some dresses I wanted to buy for her, and checking out a couple of purses, I suddenly noticed a woman coming in my direction harshly signaling with her hands for what looked like she wanted me to move. By the time I turned to figure out what was happening, I noticed she was a bit agitated so I signaled with my hands and said very softly "Come down". I didn't even have a change to respond when the woman was demanding that I move my cart. I took my cart and parked it very close to the wall and signaled for her to pass (she was pulling a huge cart). She proceeds to take my cart and started to move it and I instantly reacted by grabbing the cart. She immediately yelled: "did you just pushed me? are you trying to hit me?' and proceeded to tell me to get out of her store. I told her several times that I was just trying to take my cart (my personal belongings were in that cart) and she insisted that I was trying to hit her and demanded that I get out of the store or she will call the police. I asked for a manager, and she said she is the manager and told my 17y/o daughter, who was highly upset by the scene, to "get me out of the store" before she calls the police. I took out my pocketbook from the cart and proceeded to exit the store. I returned to ask for her name to one of the employees, and she was just arriving to that spot and told me her name was Melany and she will not give me her last name because they don't give out last names. The next day I called the store and asked to speak with the store manager. I spoke with Mike who was very empathetic and apologized to me, but asked me to call the following day and speak with Chuck because he was at the same level with Melany and couldn't do anything about the issue. I called the following day (Tuesday 12/10/24) and Chuck was out. I called the store again today, Wednesday and spoke with Chuck who seemed empathetic and said he will deal with Melany, and OFFERED ME A $25.00 coupon to the store. My daughter was so upset and fearful that this woman was going to call the police and have me arrested, that she began to cry as soon as we left the store, and just wanted to go home afterwards. I held up for my daughter's sake, went to Costco, was not able to focus and walked out of Costco without buying anything, but could not hold my emotions any longer and broke down when I went to eat at a burger place nearby. I was not able to sleep that night, and have been very upset about the whole incident. Even as I write this review my tears are flowing. What was I expecting? I was expecting this supervisor would take my information, assure me he will investigate the matter, and get back to me. I was expecting that after the matter is investigated this woman would be held responsible for her behavior and make amends for it. How do I know if anything will be done about this? How about my pain and suffering; the humiliation I suffered, my daughter's pain? That was supposed to be a mother daughter thrifting day and this is how it ended? I came here originally to purchase a few things for a Halloween costume but ended up finding some great things along the way. I couldn't find anything for my Halloween costume, but I was able to find a few cute coats my favorite Santana album and my favorite movie for some pretty good prices. Although they were on the more expensive side, the brand associated with the clothing usually carries these items at a much higher price. When I came to the register the employee was really kind and asked me if I had a number saved in the system and when I said no she entered her number and gave me a much larger discount which I was really grateful for. Large thrift store, part of a chain. Good deals to be had but it's important to note that Savers is a for profit operation with charity partners, not a charitable organization. Same rules apply as other thrift stores. Persistence pays off. Got a bunch of CDs for $1.99 each including some multi disc sets to listen to at work. read more

Since my previous review I have actually come to fall madly in love with this Savers location. I don't know if they started getting in some of the grimier items that would have gone to the now-closed Danbury Salvation Army or what, but I've been making the trip out here at least every two weeks and leaving with about a garbage bag's worth of plus-size old lady sweatshirts, stupid-looking button downs that don't fit, old coffee percolators and ziplock bags full of old silverware! Upon my first visit I was put off by the strip mall location, the bright lighting and the neat lay-out, but I was so wrong. This place has 'em all beat when it comes to good used thrift shop fare. The Goodwill's in Brookfield and Danbury should be ashamed. read more

They have some really nice stuff here! I really like the quality of what they have. One thing though.. I caught a manager abusing a autistic staff member, it broke my heart. I couldn't say anything.. but I very well will next time. Don't abuse your workers. She was telling the young man he "wasn't special" / "didn't matter" and he cried.. disgusting!! And abusive. He was working inside the donation drop off thing. Heard this when I was looking at the purses. Can you not abuse your staff!!!??!! Like what the literal hell? If I'm ever in there again, when someone is being abused to the point of tears, I won't hesitate to report. And for that young man, If he's reading this, just know you're valued. Savers was once a good thrift store, however, the prices here have really increased. For example, what was once $5-6 is definitely $10.99 and up. And the quality of a lot of the clothes isn't worth over $10 used. Some of the items I'm shocked they have the nerve to put on sale (stained, smelly, ripped items). I'll admit I've found some great items here, but you have to really look at the item and see if it's worth it to you. What's really strange is that during their 50% off sales, it seems like they mark up the prices from what it was originally so when it's 50% off they make an extra buck or two. Also there's a lot of turnover in management in this store too. read more

By way of thrift stores, this is one of the best I've been to. I found a lot of name brands and walked out with two Michael Kors blouses (one for $5 the other for $13 with the Macy's tag attached). Very organized, very nice staff, clean and organized. The only down side is you do pay for what you get meaning that it's noticeably higher priced than the Goodwill down the street and I've been to thrift stores with brand name clothing at much cheaper prices but I'd still shop here because it doesn't even come close to retail discount store prices. Big plus: They have a generous RETURN policy. I've never seen a store with a return policy. They also have a REWARDS PROGRAM. I think the lady said after you spend $75 you get 30% off your next purchase...I guess that makes the prices somewhat average with other thrift stores who do the "deal of the day" type promotions. read more

I admit I was a bit hesitant to try out savers. I was raised on GoodWill and thought this would be a lesser knock off. Boy was I wrong! Here are things I found that would be unheard of in a GW A tooth brush holder shaped like a snail! Savers' pricing left me stupefied. Buy 3 books, get one free sounds like a great deal until you do the math. Books cost between $1.99-$2.99 (except trashy romance novels are like 50 cents). So 4 books for $6 at Savers...or 6 paperbacks at Goodwill for $6? Clothing prices surprised me too. New, unworn clothing can be found at TJ Maxx or Ross for the same prices used clothing is sold for at Savers. I admit this was an extremely clean and well organized store. Really, for a thrift store you'd never know it was this store is SO clean and well lit and organized! No funky Goodwill smells at all and I found the prices to be realistic for the quality of the items and the designer items you can get here. I got an LL Bean Coat, barely used worth $280 on LL Bean's website for $25.99 you CANNOT beat that deal! I have been to other Savers but Brookfield is worth the drive for the organization, friendly staff, clean store and selection of quality, well priced goods! I also like that they partner with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, so I bring donations to them as well, I like the thought of helping kids in need! read more

I love this place. Husband and I have found that our increasingly healthy lifestyle has resulted in needing to resize our wardrobes. I have found awesome clothes for both of us, as well as a German-made coffee grinder for $5. The clothes are arranged by size, which is a real blessing compared to Goodwill, where they are absurdly arranged by color. The prices are generally somewhat higher than the local Goodwill stores, but if you are a thorough browser, you can score some great deals. I got a pair of barely-worn brand-name leather boots for under $20, a pair of Levi's shorts for $4, and GAP shorts for Husband for $5. I don't think I can go back to shopping at retail stores after shopping here. read more

While I'm much closer to the Savers in Orange, by far I prefer this location. It's clean, well stocked and organized, and the employees don't seem completely miserable. I mainly stay in housewares and books, and for what I collect, this Savers has been awesome. I've almost always managed to find great stuff here and usually for a more reasonable price than the Orange Savers. My boyfriend usually comes with me and he is usually able to find CDs in great condition and for a fair price. I love going through the books here because it's always so well organized-- there is fiction, non-fiction, biographies, cookbooks, religion/spirituality, etc. They also have a really large selection of board games. Bad customer service!!! I get retail is not an easy job, but I came in with a Halloween costume (with the receipt) that I bought from them 4 days prior and they refused to let me exchange it (which is their policy!!!) The manager spouted some bs about how it's their "policy". If it's "policy", how come your customers do not know about it??? While checking out 4 days ago, no one told me that I would have a "window" to return Halloween items. It's not on their website either. Really, it's bs. If I had known I wouldn't be able to exchange it, I would never, ever have bought it. It's terrible quality for Savers own brand of Halloween costumes. I come here from time to time for clothing. It is overpriced and the clothing is in poor condition. I do not even bother coming here unless it is on one of their half off days which are few and far between. The racks are always jam packed full of stuff that nobody is buying because itnis very pricey and poor condition. Stained, holes, just major wear... stuff that should not even be put out for sale. If you are going to put stuff out like that why not price accordingly? Garbage brand suits from the 80s with holes and staining? $49.99 Sweaters with thick brown stuff smeared on te sleeve? $12.99. I have been in this store many times and have never had such a terrible experience. The sad thing about it is that it involved the store manager. I was trying to buy curtains for one window. The curtain was in two parts and they were both on the same hanger. Each half had a tag on it with the same price. I told her I would buy it for the price on one tag. She said they came in on different trucks and we would have to come back the next day and they would change the price. I informed her that I would be unable to come back the following day. With the price of gas and being that my time is valuable it was not worth the trip. The price that was on the two curtains would have been cheaper being purchased new from another store. That will be what I have chosen to do. This manager should be aware that sometimes things get marked incorrectly and she should be competent enough in her position to make a decision on her own. read more
