I asked, what about the other clothes - they claim they were not interested in it . When I walked in - the sales girl thought a bin of sneakers belonged to me - I said that's not mine . So to think if they are organized ? THEYRE NOT . If you donate $1000. 00 Worth of clothing - you get to write of approximately 20% . Stick to donating rather than getting $20-$30 for your items . Gift it to savacenter before giving it to an organization that makes 60-80% return on the items . Further , in order to get a decent evaluation - they want the items dry cleaned , ironed and on a hanger (new) so they can just take it , tag it and put it out to sell without any additional work for the 10-12 girls that work there . That's how they keep them all employees . I wish there were zero stars unfortunately I have to leave one since zero stars is not an option . It's so convenient to make "selling" appointments via calendly on their website. The process is super easy and you get in and out in no time. During covid social distancing and masks are required. I brought 90 pieces of clothing counting the sweat suit set as one piece. Which the manager told me they count each piece individually even if it's a set. So I gave them well over 100 pieces and they only counted 70! This company is a fraud. And they have stoled from me. I encourage you to bring 10 pieces at a time. BRING YOUR CLOTHES ELSEWHERE TO SELL OR DONATE! They will offer you $2 for top brands and then sell it for $20. They are so strict about clothes needing to be washed, folded and in a basket or bin, yet when it is returned to you everything is UNFOLDED and shoved back into your bin. Rude and unacceptable. I understand that they are sorting through many baskets and trying to move through fast, however I would rather wait an hour and a half and have my clothes returned in a similar manner that I dropped it off. Better than having to sit there myself and refold everything so I don't have to throw it back in dryer to dewrinkle it if I want to bring it elsewhere to donate. This place is such a ripoff. First, they're all pretty rude except for the girl who was doing the fitting rooms. But they only bought 11 items (of like 50) of mine and the offer was $23. I had good brands like Garage, Calvin Klein, Lulu lemon, etc. AND a brand new pair of mini uggs which they didn't even take and all I got was $23. Meanwhile I saw some of the same brands and even the same exact items I had being sold in the store for 5x the amount they bought them from me for. Obviously they need to make a profit but they are completely underpaying for the items if they're gonna charge high prices like they do. Spent almost 2 hours in here shopping waiting for them to sort my stuff and after my offer it was a complete waste of time. Never coming back here. Just like a few other people have wrote, I don't even think they looked through my clothes. I brought two huge bags of clothes that contained a lot of the brands they mention on their site. They told me it would be over an hour wait for them to look at everything and that I could drop my stuff off and they would text me when it's ready. I dropped my two bags off and less than 5 minutes later, they texted me saying they weren't buying anything. Based off the timing and the fact that the clothes in the bag were in the exact same spots as the way I dropped it off, I literally do not even think they looked at anything in the bags. And inside their store, you'll find a lot of clothes that are stained and bleached. Employees make it seem that every time we went there was an issue. Such a scam!!! Drove an hour from westchester since their ads say they give cash on the spot so thought it would be better than the realreal. Brought thousands of dollars worth of clothes from premium brands like Alice & Olivia, jbrand, ALC, Alo etc. First when I walk on they tell me they can't accept anything in bags it needs to be in a bin. Right off the bat this made absolutely no sense since they dumped the garments into their own bins so what's the difference between dumping it from a bag or a bin. The girl told me I had to go to Walmart to buy a bin, while she held onto the clothes that were in bags again making absolutely no sense but she was literally a child so wasn't going to even argue. Went to Walmart bought a bin for $12 which who cares because based on what I brought in I thought I would walk away with $100 at absolute bare minimum based on what the realreal has similar items priced. So after the bin situation she told me it would take an hour at least to go through the garments (even though I had an appt) and they will text me. Got a text an hour later to get my earnings, they only accepted half my items ( i brought at least 30 pieces) which idk why since they sell dirty off brand items with Holes in them but again was dealing with a child and not going to argue, but after alllllll of that they offer $25! Which after buying their bin brings me to about $12!!! Just go to the realreal or Poshmark or any other consignment store and save yourself the headache. Only left 1 star because I had to read more

Clothes: I think there's a pretty decent selection of items ranging from sizes XS to XXL. I liked that they had J. Crew, Zara,Coach, Kate Spade, and a few Anthropologie items. My fav stores! Employees: They're young. And they act it. Mostly nice girls, but loudly talking about some social drama and singing along to the songs on the radio... One girl in particular was rude. I came up to the desk to ask a question. She just started at me. I said "Hi..." She continued to state. No "Hi how are you." "How can I help you?" Nothing. It was weird. I really do not understand why you can't bring in clothing in reusable bags... I went there with two bags, one full of clothes and one full of shoes. They turned me away saying they can't look through bags, told me to go to Walmart and buy a bin.. okay fine. It was super incovienient and annoying but I accepted it. I came back with my things in a bin, and it took them about two hours to sort. Before I went back to pick up the money and gather the things they didn't want I called them. I figured because I live about 40 minutes away, I would see how much they would have given me because if it wasn't much I'd just ask them to donate it. Well the child I spoke to was obnoxiously rude, giving me such a hard time. I always find a few great items when I come here and the prices for the most part are really good. A lot of the pieces still have tags on or are in like new condition. As far as selling, about half of the time I've gone they weren't buying or purchased none or only one of the items in my sell bag. I love the way the store is organized to make it easy to find the brands and styles I'm looking for (Free People, VS, Northface, cool workout gear, etc.) They always have a great selection and I usually make at least one or two awesome "finds" every time I go (my favorite UGG boots, Hunter boots, a pair of brand new Nikes, Lululemon sports bras). I also find that I'm willing to try a look or style I wouldn't if I had to pay full price and usually end up loving it. It's a chance to splurge without guilt. I've also been super excited to get Men's sizes Northface, Under Armour, Nike, and more for my husband and sons. Also, in reading the reviews, it seems that the only unhappy people are those who try to sell to the store and are mad that their stuff wasn't accepted- which is probably why they have ONLY the good stuff! read more

I brought my clothing to Buffalo Exchange and they accepted NOTHING because apparently they've decided to get more and more "high-end". Whatever. Plato's however graciously bought 4 of my items at $18. No, Plato's doesn't give you a lot of money for your items, but that's what you should go in expecting because that's how they keep their selection so affordable! I'd rather get $18 for my clothing than just toss it out, am I right? Anyways, this Plato's in particular was so clean and organized and had such a great selection of items. This place literally tells me a new rule why they can't take clothes every time. I was told it's new management - well they suck. I've gone to multiple Plato's and they were more understanding. I've driven here from westchester three times in the past month. First time "oh we have too many clothes today try next time". Ok. Next time "oh new rules it has to been in a clear plastic bin." Ok I get my clear plastic bin and come. Now "we stop by 6:00pm" I came in at 6:10. A good business can deal with 10 minutes late - especially if it means possible new inventory. I just recently brought in a bag of clothes to Plato's Closet, and they gave me $40 for 10 items. However, 80% of my items were Free People (retail prices ranging from $68 to $128). Two out of the 10 items I sold to Plato's were Free People dresses, that are currently being sold on FP's website for $68 each, but I essentially got $4 per dress which I find to be absolutely insane. Prior to handing over my bag of clothes the sales associate informed me that there is a computer system that they use to figure out the pricing (along with evaluating styles, wear and tear, etc. which I completely understand). But the fact that I only got $4 for a dress that is currently selling on the manufacturers website for $68 and was worn once is simply wrong and Plato's valuation system needs to be adjusted. When I was told I would be given $40 for the 10 items I bit my tongue, took the money and left because I needed the extra closet space but I hope others will learn from my mistake... I understand bringing in some old stuff from Forever 21, Gap, Old Navy, etc. and Plato's will do the job. But the fact that I was also given under $10 for one of my Free People shirts that I purchased for $128 is unfair. I STRONGLY recommend bringing your higher end items to your local consignment shop where you will get the proper valuation and price you deserve or posting your clothes on websites/apps like Poshmark. I must say the sales staff was very friendly and informative but the system needs some work. read more

This is the perfect place to shop if you want casual stuff and don't want to pay a lot for it. I got a bunch of American eagle shirts for maybe $6 each, a pair of Vans for $16 and a bunch of jeans and shorts for like $12 each I think. I found a lot of other good stuff like Champion sweatshirts and Free People dresses but I just didn't like how they looked on me. A lot of people complain about selling to them and it's kind of unfair to give them bad reviews for it just because you are annoyed you didn't get enough for your stuff? My friend brought her stuff and actually made a pretty decent amount based on what they took. She donated the rest and at first I thought it meant you donate it to them but they donate to a non-profit for adults with disabilities (I don't remember what it's called). It's way more convenient to sell to them then trying to sell a bunch of your stuff on an app, you might not get as much but it's way less effort to drop off your bags of clothes and hope for the best. I don't go to thrift stores that often (mostly because searching through racks is a nightmare) but this just felt like a different experience. It didn't have that "thrift store" smell, it smelled like any other store in the mall. The staff was also sooo nice not just to customers but to each other too. I know that's a weird thing to notice but it seems like a positive work place which is probably why they are so friendly and in a good mood when they talk to customers. My ONLY complaint is that when it got a little busier certain parts of the store got crowded and I had to keep saying excuse me to get around people and I felt bad bumping into people every so often. I used to love going here to sell my old clothes but over the past 2 years every time I go there is always a problem. "We aren't buying today" "oh we stopped buying early" when I legit call to make sure they are buying and the workers tell me they are buying. I drive a really long way to come visit the store and there Is always a problem which is so disappointing. It's not like I'm bringing random shit for them to sift through, I have learned what is great for the store and always bring the best, just so disappointed how frustrating this process has become. From a customers perspective, this is a *fantastic* consignment shop for anyone whose interested in relevant trends. I wish I would have found this in high school instead of paying full price for clothes that truly are just not worth it. If you enjoy the styles of Forever 21, Hollister, American Eagle, Urban Outfitters etc. you will be able to find something you like. The girls that work there are very sweet and friendly. I feel that most sellers would be less frustrated if they understood that: clothing is not an investment in the traditional sense and definition, as clothing only depreciates in value. Hence the beauty of consignment stores. Seeing how much the clothing I've bought full price at the mall is actually worth when trying to re-sell it (here OR on eBay) has made me re-examine my own spending habits when always wanting to buy new at the big chain stores. It's certainly made me appreciate more quality over quality when buying for myself in the future. This of course is not counting true vintage high end luxury brands like Chanel, Prada etc. Those items still and will always have an extremely high resale value. I'm huge into eBay and sell at Plato's closet when I don't expect to get a lot back for my items. I've seen what some sellers try to bring in, and they wonder why they won't take their items. They are selective and picky for obvious reasons, clearly they have enough inventory. The bigger benefit at Platos is really if you're a buyer. What people will buy used clothing for is really so little, and on top of that they have to profit enough to make rent and pay their employees. I don't think many people think about the big picture when 'selling' to them. It's exactly the bigger picture that determines what little you will get in exchange for your items. It's great for extra cash, and as an alternative to good will or just giving your things away, it's nice to get a little something. If you're someone whose looking to get the absolute most for your stuff (assuming they are in above average condition) eBay and the like are the way to go. I would hesitate giving them any leather good designer brands. What you actually get from them as a seller is criminal in comparison to what you could net on eBay. But, if you don't care and are just happy to get a little extra cash, then no harm no foul! I think managing your expectations is key as a seller here, and as a customer you only benefit! read more

I brought in 2 very new, well taken care of and stylish coats to sell on top of clothes from a popular brands and they couldn't accept any because they were "worn" and "had a few spots" which wasn't the case at all so basically lied to me! Their shoes are disgusting and beyond "lightly used", I've found jeans in there from when they were in style 5 years ago, and items you can tell were beyond worn! I always go back and forth whether to bring clothes here because I like the idea of being sustainable and also having a few dollars in my pocket, but it shouldn't be judged based on how one person looking through likes the clothes! read more

All of the employees sanitize and wear their masks PROPERLY as well as kindly but firmly enforce the rules about customers wearing masks properly too!!!! Overall great prices, great stuff, clean place, smells good too which was surprising for a thrift store. Literally the worst experience of my entire life. I brought in 10 totes full of clothes between me and my mother. They said give us about an hour or so. So me and my mother went across the street to Texas Roadhouse and before we even got our food a half hour later we both received a text that our offers were ready. First of all 30 mins is not enough time to even look though all those clothes but ok. So we finish eating and go back. They say we would like to buy these FOUR items the rest isn't good enough. First of all if you don't want it fine but you don't need to be so fucking rude. Especially because it's a ton of really cute clothes and all of my friends always go "shopping" in my closet that are high school kids. Then they have the audacity to offer me $12 for the 4 pieces they did pick. THE ONE BODY SUIT HAD A TAG ON IT FOR $17.99 STILL! They flipped all the clothes upside down i barely could fit it back in my car. I'm going to be as fair as possible with this review and say that simply, they fill a niche and they're good with that niche. For those who want mall-quality clothes without having to pay mall-level prices, this store is great. For those who're going there to sell, I'll save you a trip and the disappointment and tell you exactly what I was told when I went there to sell. The staff was fairly nice, but they made it crystal clear that unless the clothes I brought in had been purchased brand new within the past 2 years (18 months to be exact) they weren't interested. I guess the only exception to this rule is if it's something that's in really high demand. I brought a lot of really nice, barely or very lightly worn items, including never worn boots and Guess brand high heels. They were maybe about 3 years old, so I didn't say anything and I hoped that they'd at least take something. Nope. Not one item from the huge bag I brought in was sold. I just shrugged it off, since I didn't go out of my way and was in the area anyway, but there was one thing that struck me. I browsed the store while I was waiting and noticed a huge lack of plus sized womens' clothes. There were tons of good quality plus sized clothes in the bag I brought. If the one exception to the 18 month rule was that it was something in high demand, wouldn't they be more desiring of plus-sized clothing? As a plus sized woman, I know from experience that I don't care if something is the latest style, I'm just tickled when I go to a thrift shop and find anything in my size that suits my taste. Granted, I might just be in the lowest percentile of people who've shopped there, but still, it struck me as a bit odd. For those trying to sell purses that are name brand with certificates of authenticity or whatever, I'd recommend trying to sell on eBay or on tag sale groups on Facebook, since obviously this chain doesn't seem to care about value, as much as they care about trendiness. So, long story short, if you have some clothes you wanted to return to some store at the mall, but it's a bit past the days stated in the return policy, or you're a clothes horse who needs a whole new wardrobe every blessed season, then by all means, bring them here and you'll probably make out well. However, if you have anything older than 2 years, do yourself a favor and find another consignment shop or try eBay or Offer Up. I wasn't the biggest fan of One More Tyme here in Seymour, but I'm definitely going to just patronize them from now on. read more

This rating is based on selling mostly. I recently brought a huge box of clothing. They wanted none of what I had brought, but had the nerve to ask if I wanted to donate any of it. NO! I do not donate to consignment. The associate told me the items they were looking for, and several of the items they rejected were items they are looking for. My boyfriend brought a few button down shirts and a pair of khakis. Very basic shirts, some good brands, Landsend and American Eagle. The pants were A&F. They didn't want any of his items either. He was told they are "being very selective", and once again asked if he would donate. After seeing some of the clothes they have on their racks, I don't understand why. I've seen things on their racks with holes. The clothes we brought were in great condition, and well known brands. We brought in Abercrombie, Calvin Klein, Jennifer Lopez, American Eagle, and Forever 21. Brands we have been told they are looking for. Do not bring your items here to sell. If you have the patience sell them on the app Vinted, you get to set your own prices, and most of the money is yours. If not find a different consignment store for your items in good condition. read more
