So the ambiance started out well and our party of seven was guided to the top floor where we were seated just aside the railing that overlooked the first floor. Despite appearances in the end what it really comes down to is the food which was average at its best. The soup du jour was a butternut squash which was good enough as a starter. Once we made it to the main courts things changed for the worse. While most people ordered pizza which I had the chance to sample I ordered the braised beef ravioli. The pizza was good. I'm not sure I can put my finger on exactly what made it a 3 out of 5, but maybe the fact that the crust was not crispy or that overall the ingredients lacked flavor and for lack of a better term ....individuality. Okay so now for the braised beef ravioli. Honestly, in the end it felt like I was eating Chef Boyardee raviolis out of the can. It was absolutely disrespectful to have served such low quality food. One thing that will make or break an experience is the service. While the server was nice enough to talk with he began rushing our table through the meal. Bringing to go containers while we were still eating and had not asked for them, not offering dessert or asking if we wanted anything more, all took away from the experience Honestly, there are much better pizza places in the area and I have to believe there are better restaurants to go to. Has a sort of cottage feel, but even the cheapest room has a TV, air conditioning, and a private bathroom--also a stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave. Note that, while our room did have a computer, it didn't have an operating system installed. There is free WiFi, though, so bring a laptop. Another perk is the Subway (the restaurant) directly across the street, which stays open until 1:00am. The cheapest room was 65$C per night.

Rather than ordering from the menu, I gave our server complete creative freedom and asked her to choose my entire meal without telling me what I'd be getting. It turned out to be one of the best dining decisions I've ever made. The evening began with an exquisite foie gras served with duck and a beautifully balanced fruit purée. The texture was impossibly smooth and luxurious, while the flavors were rich, elegant, and unlike anything I've experienced before. For my main course, she selected perfectly seared scallops accompanied by a delicate tortellini and a silky scallop purée. We didn't have to wait long to be seated even though there were six of us. There were so many appealing items on the menu that it was hard to chose. Our server, Chau, was patient and helpful (even when I changed my mind about what to eat). Most of us ordered non-alcoholic drinks (their lemonade is delicious and not too sweet) and their home-baked bread, which was cut into quarters, was hearty and delicious, especially with the fresh butter that melted on impact. I started out with the Gaspacho, which was nice and cold, flavorful and just a bit chunky. For the main course I chose the Lobster Roll, without the roll, with half salad and half french fries. The meal in total was out of this world, and if I lived here I'd be at this place frequently. This restaurant also has facilities for recreation such as swimming pools, spa and I believe you can book a room as well. The grounds are spectacular and a perfect place to get away from the city. They do have a tiny shop that sells wool and knitted goods but most of their business is hosting weddings and other events on their beautiful property. There was one going on while we were there. When you arrive, there is a large parking lot. Once you leave the lot, you walk down steps to a real covered bridge. You walk along the pathway to the shop and ticket office. Along the way you will see a small enclosure with sheep and goats. A short distance away is the old mill that is now used for events, and the hiking trails. You can pay a fee of C$14.95 per person and walk the trails but we opted not to do that. Maybe some other time. When leaving, you drive over the covered bridge to get to Autoroute 55 and head back to Vermont.

Parking was available both outside and indoors, unfortunately, the indoor parking garage smelled like dead mice and the odor lingered in my car for a few hours even after I drove away. I'm hoping the bad smell in the garage was caused by a temporary rodent problem and isn't a permanent thing. I liked using the indoor pool. The hot tub was more like a lukewarm tub but it was still nice. This hotel is in a great location and I walked to Tim Horton's, the supermarket, the pharmacy, and to the downtown area. It's also right by the lake and a park. I loved the view from our room. Since I rarely eat breakfast, I didn't go to the breakfast room but the two other people in my family went and said breakfast was just ok, not bad but nothing special. The architecture of the building is different and I mostly liked it. The raw concrete aesthetic in the room was not to my taste but I did like the design of the lobby and the chill music playing by the elevators. I'm glad we stayed in this hotel!
