Teepee in winter at Hovey Manor

A really delicious place to be when you want to switch off, time flow differently there. Best food and incredible awesome service. Good for all seasons of the year. Magical winter time, Colourful fall, fresh spring and amazing summer. Always look forward to go back there.

We recently spent 2 nights in one of the individual "cabins" at the Manoir, and despite finding the locale including the surrounding countryside lovely, I thought the tariff of more than US$425/night to be excessive, given the quality of the room. I expect you're paying for the Relais&Chateaux connection, because even factoring in breakfast and dinner, I can't find the price delivers the value I'd expect. The "cabin" was fine, though the blow dryer had loose wiring causing it to stop every few minutes, and needing a shake to restart. Bathroom counter space was limited (a pet peeve), and the space is cramped. It's also a dark room, with small windows, and since it's got a hillside behind it and trees around it felt quite closed in and dark. Wifi was unreliable in the room. Outside you'll find Adirondack chairs facing the lake, gardens where staff harvest edible flowers for dinner, tennis court, pool, and kayaks for the lake. Bicycles are available to guests also. Dinner pushes the limits of creativity, and though I consider myself a "foodie", I thought the preparations sacrificed good taste in favor of unusual locally sourced items that frankly just didn't taste great, though they looked pretty.

I highly recommend Hovey Manor. You come for a couple of days of relaxation in a quaint village in the Eastern Townships. Or, for amazingly good food and a great nights sleep! That's why I came. It's an easy hour and a half drive from Montreal. Rooms are great. I love the Nespresso machines with 4 flavor a of liquid non dairy creamers. Vanilla and Irish cream are the best. The l'Occitaine province soaps are exotic and appreciated. We had a lot of fun with the free bikes (rode to Cappelton and back in two hours). In the area is a great new sparkling winery, cheese factories horse back riding etc. but the best part is the food. Just amazing. Beautiful creative food. The best part is the food is normal food. What I mean is the vogue of serving animal innards and strange molds and fatty stomachs. Brains and nasty stuff with French names is not here. Just tasty normal food. If they serve beef order it. Of fish order it. If vegetables get it. Basically everything is superb. I'll be back. It may take 5 years but I'll be back.

I have never stayed overnight since my in-laws have a home on the lake. However, it is my favorite place to come when I am up there. I love the setting, the service, the gardens and the food. I love any excuse to spend time at Hovey Manoir.

First class service. Very friendly staff. Accommodations more than comfortable. Stayed in room with king bed, and fireplace. They have kuerig type coffee maker in room, comfortable robes, turn down service. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant but it was very good. The granola they make on their buffet table was my favorite. The French Toast was really good. We stayed in the fall at peak fall color so it was really a prefect stay. My husband went out in canoe. The boats are free to use. I enjoyed sitting out on dock in the chairs on the beautiful day. Highly recommend.

Every single thing we ate was divine, and I still can taste the sourdough bread which came out piping hot with fresh butter.

The place is beautiful, the photos do not do the rooms justice, and the breakfast is simply phenomenal. The hosts were really nice and stayed up to accommodate us driving in late. The rooms are well appointed, the bathrooms nice and clean. The grounds of the place is beautiful, lots of wildflowers, and next to a lake. Did I mention the three-course breakfast? Local jams with turkey pate, waffles with lots of wonderful fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a crème brûlée grapefruit. I'm sad I didn't get to spend as much time here this time, but definitely planning to come back for a longer stay next time.

The location is ideal for Magog, you're right by the cute bridge by the cute park and beach and the awesome local brew pub is a few steps away and so is the Rue Principale, ie; main street, with other cute restaurants and shops. The bed was super comfortable, the sheets and pillows were so deeply cosy, the room had it's own clean, nice little bathroom. There is a fireplace downstairs in a common room that connects to a whole hallway of maps and guidebooks for the region. The dining room is full of light and set with lovely cutlery, white table cloths, lace curtains, so calm and sunny and lovely. The owner will serve you coffee and juice in a champagne glass and then a 4 course beautiful breakfast which by the way, she made. She's happy to tell you about the different jams and preserves, the local cheeses and meats she's using, etc. She's calm and sweet and generally makes you feel at home, without that awkwardness... Because let's be real, I'm not always a fan of the bed and breakfast, sometimes this can be weird with weird forced interactions with strangers and mediocre food made by non-food professionals. The Merry Manor is the opposite, it's the best, so friendly and intimate and awesome, and I'll be back for sure.

Although the place shows a tired look, it was reasonably clean. The suite was spacious with a small kitchenette equipped with a fridge, toaster oven, coffee maker, basic cutlery and glassware. There is an outside gas BBQ and some garden chairs. The highlight of this place, in my opinion, is the open air hot tubs which we were very fond of, especially with the freezing cold air temperature outside. There is also a non heated outside swimming pool which was unfortunately closed due to recent high wind. Inside is a swimming pool and a hot tub. Dinner at the restaurant was exquisite. Service impeccable. Best Pudding Chômeur ever. Breakfast, the next day, was well over expectations in terms of the variety ranging from pancakes on order to smoked salmon, hot dishes like beacon, sausages, potatoes and an impressive variety of other yummies too many to mention. So many desserts. A feast for the eyes. Would totally recommend this place.

Room was set up well we had a suite with our own balcony that had the view of the mountain for $ 45 more. View was great but I wouldn't pay for it again. We had a BBQ so on our second night we went in to town to make some surf & turf. There's 4 hot tubs outside and 1 pool inside with a hot tub as well. Large pool outside is closed in the winter as it's seasonal. There's a huge sauna and a quiet meditation room which I didn't like it wasn't warm enough and the chairs don't have cushions and the fire place is barely lit. We had a great time but we didn't eat at the hotel as I had surprise reservations at fondissimo. ( fondue ) everything closes at 11 pm hot tubs, bars, restos close before 10 pm including room service. I had a great relaxing time and can't wait untill our next visit!
