Exactly the way I like it. One of the few places that actually gets this right! So if you are in the area and feel like fish and chips wonder in and enjoy!

We ended up waiting 15 mins for our order and it seemed they had a good efficient system going. Excellent service too - smiles all round from the staff who seemed unphased by the crowd. As for the food - you can get fish, chicken or the inescapable potato scallops, that's about it. We had popper chicken, chips and scallops with a $1.20 tub of sauce. Now personally I think charging for sauce is a crime but I don't begrudge the small business owner the chance to increase their margins. And it was good nosh, enjoyed in the shade on a warm day amongst other happy customers. We will be back, and next time will probably take our paper bundle of yumminess down to the beach!

You can take away, or they have places to eat both inside and out, but I normally order from the little area out the back. They also serve alcohol! Their opening hours appear random. I've been there quite late at night and they've been open, they told me they close whenever it gets quiet. Is it the best fish and chip place around? Probably not. But I like it.

So, on a nostalgic note, we headed there today - a place we hadn't been back to for over 20 years - yet relatively nearby. The weather was ideal, a high of 23C, light winds and sunny. And as we often do at beachside restaurants went in search of one doing an admirable fish 'n chips for lunch. Not knowing the area, or the best proprietors of such fishy fare, we settled on this haunt. And what a bad choice it was. Two orders of Cod & Chips, with the fish crumbed and an extra piece of Cod for our furry family member - $44 in total. The crumb was tasteless, fell off the fish without hardly picking it up, yet the Cod almost tasted like it...Cod. More salt please to bring out the flavour of the crumb and fish. The chips were a horrid yellow colour and well-cooked but has anyone heard of seasoning here? We just opted for regular salt rather than chicken salt but I think we got "no salt." It's unfortunate that a nostalgic trip to the past was ruined by an unsatisfactory purchase of fish 'n chips, by a place being touted as the best on Bribie Island. That, in and of itself, sounds fishy enough.

The Local Fisho is far better than many other takeaway places in the area.
