As a family of 4 with 3 & 8 year old we wanted to visit this museum since it was close to Tellus museum. Also as part of the Bank of America Museum on Us program, we were able to get adults tickets for free but we still paid for kids. The whole museum with vintage cars to see it live in person it was wonderful. The have car brands from Chevy corvette, Buick, ford, Pontiac, Ferrari and Dodge. The cars are in pristine condition and it was wonderful to see how the cars have evolved. Another tip when visiting, there is no extension poles for the cameras is allowed and the staff were kind enough to use it for our 360 camera in the lowest position. The whole visit we are able to finish within 2-3 hours(with kids) :-) read more

Rare car enthusiasts will definitely enjoy. Just off GA20 in Cartersville sits the Savoy Automobile museum. Beautiful building and grounds. They do have public car shows from time to time as well to show off the local cars. Love the way they came up with the name Savoy. As they were clearing the building site an old rusted, beat up Plymouth Savoy was uncovered in the overgrowth. Car is displayed outside in its found, unrestored condition. There are 5 areas to view. One static and the other 4 change about every 4 months. Pretty cool collections on display. Movie tributes, customs, race cars, kit cars, etc. They also have a movie theater that plays automotive themed movies, check out their website. When we attended, March 2025, there were 55 cars on display. Nice place to visit and will likely again after the display rotates to different themes. read more

From entry to exit, I was wowed over and over. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The cars were kept in immaculate condition, with many of the paint jobs looking like glass or giving a pristine mirror reflection. I went during another event but it's super budget friendly and such a cool place to visit with the kids or even for a simple date. I'm a true car lover and I was in awe. What went from a drive through the countryside became a visit to the car museum. The beautifully manicured lawn and the stark windswept sculpture mimicking the Pontiac hood ornament is a great place to go for a laid back easygoing visit. Many of the well know brands are prevalent along with an interesting hall for a special guest of interest. Beautiful well maintained treasures of the times gone past. There's about 50-60 cars there. So it's not cumulative. Just go an enjoy it. Great AC if you are worried about being warm, the rest rooms are spiffy, if you are hungry they have food. I highly recommend this read more

It's not a massive collection like the Porsche museum in Stuttgart or the Henry Ford in Dearborn but it is definitely large, well organized and varied. Unexpected to find something this great in rural Georgia. The exhibits rotate and I was fortunate to catch the "75 years of Porsche" which had a wonderful and approachable collection. I particularly appreciated that the windows on the bright yellow 1976 911S were rolled down. I was able to stick my head inside and inhale - it smelled just like the 1980 911 that my Dad used to own. Happy memories. Lots of other really impressive vehicles on display. It was fun listening to the owner of the 1949 Jaguar XK210 Roadster talk about how he acquired it and how he takes care of it. Free wifi and a neat gift shop. You can expect to spend at least two or three hours here looking at these amazing works of art. I'm not a car person. I actually held a pretty good job with a car manufacturer in California, umpteen years ago ... but car exhibits really don't interest me. HOWEVER ... I enjoyed my visit to the Savoy. The building is spacious and modern. Even the bathrooms are cool. Descriptions accompanying each vehicle are quite interesting. And you'll see things -- like Hank Williams Jr.'s truck -- that might pique your interest. The art (more my speed) is gorgeous. Admission is $15 per person. Would be nice if they had a senior discount.... Exhibits change periodically, and if this is your kind of place, you can get an annual pass. The grounds are beautiful, and parking is free. A good activity for a hot day. Air conditioning is strong! read more

First visit today with my wife and children. We were really enjoying ourselves until a rude red shirt employee made a loud comment from across the room about my baby and his breast milk baby bottle. He attempted to educate me in front of everyone at the museum rather than coming up to me to let me know the rule was no outside food or drinks "even though it's a stupid rule" as he put it. Well your rules on your website DO NOT state no breast milk for babies as that is generally excluded from all rules unless specifically addressed in the museum rules...which it is NOT. Due to the way we were addressed, we decided to leave immediately and will not be coming back. Maybe take the time to educate staff on rule enforcement and guest interaction. Your gentlemen at the ticket counter were amazing. This guy was a complete jerk and doesn't deserve to be in a museum setting. Telling me that I can purchase food and drink from the cafe was laughable as I would assume that breast milk is NOT on the menu. Do better. Be better. This is a great museum to visit. I wont repeat all the details/praise in the other reviews, only to say the docents and volunteers were so friendly and had great stories and explanations to share - they really made the visit come alive. Beautiful grounds, setting and designed building. The exhibits are wonderful showing the passage of technology, design and entertainment - a real treat. We took our 7 year old grandson and he had so much fun - he can read and loves cars. There is a "no touch" policy. The exhibits apparently change frequently so it does lend itself to repeat visits. The highlight on our trip was the Indy race cars exhibits. read more

To be honest, my fun meter was pegged after the first two of four galleries but my husband could have spent four more hours looking at and reading about the classic cars displayed in the Savoy Automobile Museum. Classic cars are the stars of this museum. Four galleries full of pristine, shiny hunks of metal, each accompanied by it's story, provenance and statistics. One gallery showcases cars owned by the museum including an Edsel, a DeLorean and a Studebaker among many, many others. Special exhibitions occur monthly, currently featuring the history of the Porsche and a gallery of cars associated with Georgia Tech. In addition to the cars themselves, there is automobile memorabilia and artwork featuring, you guessed it, cars. Two items that really caught my eye were a piece of the finish line from the Atlanta Motor Speedway and a depiction of a "Woody" made of Rubik Cube squares. Don't laugh, even the tile work in the restrooms is worth seeing. Do not miss the rusty hunk of metal in the parking lot - I won't tell you it's significance - just don't miss it. My husband has a classic Mercedes that's been in pieces in our garage for years - I call it the "shelving unit" because it has stuff piled all over it. I hope seeing these motorized beauties gives him the impetus to start working on it - maybe you'll even see it displayed at the Savoy someday! read more

Do I recommend? OH HECK YAZZ! The cars on display are constantly changing so they keep you coming back for more. The museum is named after the car (a Savoy) found on the land "which is now a permanent fixture outside" Inside you will find (as you enter) a very nice lunch area to your left (make sure you in there and look up) you will see a huge like 30 foot model a type wheel in the ceiling. To the right of the entrance you will see some artifacts from their other museums and Straightahead it's a gift shop. One of the features this time around was directional big foot Monster truck as well as and all electric Bigfoot "very cool" Inside there are separate rooms with different displays. I honestly could not tell you which was my favorite car as they all were straight up eye candy to me. The paint in some of the older vehicles are just amazing and the body lines reminded me why some cars are like a beautiful classy woman and others are like the party girl "both are fantastic in their own special way" One of the highlights "and there were many mind you" were the commissioned artwork, they actually had something that looked just like a painting but it was made from real Rubiks cubes! My favorite however was a picture a lady looking out of her truck it was lifelike. If you are into cars and want to experience a fantastic car exhibit come here, trust me you will not be disappointed. read more

This museum has some amazing automobiles. They showcase different years and model types; they're currently showcasing small/tiny imports, muscle cars and old race cars. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable, and there's a cafe that serves decent food. Some weekends they have open hood so you can see the engines. Highly recommend the annual pass. read more

What a GREAT auto museum, we are so lucky to have something like this just North of Atlanta, very easy drive up to Cartersville GA. They have a very nice selection of cars from different decades and they have been rotating different exhibits in and out approximately every 3 months or so. They have had exhibits of Art Deco cars, an awesome exhibit of Pirelli tire shod cars, and another of vintage race cars from the Indy series. They just brought in a fantastic exhibit of American muscle cars that brought back many memories of the 60's and 70's. Definitely worth a visit, tickets are inexpensive and they offer an annual pass that has some additional benefits. Plenty of private parking available and there is a nice cafe inside for snacks, drinks and hot meals. read more

The exterior of this building is beautiful. I couldn't believe how beautiful this building looked from far away. The acres of land are amazing. Is only $15 to get in and children $5. For being just a huge building, I was expecting more cars. They definitely have the room . It took me about 30 to 40 minutes to see everything. Nice area to eat plenty of room . But what else that sold me is that they have a movie theater inside. Great for dates or taking the family out. A must to do on my list. Nice collection of cars. Wonderful museum quality cars. A lot of very old Indy race cars were displayed as well as a room of Packards. Lots of other old cars. Took you back to a time when there was lots of chrome, bench seats, gear shift on column. White wall tires and manual everything in the car. Employees are very nice and knowledgeable. read more

Excellent museum, like its sister museums (Bartow History Museum, Booth Western Art Museum, and Tellus Science Museum). Clear, intriguing, spacious, lovely, and lots of amazing, really cool cars. While the hoods aren't up, you can get pretty much as close to the cars as you like (without touching them) to see inside and from all angles. Signage on the vehicles is pretty cool. As someone who knows nothing about cars, I was through the entire museum in 90 minutes, but if you love cars, I'm sure you could spend the whole day here. I'd estimate there were maybe 60 vehicles on display. The driveway is pretty long, just to be aware; not a problem, but you feel like you drive literally around the museum to get to the parking lot, which is quite a ways from the front door. Not sure why it was designed that way, but it's not really a big issue. Very worth visiting. Some amazing vehicles in amazing shape; the restoration work alone is fantastic. Friendly people. Didn't try the cafe, but the food looked pretty good. read more

This review comes with my automotive experience. I'm a retired automotive manufacturing engineer and volunteer at another automobile museum. My volunteer work includes photography and researching the history of each of hundreds of cars in our collection. I will give an overall impression, discuss the different exhibit galleries and even a brief review of the cafe. Savoy displays cars as works of art, and they are truly beautiful. While I did not study the cars to rate them competitively or for quality rating, they were very nice. No real defects jumped out at me. The cars are spaced far enough for great photography. Some cars had no barriers and I assume those are from the Savoy Collection. Others had a gentle reminder that was nothing more than a black cord at ankle height. Great for viewing and photography, yet they clearly said, "Don't Touch" Compared to the museum where I volunteer, there were many monitors keeping a close eye on all displays. There were so many, it made me feel a bit uncomfortable, as if they expected you to violate their behavior expectations. I did not hear them correcting any guests so perhaps I was just paranoid. One of my duties as a volunteer at my museum is to dust off the cars and wipe any miscreant fingerprints. None of the volunteers I saw had any touch-up supplies. Just driving in was an experience. Grounds are perfectly manicured and are big enough to put in a golf course. The main drive is long, sweeping and gives you a great view of the fine architecture of the place. Overall, the place is immaculately clean. Even the restrooms were spotless and the decor was very nice. Overhearing a volunteer, I learned that they rotate a gallery every four months, which certainly will bring locals back and again many times. The main gallery on my visit featured a number of open wheel racers, many from the Indianapolis Speedway Museum. That museum is undergoing extensive remodeling, so it make sense for them to lend out part of their collection. I've visited the Indy museum several times and have never seen any of these cars. They must be from their archives. Several of them were simply amazing technical examples. To the right, the first gallery was a collection of cars from movies. That was fun. Again, the cars were spotless and it was a bit of a thrill getting up close to the steel that created great movie memories. The next gallery was a nice collection of semi-modern production cars that were nice. One more gallery featured women in racing. Shirley "Cha-Cha" Muldowny was featured not only in this gallery, but her artifacts were in display cases and the main lobby held one of her Top Fuel cars. The rest of this gallery included women who excelled in sports cars, dwarf race cars, sprint, and open wheel. The final gallery lacked a theme, which was a bit confusing. The cars were great, however and ranged from race cars to luxury and sports cars. The highlight of this gallery was the "Ramblin' Wreck" featured at Georgia Tech sporting events - a replica 1932(?) Ford Model A(?) It was nice to have a cafe to get a bite to eat and get off your feet for a while. They had BEER! I got their featured hamburger, which was a nice blend of different beef, including some premium cuts. It was very flavorful but just a tad dry. Pasta salad provided tricolor curls that were nicely cooked with a slightly sweet taste. Prices were within expected levels. My friend and I were confused by the service. Severs brought you the food. My friend asked for chips which did not come out with his meal. No one ever told him that he was to pick his own from a display by the register. Likewise, no one told us where condiments, eating utensils, napkins and such were. They were all in a remote corner of the cafe lobby. read more

We visited the Savoy Automobile Museum on a recent Sunday afternoon. It is located a couple of miles north of Cartersville, GA (which also has other worthwhile museums, including the Booth Western Art Museum and the Tellus Science Museum). My first tip is that you need to access the Savoy from Hwy 411. It looks like you can enter from Hwy 20 (the museum has a large campus at this intersection), but there is apparently NO access from Hwy 20. Once you turn in, there is quite a long approach circling to the rear of the complex to park. The museum had only been open for a month or so when we visited. Everything about the facility looked new / fresh. They have quite a large main exhibit building as well as a large secondary building (maybe where they work on cars?). It seemed like they had not fully built it out yet, but they already have quite a number of cars on display. These ranged from a few NASCAR vehicles to a land-speed record car, an Indy / F1 race car, and a lot of 'classic' 1930s - 1950s production cars. They even had a Georgia Tech Wreck replica. The site also had a cafeteria though we didn't use it. One other interesting feature was near the parking lot - a rusting junk car. Someone said that they found it on the site when they were preparing for construction and, rather than selling it for scrap, they incorporated it into the grounds. I thought that was a nice touch. I'd consider returning here a year or two out after they've added even more cars, or if they had some sort of special exhibit. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area or are a car-enthusiast. read more

I'll check off this as #4 of Cartersville's big 5 of museums & historical sites (Tellus, Booth, Etowah Mounds, Savoy & Bartow Historical). This is a fairly new museum & is well maintained. Lots of antiques cars & trucks in beautiful condition. Especially liked by this Ga. Tech grad was the Ga. Tech section sporting a replica Model A "Ramblin' Wreck" as well as half-dozen GT-student-built contraptions from solar-cell powered electric to a dune buggy looking "wreck." There's not much for younger kids unless they just really love cars. Even the gift shop has precious little for kids (hey, maybe that's good!). Maybe they'll add a kids play area after they've been open longer. One gripe - we tried to go on July 4th after calling (a recording) & visiting website & finding nothing to suggest it was closed. We drove the 30-minutes to Cartersville only to find the barriers up & all dark. I emailed to request at least adding something like "closed on holidays" but never heard back. My wife an I visited mid-week, and also had lunch at the cafeteria. Now open for 6 months, the exhibit halls are full of interesting vehicles, some of which I'd never heard of. And I've been to a good number of similar exhibits. The majority of the cars are from the 1930s and newer, and in addition there was a selection of racing cars from the 50s to a brand new Formula 1, They plan to change the selection every few months, so in 6 months there ought to be a practically new museum to visit. Cafe lunch was very good. Two sandwiches with chips and a large cookie was $18. Burger was supposed to have onion rings, but they had run out because of a large tour group that had come in earlier. Still didn't leave hungry. People in charge are all very pleasant. The young men in red shirts are the security team, given that the value of the cars on display totals many millions of dollars. I've driven by this place a number of times. Finally had a free Saturday afternoon with the wife and decided to check it out. I saw on the website they are also an event venue. Might be a cool place for our company Xmas party. But alas, the girl in charge of booking events works one day every 2 weeks. And it wasn't today. First, the outside looks great. Landscaping, building design, the giant chrome hood ornament. Guess that's how they draw you in. $15 seemed reasonable. We looked through 5 rooms and a main hallway full of cars. Maybe 50 total. All very nice. Wish the hoods were open. That seemed strange. But even reading all the info signs, we were done in 45 minutes. Seems bigger from the outside. Thought there would be more. They have a cafe. But what's the point with countless restaurants nearby. They also have a gift shop. Didn't fall for that either. They will mention the annual pass of course for $55. I can't see myself going back, let alone 4 times a year. I've been to an awful lot of car museums better that this for less money. I'm a car guy. A Chevy guy actually. I was marginally disappointed honestly. Good tourist trap not far off the interstate. Might be a money maker. I don't know. read more
