021 / 100 - 2017 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. Finally, someone I can trust to do my hydrafacials! Like clockwork, my cystic acne decided to make a visit with Aunt Flo and I was struggling on what to do about it. I was using Differin (a god send), but just like every millennial, I wanted results right away... so I decided to get a hydrafacial instead of the usual cortisone/kenalog shot! It had been a while since I had had a hydrafacial, so I wanted to try someone new. I found Savvy Skin Spa on Yelp, liked the location and pricing, and decided to schedule something ASAP! Nicole is a pretty busy person, so I wasn't surprised to see that she was all booked up for the weekend (and pretty much the entire month of May, too). Thankfully I found an appointment that would work for me, so I scheduled that immediately and all I had to do was wait for the day of my appointment! I do want to note that the location is kind of difficult to find (Google maps doesn't really point it out correctly lol), but Nicole was sweet and left me a voicemail with directions. Unfortunately I did NOT see or hear it because I was coming straight from work and was busy driving, but it was very nice of her to do that. :) Savvy Skin Spa is located in ANOTHER office (I think it was an acupuncture one), so when you're circling the plaza looking for Savvy Spa... keep an eye out for that instead lol. There is ample parking and it seems like the plaza itself isn't that busy, so that was nice! When you get off the freeway and turn into the plaza, Savvy Spa is located on THE LEFT SIDE, NEAR THE CENTER. Don't do what I did and start with the right - I ended up circling and wasting time bahahaha. Once I got in, it was smooth sailing from there. Nicole had me fill out a brief form that covered my current medications, regiment for skincare, etc. Once we got that out of the way, she asked a few more questions about what I was currently doing to better understand my skin and then we got started! Something I've noticed with other places I've gone to get hydrafacials is that they are not that gentle with my face. They tend to be very aggressive when trying to remove my cystic acne, which sometimes makes it worse and stay irritated for longer than it would have if they had been more gentle. Nicole was incredibly gentle with my face - it seriously felt like she was handling fine china! She steamed my face and started preparing my skin, all while chatting with me about my problem spots, etc etc. In retrospect I feel bad that I was yakkin' her ear off, but she was a great listener lmao. Once my skin was ready, she started the hydrafacial process. Again, she was incredibly gentle as she went around my face, slowly exfoliating, cleansing, and hydrating my skin. She paid special attention to my problem area (read: my nose) and it felt awesome. After she was done with that, she misted my face, and wrapped up the session with a mask (and beauty globe!), and serums. She was also very sweet and did some LED on my face to help my current situation with my cystic acne. She used blue LED to help kill bacteria, but I think the next time I come back, I will go for red LED, which helps with the redness in your skin. (I have some healing areas from an electrocautery session I did earlier this month and I want to reduce the redness/pinkness.) Of course, throughout the entire session Nicole was giving a scalp massage, which eventually developed into a neck and shoulder massage. I almost fell asleep. LMAO. By the end of it, I was on cloud nine and getting dressed/leaving was a total haze. After one session my skin was already glowing - pretty crazy! I asked Nicole to show me the canister of gross, dead skin and clogged pores and it was pretty satisfying to see all the impurities in my face get taken out. Nice! It's been about a day and I can still see its amazing results. The electrocautery areas are definitely lighter than they were yesterday. I can't wait to see what they'll look like after a few more sessions. ;) Overall this was an amazing experience and I really enjoyed my hydrafacial with Nicole. I will definitely be coming back ASAP. If you are looking for someone to try your first hydrafacial with then Nicole is THE person to go to. Definite recommend! read more

I was struggling to find a good esthetician for almost 2 and half years after I moved to San dIego and it didn't help that i had acne all over my face. I tried different places, none of which helped, most of these places were so rough on my sensitive skin that going to these places and getting even a simple clean up facial made it worse. Simply, I could not imagine going anywhere else for facials or massages. So I don't. Nicole takes skin care to a whole other level beyond treatments; she educates you on what is going on with your skin and how you can be proactive about keeping it looking good when you leave her office. She doesn't push product but you will cave because her products works. The dermatitis that took me to her in the first place, has never returned. (Noni!) She is invested in each client and radiates a peaceful energy, which allows you to relax in her care. Amithy is equally as wonderful when it comes to massages. Sadly, I have not been able to see her for a few months, but there was a time when I was going to her on a fairly regular basis and I loved every session. As a runner, she helped work out knots in my legs and hips. Some sessions were more enjoyable than others, but the knots never outlasted her hands. As someone who also spends way too much time in front of the computer, she helped my neck and my back from aches. I have "elderly" skin and rosacea, so my treatments usually involve gentle exfoliation, extractions, mild peels and lots of hydration.... along with toning and tightening. She works with you to develop a realistic skin care plan using products you already have or makes recommendations from her skin care line ... no hard sell. During your treatment she puts lotion and warming booties on you feet, may give you a scalp massage and always massages your neck and shoulders. How could you not relax?
