It was pretty cold so pack a coat if you visit in the winter or fall. There's separate buildings with all the records and thousands of different lure types. They also have vintage poles, motors, photos, records and so much more. Our favorite part was seeing all the mounts on the wall. Record fish, interesting colored fresh water fish and even several types of fish from other countries mounted as well. Much bigger than we initially expected. Well worth the money and the lady working the front desk was really friendly.

So they were the backbone of the country 100 years ago. So were horses before that. We joked partially about salvaging a few of these old beasts and insulating them and making a crazy modern house. Not so crazy an idea, as their website has some for sale. As for the history side of things? Not my bag. But it is here, and if you are here and you like trains, make a day of it! Go for a ride! I only had a little time to explore and what I did see I really like. They have a great collection of fixer up trains and I saw some that I had not seen before. If you have time and enjoy trains this is a must stop. When through this way again I will plan to have time for more sights and hopefully a train ride!

The experience would have deserved a 5 star if it had not been for the woman at the front desk who said she was married to the nephew of the sculptor. She was terribly rude to us and continued to belittle us and shame us if we were not listening to her and looking her in the eye while she told us what we were about to see in the museum. After we toured the museum I came out to ask her a few more questions and again she shamed me by saying "You don't read, do you?" That tone continued and still she ranted about the rudeness that we exhibited when she was talking to us. She was the one that was rude. It is too bad that the museum does not have someone at the front desk that is more welcoming and kindhearted. The visitor is led around in a group which usually leave by the top of the hour. For myself, my knees became weak when we viewed the triple expansion compound engine. Great old stove and a lot of old cooking tools, old irons, etc. i particularly enjoyed the info on the railroad. They took the tracks out in 1979 to make a bike path. Its pretty much one room. The building was a former potato warehouse. The docent that day, Carol, was friendly and helpful when we asked some questions. Lots of old pictures, which I enjoy. Free but accepts donations.
