Scandia Gold and Games is an entertainment spot in Kelowna BC. Scandia offers indoor and outdoor mini golf, as well as arcade games. Such a fun place for something to do, especially late at night. It opens until 11 pm or midnight. This place is an icon in Kelowna area as it has been around since 1981. It has a bit of everything for the family or date night. It has arcade games, batting cages, go karting and mini golf (indoor and outdoor settings). It has been years since I last did any of these, so it was quite a treat when my friend suggested coming here. We had a blast playing mini golf. We chose the outdoor mini golf as it was a lovely day. Beautiful view and I love the buildings at the different holes. I was horribly bad at this but it was all good fun, laughing when I kept missing the hitting the ball. We didn't go for the go kart as the last time I went, I was too short for my foot to press the pedal comfortably. Otherwise there is a combo pass at about $30 which is a good deal for the golf, go kart and arcade tokens. I recommend coming here if you want something silly and fun to do, especially for date ideas. read more

Our son's 7th birthday was during our trip to Kelowna so we surprised him with a trip to Scandia. They had a special deal if you wanted to do one round of mini-golf, go kart and 18 tokens for just over $100. They also had a CAA discount of about 15% which was great. We started with Go-Kart. My son wasn't quite tall enough to drive on his own so he sat with me while my daughter and wife had their own karts. Track was fun with lots of twists and turns and straight a ways. You have to wear their helmet but they give you shower caps to put on first which was great. Get the caps at the mini-golf window. We then did a round of outdoor mini-golf. They also have an indoor one which we did not do. The 18 rounds were good - typical mini golf fare although more trick shots you need. My son even got a hole in one on one of the holes which he was pretty pumped about. Lastly, we went back inside and go our 18 tokens x 3. Most of the games were super old but they did have some more recent games like pacman and halo. There's a few games where you get tickets as well. The week before we had gone to Rec Room so these games at Scandia were not even at the same level. There weren't too many games that had one token only which was disappointing. That being said, my son had a great time and it was a great surprise. We got most of our tickets from basket ball. We played our usual games like air hockey, bowling, racing, and basketball. A nice family gave my son some of their tickets so he was about to get a ninja sword which was 2000 tickets and my daughter was able to get 2 die. We had about 300 leftover so my son gave it to a little girl which made her and her families day. It was nice for my son to pay if forward. It's strange for me to see bad reviews for Scandia. I first started coming here as a teenager back in the 90s when my grandparents moved to Kelowna for retirement. There really wasn't much to do, so every summer we'd pay a visit to Scandia and try our hand at miniature golf. Fast forward 25 years when I came this past summer after a long lull to find that aside from the vegetation that has matured a lot in 25 years, this golf course has stood the test of time and is still a very attractive place to play mini-golf! I still remembered the course and everything has been kept up over the years. It was the first time I took my kids mini-golfing and they had such a blast they have been begging to go ever since. The arcade is a lot louder than I remember it and we never played in it much, but we found the staff to be polite and it really is a good recreation center for families. Prices are still reasonable for a game of mini-golf. My nieces and nephews did the go-carts and I think they had batting cages or something. I didn't really go that direction since my kids are pretty young. So glad I came back to Scandia after all these years. So fun to relive the teen years with my own kids. read more

First time coming here (in 2017) and half of the arcade games were broken. There was no indication which ones they were, so you couldn't tell it was broken until you put your expensive tokens in with no way to get them back. And worst of all, some games need multiple tokens, so you would have no idea if the game is defective or if you just haven't inserted enough tokens yet. At the end, tickets are counted by weight. I guess that technically works, but seems far less practical than using a proper ticket counting machine. I mean, if their scale is about as reliable as the games, I'm not super confident that my tickets were fairly counted. Thanks to the arcade fiasco, I didn't have that many tickets to redeem in the first place. I managed to get a keychain, which made for a nice souvenir. The real nightmare is the go-kart track. We were unfortunate enough to share the track with a crazy psycho who seemed to enjoy ramming innocent participants instead of actually racing. I thought the first hit was an accident, but after multiple repetitions and they laughed at me when I confronted them, it was clear they were doing it on purpose. I desperately hoped the staff were observant and would remove them from the race as I had no way to protect myself. But they did nothing and I spent the rest of the race hoping I wouldn't get injured. read more

Had a lot of fun here the Tuesday after Labour Day. The season was pretty much done, but the weather hadn't quit so it seemed like the perfect time for a staycation. Shane G and I drove from Vernon to Kelowna with one thing in mind, MINI GOLF! Scandia has a lot to offer, Go-Karts, batting cages, arcade and 2 mini golf courses. The arcade was pretty awesome, I have to say. It was a healthy mix of retro "I remember that from when I was a kid" to brand new "how the hell do you use the controller?" games. The golf course was amazingly fun. They take good care maintaining it and it's actually really beautiful to spend the afternoon playing out there. There were only a few other people in the entire place so we took our time and had a lot of fun. I can see Scandia being jam packed with families in peak season, so I think we picked a good day to come. The prices are great, we were there for hours and only spent $15 each including golf and more games that I even wanted to play! I bought way, way too many tokens but now I have a mini back scratcher thanks to the tickets I traded in. I'm a champion. read more

I'm not entirely sure if I love Scandia as it is today, or if I love it more for the nostalgia each visit brings. Not much has changed here since my parents would bring my sister and I as children, and that's perfectly okay. The biggest highlight of Scandia is obviously the mini-golf. You have the choice between the classic outdoor course full of trick holes with opening and closing doors and the indoor jungle course. If weather permits, definitely go the outdoor route. It's a little run down but much more fun, especially when you bring kids. After mini golf, a visit to Scandia is never complete without blowing some loose change in the arcade. They have a great mix of kid-friendly games to more adult fare. Luckily the kid-oriented games are in their own room if you can't handle enthusiastic yelling, though I must admit that I too venture in there for a rousing game of "Big Bertha". In addition to golf and games, Scandia also offers go karts, batting cages, and terrifying animatronic robots for children's birthday parties. This place is good if you like to feel nostalgic. Tons, and I mean tons, of retro-esque video games such as The Simpsons, TMNT, and StreetFighter. They have a good selection of games and rides for little kids, older kids, and even adults. The Go-Karts are fun, the Batting Cages help with practicing that perfect swing, the Golf runs are a little bit dirty but still very cute, and after all that you can get a slice of pizza and watch the Rock-afire Explosion preform a skit. I visited Scandia Golf and Games on a Friday night as part of my Bachelorette weekend. There was a group of 7 of us in total. There was a deal - $21.95 for 1 gokart ride, 1 round of mini golf and 20 tokens for amusement games. This is excellent value and we thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this deal. However.... This place is a little run down. The gokart helmets have seen better days, and they are provided by the staff so two of our party were given very large helmets (and we are are women with smaller heads). The mini golf had lots of lights out which made some of the holes hard to see, and the bridges were pitch black. There were also lots of games out of order/not accepting tokens and many looking very fun down. On the whole we can't complain too much as we really did enjoy our night here - and for the price, I'm sure we would return. read more

This place is so much fun. My friends spent about an hour and a half here, and could have spent more! It's pretty well priced, most arcades these days rip you off like crazy. I purchased 5$ worth of coins and got quite a few games out of it. Each token is 25 cents, games range from 1 token to 4 tokens per play. Skeeball is one token, dance dance revolution 4, most of the shooting games are 3 to 4 tokens per play. My favourite was the ninja turtles arcade game. It gave zero tickets but only cost 1 token. The space invaders game is highly recommended. One of the machines ate my tokens, but the guy behind the desk came and fixed it for me. He was a bit grumpy about the entire thing, but if I had to work around children I might be as well. We went on a Sunday night before a holiday Monday and it was pretty quiet. We will make this a frequent stop when visiting friends in the area! read more

A last minute weeknight trip to Scandia yielded much FUN (in all caps) for the adults as well as the energy ball of a four year old we had with us! Though a good handful of the kids games were out of order, for the most part, there was a wide selection of entertainment for all ages. I partook in skee ball, billiards and batting cages, to name a few, and skipped the pinball/video games (there is meca near my home in Houston for such activities). The fourth star is missing because I experienced no staff interaction (none was needed) and the # of games that were out was a bit high in my opinion. I also didn't visit the washrooms and the golf course and go karts were closed way early (didn't see a sign that said they close early). There was also a lack of music unless the customers pump more $$ into the juke box that had a rather old/unexciting selection. Comparable to the Chuck E Cheeses of the states but a bit better as we don't have go carts, batting cages or golf! read more

Prices aren't advertised, but they're reasonably priced for an activity center. My boyfriend and I purchased a combo deal that cost about $20 for mini golf (regular price $10.50), a round of go-karts and 20 tokens (25c each). Overall, you can tell the place is aging, but it's a decent facility. I was not able to try the outdoor mini golf course, but it had cool decor. I tried the indoor jungle mini golf - the 18-hole course was pretty standard. The decor was average (kids would definitely love it though) as some of the things were falling apart (not noticeable unless you're looking for it). The starting position for the golf balls are indented, so I advise not using them unless you want the ball to roll back. My experience with the go-karts were bad. The course itself was fun, but they don't provide hairnets for helmets and the karts were low quality. They were bumpy, something you could definitely tell if you were trying to go full speed. One of the ladies left the course (either got kicked off or wanted to leave) and all the go karts stopped working. We weren't told why, and it definitely cut into our playtime. Also, I'm a petite person and even though I strapped myself in the kart, I couldn't go fast as I felt myself bumping around in the seat. I never had that problem with the karts in Calgary. Even if you're not petite, the bumping from the go-karts was extremely uncomfortable. Lastly, the arcades. Lots of games to select from, and the ones that were completely busted were some of the fighting games, and all of the pinball machines. The ones that were working were a hit-or-miss; generally they all worked. The other reviews may be outdated, as I was expecting most of the machines to be busted. Sometimes when you put tokens in, it got stuck in the slot. If you tap the area, your coin will fall in...but beware that this does happen (although every arcade tends to have these types of problems). The retro game selection was great, most cost about 1-2 tokens. When my boyfriend played these games, they did only cost 25c...but hey, inflation. Didn't get a chance to play all the different games, but I'd be interested in going back to play. I can't say too much about the ticket games, as I'm not really interested in those when I go to an arcade. We did take a look around and the selection wasn't that great (compared to semi-interesting ones at Cineplex theaters for example). Overall: - Prices for activities are average (based off Calgary prices) - Indoor mini-golf wasn't super exciting - Go-kart course was decent, but the karts itself weren't - Arcade has a lot of selection, worked for the most part, and weren't outrageously priced Would go again if I had the chance (but probably just for the arcade). read more

Alright so I'll say this, me and my girlfriend went mini golfing 2 times this weekend and had two completely different experiences. Why you might ask it's all because of this powering tripped fire breathing devil woman let's call her "Helga" Now I'll start off by saying I'm not anti mask nor anti vacs. We had walked into this establishment and I looked around and seen 2-4 people not wearing masks so I decided i wasn't going to throw mine on and figured it was just a quick walk through to get to the back where the mini golf was. Well let me tell you that was a huge mistake, now after getting to the back I turned and who do I see in my peripherals "Helga" and she's steaming. She starts demanding my mask and let me say this I'm 93% sure I seen steam coming out of her ears but that's here nor there. Now I go to reach in my pockets and to my surprise I actually had left my mask in my car. Now soon as I noticed this and told "Helga" about my mask less adventure the smoke, the fire and the steam joined as one and she ROARED her mighty roar for all the land to hear. She did not like this one bit and her only reply to me the mighty steed was that is walk my mask less self back through the mighty land I had just traveled and that's when I had enough. I simply replied now you just roared your terrible roar and pretty much breathed fire because walked that valley maskless, now you're telling me to embark on that adventure again ? I was appalled and quite confused as to what kind of point she/her was trying to prove. She actually made my girlfriend walk out through this treacherous trail "alone" to grab my mask so I could fucken carry it in my back pocket during our round of golf due to the fact that it's OUTSIDE. OKAY So now In saying all of this and looking back at both of mine and "Helgas" actions I can firmly say she's kind of a power tripping bully and had she gone about asking me to put on or get a mask on differently things would of been handled way more mannerly like. All I'll say is this "Helga" you work at fucken scandi and you're not the assistant to the the assistant manager of scandi, your job is to take my money and hand me a damn putter and clean balls. read more

Can't complain at all! Mini golf was great - the little guy loved the buildings and bridges and general decor. My husband took the little guy on the go-kart, which was a HUGE hit. He would have gone again if we'd had time. We ended the afternoon in the arcade to cool off (it was a sweltering day in the Okanagan!) and play some kid friendly games. A good number of them were out of order, but we (he) had fun. We went on a Tuesday in mid-summer, which was perfect. We could play what we wanted, when we wanted, and again - compared to outside it was totally comfortable in there! All the staff was super helpful and informative. The one reason I came, was to see The Rock-afire Explosion. This is the only known public Rock-afire in Canada. The condition is pretty good. The problem is, you have to ask them to play shows for you. They have some good games and very good mini golf. I am very excited to come back! read more

Worst customer service I have ever seen. My daughter left in tears because she won over 2000 tickets in the game room and the guy at the counter said it was 200 and immediately threw them away. I asked to speak to the manager. He came over and said his machine is always correct and I'm wrong. I was with my daughter when she was getting her tickets and know she had several thousand. He was so rude. I spent over 300 there in the past week because we are here for holiday. Please try to find a better place to go where they appreciate their customers. read more

The worst Customer Service of any business in Kelowna. My daughter lost her Pass, and even though we had a receipt the elderly manager said we would have to buy a new Pass. I asked if he was not concerned with Customer Service. He replied, "Welcome to Kelowna." When I first began to go to scandia a few years back it was pretty awesome, now not so much. Lets start with the positives... Its got really good prices, and offer excellent pricing for birthday parties ect. the mini golf is pretty good there, the courses are fun and again its super affordable. The pizza is really good as well. and the prices of food are great. They have alot of games and selection, even some old favorites from when I was a kid. there is always parking and its kept really clean. now the negatives... Alot of the games are out of order and stay that way for months, the roller coaster ride has been out of service for like a year now, and its the first thing you see when you walk in the door, so the "Out of order sign" is an eye sore and not very promising. (II have only been able to enjoy it once in all these years because it has been out of order before as well, which is pretty disappointing as its a really cool experience) and on the left hand side when you first walk in is the "shooting gallery" which too is out of order and has been for about a year. Alot of the other games eat up your tokens and dont give them back, you have to get one of the employees to open the game and get your tokens unstuck and given back. The employees always look miserable. They are all young adults or teens who look annoyed they have to work. I never see them smile, and are always irritated that they have to help customers. its really unwelcoming and makes for a shitty atmosphere. The singing animal band they have there is NEVER on, there is an entire sitting room and they never turn on the animal show thing ( I dont know what you would call it) The sitting area remains empty the whole time because its this quiet depressing atmosphere. They need to have that area more entertaining, my guess is they get annoyed hearing the animals sing, however if thats the case then they should probably go work else where since people are paying for a fun time and scandia is supposed to be about kids. They will turn it on if you request it, but of course they look annoyed you asked and only play one or two songs then its off and off for good. I used to love this place, and would have given it 5 stars, but its gone downhill in the last year or so, and its really too bad because it is the only thing like it in this whole area and could do really well, but it just doesn't seem like they give a shit anymore. read more

I've seen a lot of bad reviews about this place which disappoints me. Every experience i've had at Scandia has been awesome. What people don't realize is that the prices are actually very affordable, compared to other amusement parks/arcades ex, Shakers. Huge variety of games and both the indoor and outdoor mini golf is well maintained and beautiful. I've been to multiple mini golf courses and this is by far one of the best for the price. Obviously a machine might eat your coins but that's a risk most people don't understand with the older games. I've seen this happen to multiple people following up with the staff in locking the machine to retrieve coins for the customers. Awesome place, super fun for a group of friends for a night out, cheaper then a night out at the movies and more fun. read more

My son got whiplash from go karting because the staff didn't enforce the no bumping into others policy and a malicious teenager caused an accident right in front of us. The helmets were not cleaned between uses. The first arcade game we tried ate our tokens and only let one of us play. The lineups for tickets were unorganized and over 20 minutes long. We were enjoying an afternoon of fun yesterday March 16 with our 2 small children, 7 and 4, and waiting near the token machine when an older gentleman behind the counter began to loudly berate a young male employee in front of ourselves and other patrons. It was bad enough having to listen to this at a family type amusement centre, but when this gentleman decided to throw in some profanities, I was SHOCKED! There are children of all ages well within ear shot, and it sounded like we were in a bar. We left almost immediately after, pledging never to return. We did however inquire as to who this gentleman was. It turns out he's one of the managers there, and his name is Darren. This Darren character acted in a very inappropriate, unprofessional and immature manner. He should not be a supervisor of young people, or anyone. VERY, VERY disappointed!!! read more

No. Was that the only place where she ate anything different from the rest of us? Yes. Go there to play and bring your own snacks. Just down the road there is a Triple Os. I don't know where to begin, I have never experienced this bad of customer service before in my life. I have worked in the customer service industry for 5 years and know not anyone should be treated this way. We specifically called and asked if we would be able to go cart, they said it was open till 10:00, we showed up at 9:00 wnd was shut down. That wasn't even the problem. The front desk lady was very rude, she talked to us as if we were stupid snd didn't understand What she was saying, even though she was probably the one who answered the phone in the first place. We asked to speak to a manger because she couldn't be bothered, this man, whom is beilived to be named Daren, he's mostly bald ans was wearing a tropical shirt, leaned out over the counter (idk how covid friendly that is) wnd said " I don't know how to explain this to you guys politely but if we sell you a ticket there might be not enough time to get on the track" funny being it was an hour till the track would close and the line was small. We asked questions like how long a ride is and how many people go at a time to do the math if we could get on, we also asked if we would be refunded if we didn't make it on. He neglected all these questions and acted as if he didn't hear us and continued to repeat himself. He was rude, and disrespectful, creepy, and not polite. If I had some recommendations for scandia it would be first to hire a new manager that is actually good at his job, can answer questions about his workplace, and learn to talk to customers. No matter what the customer is always right, and he clearly has never been told that. Second recommendation would be to probably train the staff, over the phone and in person the staff acted very bitchy, for us to drive all the way there after talking on the phone that there was plenty time to go and then get turned away. Took the grandkids here on a rainy day. Played mini golf indoors. One hole wasn't marked and just looked like a 8 foot square with a hole in the middle so we thought it was a putting practice. Towards the end we noticed we missed a hole so thought it must have been that one. We headed back to it and an elderly worker got all bent out of shape. I showed him my card that we missed one and he would not let us go back to it. It was the grandkids first time and they were all excited, saying look at this, there's gold in the water. So they loved it. We saw how dilapidated and old it was, carpet lifting at seams etc. We tried some games (skee ball) and they were also broken, some lights not working, some scores not showing, not giving proper amount of balls etc. But all in all a good place to take kids on a rainy day. I like it here though! They have go-karting and golf and it's an over all cool place. I used to go here as a kid. The staff are decent, but over all, the place is very enjoyable. My favourite part of Scandia will be the downstairs golf, it's dark down there and has a jungle theme, really awesome. read more

Besides the old singing stage monkeys. Those dudes used to scare the crap outta me. Haha! And now as an adult I go to Scandia and the magic is still strong! With a beautiful setting, HUGE selection of games to get prize money from, tons of games for older kids and adults!
