This cost us a day on our trip to Australia and is so not worth it. There is no reason for a tourist to come here--there are so many other better things to see in Sydney and it's surrounding areas. I wish I had this time back again. Only come here if you live in Australia and have done everything else the country has to offer first. And then--think about if you really want to come here? It was super crowded, wall to wall to wall people being herded around like cattle, hot and sweaty, 2-3 hour standing waits for each ride that lasts about 5 minutes, overpriced awful food in the concessions. Crying babies and yelling children all over. The waits for the rides so lengthy and arduous that we only had time for 2 of 3 rides and then a couple got stuck waiting to come back on one ride and delayed our departure for 45 minutes. There is nothing nature about this place. Our tour director dictated a note to himself on the bus back, "Skip this excursion on the next trip." It's a major tourist trap you should not find yourself in. A day at the hotel pool or waking around Sydney would be much more enjoyable.

The best way to experience the Blue Mountains! If you're visiting Sydney and don't have a car, it's really simple to still get to Scenic World. My hubby and I took an early train from Sydney Central Station to Katoomba (roughly 2 hours). Walked a few blocks from the train station to a great coffee shop & bakery (Black Cockatoo Bakery), then walked about 20 minutes to Scenic World. It was even raining on the morning we went, but really just enjoyed the adventure and scenery! Although the rain and fog never cleared up that day, and we couldn't even see the Three Sisters, everyone working at Scenic World was in good spirits and ensured that we still had a great time! We loved the Scenic Walkway, one of the longest elevated rainforest boardwalks with breathtaking views, and the songs of birds giving you nature's soundtrack along the way! The Scenic Railway was almost like a roller coaster ride, though much slower, and we waited an extra few minutes to be able to sit in the front row. Definitely worth it if you want a clear view of the steep descent into the rainforest! Both the Scenic Skyway and Cableway were fun too, but because of the dense fog/clouds and rain, we couldn't see the BLUE Mountains, only the gray void which was eerie yet mysteriously beautiful, but a bit disappointing. I had been to the Blue Mountains before, but it was my husband's 1st time, so I was more bummed out for him. Another tip: book your tickets ahead online so you can also choose what timeframe you can arrive (i.e. we wanted to get in as soon as they opened). Be prepared for crowds, but also don't forget to soak in the stunning views and learn about the rich history of the Blue Mountains!

Great way to check out parts of the Blue Mountains. Scenic World allows you to self-guide yourself in an area of the Blue Mountains, Three Sisters, and nearby falls. There are great east to read map boards and trail markers in the park. Most of the park sits opposite the Three Sisters. In 1878 coal was mined from the bluffs Scenic World now sits on. The Scenic Railway is the world's steepest passenger train, originally it was built to haul coal up from a mine. I took it down to the valley floor. Fast and steep!! It was almost like a drop on a roller coaster. Later in the day I took the the Scenic Skyway across the valley to check out the Katoomba Falls. This is the only horizontal cable car in Australia. It crosses the Jamison Valley 885 feet up. The coolest part is the glass floor that allows you to look down on the valley as you cross. The last ride was on Scenic Cableway. It's the steepest cable car in the Southern Hemisphere. And was a great way to see Orphan Rock, Mount Solitary and the surrounding cliffs. The Terrace Café & Bar is located in the park. I chose to eat in town. Scenic World is open every day of the year. 9am-5pm on weekends and 10am-4pm on weekdays. For current ticket prices check out their website www.scenicworld.com.au

Simply spectacular! This was an amazing experience with amazing staff that was super helpful throughout the day. There were many activities around the park. This includes three fantastic rides. One down to the bottom of the park with steepest decline in the world, one back to the top and one in the cable cart across the valley (cart with transparent floor!). Beautiful views of three sisters, lush rain forest, and exciting walks around the park. You can spot some wild life if you get lucky. Don't forget to check their souvenirs shop that offers many good quality items. Highly recommended!!

What a beautiful vantage point to see this amazing land. The three sisters rock formation and the falls are just the beginning. Being able to go down deep in the bush and walk around on the boardwalks. Breathtaking nature. The pass gives you access to all 3 cars to travel up, down and across the mountains. Cafe for a snack or a dinning area for something more substantial.

Blue Mountain is a fun place for the whole family. You can explore different trails to get unique views of the Three Sisters and the beautiful mountain view. Other trails can be more challenging but they allow you to see the waterfall and other scenic points up close. The admission includes unlimited rides for three different trams. However, most of the trails are not very handicapped friendly.

We walked through an endless gift shop & cafe to purchase out wristbands. We went into a tram & went down into the blue forest. We walked along a boardwalk smelling the eucalyptus. We saw coal mining displays & equipment. We got on the vehicular Back up to the gift shop. There was a large dinosaur park & displays for children. There was a large gift shop and cafe with outdoor seating. We enjoyed :90 here.

Scenic World is an absolutely fun and beautiful place to visit if you find yourself in Australia. I'm unsure how I found the Blue Mountains but I'm glad I did. Scenic World put me out of my comfort zone with their thrilling transportation "rides." We happened to visit when Australia was going through a heat wave. I can tell you this much, do NOT visit Blue Mountains if it's 110 degrees (unless you're used to that, of course). There is a ton of walking and climbing if you want to get good photographs (but it's not necessary because there's beauty all around). Blue Mountains are absolutely stunning and it makes for a great addition to your trip!

Scenic world is arguably the best way to see the blue mountains via four different rides, all of which aim to give panoramic view of the various rock formations, waterfalls, and the Jamison valley. Admission is reasonably priced for the day and includes a skyway over the canopy, a cable car, steep railway (originally used to shuttle coal), and extensive rainforest walking path. The guides are helpful and friendly. There are no restrooms in the valley so be sure to take care of business before hand.

Came to Scenic World as part of our Andersons Tour. Unfortunately for us, the weather was rainy and foggy, so we really didn't see much of anything. I'm sure on a clear day this place would be breathtaking. Even though it was foggy we were still hopeful and went on the walkway, cableway and the railway. Honestly didn't see much. My personal highlight of this visit was definitely the railway! It was surprisingly steep.

The ride bits are sort of touristy but fun. The weather was poor so the Skyway was a bit of a bust...until we were right over the trees and suddenly treetops were looming under the transparent floor. Same with the cableway, you couldn't see things until you were right on them which made for a bit of a fun house ride. We rode the railway backwards and yep I thought I was going to fall to the bottom of the cars...so very steep. BUT what made this trip for me was the walkways through the forest, the Jurassic rainforest that is. Some of the trees in this valley date back to that time period. The rain and fog meant that not many people were walking around and it made everything quiet and peaceful. The coal mining history is interesting and the statues/mannequins in the caves are a bit creepy...in a good way. I wasn't sure that I would enjoy this portion of the tour but I did.

This was another great experience and memory. We got the opportunity to see the Three Sisters rock formation from Echo Point Lookout at Katoomba. We also boarded the world's steepest passenger railway and descend into an ancient rainforest. Where I got to hang from vines at 25 weeks pregnant. Lol! Last, we hopped aboard a glass-floored cable car suspended above the steep gorge to get a panoramic view of the mountains. We visited Scenic World Blue Mountains while on the Blue Mountain Day Tour (Glenbrook). I would say this was an amazing experience. You get to see the Three Sisters rock formation as well as its cool surroundings. Riding the cable car and the railway were also pretty freaking awesome! I would encourage you to visit this location on a day tour because you are able to view a few other locations all in one. I felt this was the best way to view the Blue Mountains for the best bang for my buck. Even if you do not do a tour I would encourage you to come.

I never expect that I would have the courage to get on the steepest passenger railway in the world, but the Scenic Railway did not disappoint. it was a truly unforgettable experience getting into glass carriages and hurtling in full speed downhill through tree-lined rainforest with views of the spectacular Jamison Valley. Even more thrilling than hurtling downwards is when the same carriage is pulled backwards, so I was literally going in reverse with the mountain view rising in front of me...it was like a movie with the best views and one that I would never want to stop watching. The Scenic Skyway just blew me away with the glass floor section in the middle through which I could see the mountain rainforest passing underneath me with breathtaking views of Katoomba Falls, the Three Sisters, and Jamison Valley in all directions. The ride was thoroughly thrilling. On the other side of the station (across to another mountain, wow!) if you choose you can head to the valley along with bush trails to Echo Point, however we took a second round to go back to the first station to get to the other rides.

Named from an Aboriginal legend. About 200 million years ago, volcanoes erupted through layers of sandstone and shale. Then eroded over time by wind, rain and rivers, causing the cliffs surrounding the Jamison Valley to be slowly broken up. Aboriginal legend says the three sisters - Meehni, Wimlah and Gunnedoo belong to a Nepean tribe in the Jamison valley. All three sisters were in love with three brothers, but they couldn't marry because the tribes were rivals. (Romeo and Juliette times three). Ignoring the tribal laws, the brothers decided to kidnap Meehni, Wimlah and Gunnedoo. Creating a major tribal battle. To protect the three sisters, the tribe took them to a witch doctor who would temporarily turn them into stone and hide them near the rocky wall until the war was over. Unfortunately, the witch doctor was killed before the spell was reversed. Leaving the three sisters in stone forever. Echo Point gives the greatest view of The Sisters. The extension view from here is breathtaking, as you can see for miles across the valley tree tops. From this point is the spot that Queen Elizabeth II first saw The Sisters. Incredibly stunning.

Not to mention he's super knowledgeable and is funny without being cheesy. He told us the ins and outs of each stop giving us advice and recommendations. You'll be given a map with each stop clearly labeled with photos and descriptions. Don't lose this as it also has the timetable for bus pick ups. Generally there will be a bus pick-up every half hour. Also they're always on time if not a bit early! If they're early they'll wait for the appropriate time to continue. Tip: If you do 15-16 and do the hike to Honeymoon Bridge and Three Sisters DO NOT walk all the way down the Grand Stairs (900 steps). We walked all the way down and ended up having to walk all the way back up... I suppose we got our exercise in for the day. Once you see the platform you walk back to Echo Point.
