We contacted them twice afterward to request they come back out, and were told, in essence, that we just needed to deal with it. For the price we paid, we expected professionalism, quality service, and accountability. Instead, we received none of the above. We were so close to letting Preferred Home Improvements from Donahue, IA clean our vents, but when they got started they were unprepared and walked into our house with a little shop vac. Then they noticed they forgot another piece of equipment and said they'd come back tomorrow and never heard back, thank god! Breathe Easy cost us less too, and they used professional equipment. Breathe easy is not messing around they will show up to your house on time to get the job done right, efficiently, and professionally. Upon arrival, the technician (Matt Mitchell) informed my mom that their couch (a standard size L shaped sectional) was actually considered two separate couches and refused to proceed unless she paid for two services, significantly increasing the cost beyond what was anticipated. We also learned that despite the word "clean" being included in the service name, the service did not include light vacuuming, wiping down, or otherwise cleaning the couch. Now this was not a filthy couch but had we known they would not vacuum or clean around/under cushions we would have done the light cleaning prep beforehand, instead we now have a currently damp couch that made all the loose debris wet/clumped more settled into the couch and much harder to lift. The service ended up costing more than $300. Unfortunately, the interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational, kind of hostile with the attitude and cornered sales push and my parents were left with a couch they still had to clean. Had I known what was going to happen I would have saved our money and given our business to another company. I don't typically write reviews but since the reviews are what prompted me to book the service in the first place and hoping this may help others in the area. Maybe we just had a bad rep, but from what we experienced I would not recommend or rehire.

(Updated) We had some sewage water back up in our basement that flooded the floor of our basement…read morebathroom. We needed to pull up the basement tile, pull the toilet and sink, and sterilize the area that had been contaminated. Servpro gave us what we considered to be a reasonable itemized estimate of $750 to do the entire job, so we had them do it. As near as I can tell, they did a decent job of pulling apart our bathroom and sterilizing the area. There were 3 things that left me dissatisfied. First, we thought the estimated fee, $750, covered the whole project including putting the bathroom (toilet, sink and vanity) back together. But Servpro considers that a separate project. So we were shocked when we got another itemized estimate from them to put the bathroom back together for $3600! We thought that was outrageous so, we found another company to put the bathroom back together for under $400 - far less than the price Servpro quoted us. The 2nd issue was that the bill was $850, more than $100 above what they quoted me. I spoke to a nice woman in their billing department and said I had some questions about the itemized bill. There were some items on the bill that I didn't think belonged there. This brings us to the 3rd issue. The woman at Servpro told me that the person in charge of our project would call me back the next day and we could discuss the questions I had about the bill. Nobody called me the next day, or even the next week. Eventually I saw the futility of the situation and just paid the bill - which I'm sure is what they were hoping I'd do. I felt it was, to say the least, a questionable business practice to tell us the fee for the job was $750 but that was literally for only half the job. And then they tell us the rest of the job is $3600. And when I wanted to discuss the bill with them, I never heard back. If this experience is any guide, I cannot recommend Servpro.
