Most outstanding contractor and team I have ever worked with. ***** Wanted to purchase a whole house generator. James promptly visited and the company followed up with a quote. I had questions and was able to speak with Brian. He clarified some things regarding the generator and we also talked about "what ifs???" He was kind and patient and took his time with me. Five stars for just that. ***** I went with Blackhawk Electric & Generators because they helped me understand what I was purchasing and the service I will be provided. I went with a 18kw generator and they supplied the EMP shields that I additionally wanted installed. I didn't have any doubts that I made the right decision with product and company. Installation day was flawless. They arrived on time and went to work. These guys know what they are doing and know how to effectively communicate with each other and the homeowner. My old hot tub was tripping the breaker. Tech was out next day on time. Sent me a txt to confirm arrival time. Tech was thorough and was able to identify a couple issues with internal wiring from mouse damage. Exactly the service I was hoping for at the price I expected. Called Blackhawk Electric regarding an issue with my ceiling fan. Immediately was connected with the owner to schedule the appointment and he was upfront and transparent with pricing and recommendations. They were able to schedule me quickly and the electrician arrived on time. Additionally the electrician was able to install a new ceiling fan and get everything in working order very promptly. The electrician also removed all items including the old fan and waste from the new fan. This company is truly amazing and I'm happy to have found them. I strongly recommend you use them for your electrical needs as you will not be disappointed. read more

The advertisement states a FREE estimate but when they came to my property they charged a service fee of $320. The service call included looking at a breaker box and he did not repair anything. He reduced the price to $275 cash. Brian was rude and yelled at me and my Mom called us "You people". read more

Workers arrived promptly and repaired 4 electrical problems in my home very efficiently. In about 45 minutes everything was fixed and they even cleaned up a tiny mess created from drywall dust. The lesson learned was that hiring a professional actually saves you money. read more

I would not recommend Blackhawk Electric to friends/family simply based on the level of customer service I received. I called the office to follow up on our proposal and the receptionist was extremely rude. She made it apparent quickly that my call was not a priority and an inconvenience to her. My request, a simple follow up phone call by the estimator, was never completed. I followed up multiple times via email, but never received a response. After a handful of voicemails and emails, I gave up and booked the work with someone else. read more

My husband calls today September 22nd as they did not have the courtesy to give us an update and wait for it...now they tell us the parts are in Canada after my husband was going to drive and pickup the parts in Chicago. I understand shipping but I booked in advance as I wanted my husband home and I took an extra day off from work and still no date of when the installation will take place and no apologies. I had been a customer of Electric Doctor for several years. That all came to a screeching halt a…read morefew weeks ago. I called to obtain service on my generator, which wouldn't start. The sub-contracted 'technician' (and I use that term loosely) came out and replaced the battery...in the rain. All of the panels/switches became wet and again, the generator wouldn't turn over or set the exercise time. He was unable to get the generator to start again but spent almost an entire hour hitting the starter button and draining the new battery he had just installed. He eventually threw up his hands and said that "I can't figure it out". He told me that I would be contacted by a technician...we'll call him Jeff, within the week. The week passed and no call. I called the receptionist/Praetorian, who told me Jeff had been in Wisconsin but would call me the following week. The week went by and no call. I contacted the receptionist/Praetorian again, the following week. This time she scolded me for "circumventing the system". To this day I still don't even know what that means. I wasn't happy and let her know I wasn't happy. She then hung up the phone. Haven't heard a peep since. Most of you may think this is a terrible example of customer service and you'd be correct. However, there is a silver lining to this story. Instead of nickel and diming' myself into oblivion with their shoddy service, I obtained an entirely new unit that was not purchased, installed or serviced by The Electric Doctor. I have the ultimate satisfaction of never seeing them set foot on my property again. Sure, I squandered 300+ dollars on an inept technician but look at all of the money I'm saving you. You can choose to use this establishment if you wish but there are plenty of options here in Davenport. You'd be silly not to use these options. If you ignore my advice and use ED...you're just setting yourself up for failure.

I had a PTAC unit installed to replace the old one that was no longer working properly. The…read moreprevious day Schaal sent their estimator to assess if the old unit was repairable. He determined that it would be expensive to fix the air conditioner function of the unit. I asked him what a new unit would cost. I wish that I would have decided to have the unit repaired instead. I paid $2900 for a PTAC unit that retailed under $1000. So I paid $1800 just to have the old unit taken out and the new one installed into the existing cutout and existing sleeve and grill. Then all they had to do was plug in the new unit into the existing outlet, test and calibrate the unit, and then they were done! I could have purchased the PTAC myself, swapped it with the same model,and saved myself $1800! The technicians that came were polite, courteous and very efficient. I realize that the price was all inclusive. But that is the price that would involve cutting a hole through the wall, installing a sleeve and panel, and putting in an electric plug to power the unit. Unfortunately, I didn't question the price since they don't provide itemized estimates. So I'm just going to have to suck it up. I do have to say that I feel that I was "taken to the cleaner"....

Called for estimate for whole house generator- Company arrived right on time for estimate- received quote within 24hrs- Best price quote we received and most timely. Set up installation,arrived on time and completed the job efficiently even with some set backs by a small town inspector slowing things down to my dismay. They handled everything with a smile.
