It was wonderful to be able to call Big Trees and set a time to see their trees. Daniel took us around and also helped us as we considered several types of trees. We determined that a Somerset Red Maple would be large enough and that it would be relatively easy on yard maintenance. The tour helped us decide that we really needed a tall (30' feet) to enjoy in the next few years. Big Trees was excellent at setting up a date and delivering the tree. It was amazing just to watch the equipment as they dug the hole and planted the tree (see pictures). Now we just need to follow their directions. Felix and the staff planting the tree were easy to work with. They helpled take down and reinstall part of our fence and they cleaned upt he site very well.

I always loved seeing their flowers as I drove by. I never did stop by, and now I live in Hillsboro. It's not that far of a drive, but I don't drive by very often anymore. Well, I saw a water color painting class event on Facebook being held at Blooming Junction. My sister and I have been really getting into doing water color painting. I signed us both up. I was excited not only for the class, I was really interested in checking out what Blooming Junction had to offer! I'm so glad this opportunity presented itself. Such a lovely nursery, all the plants looked so healthy and well cared for. It's much more than a nursery though. There was a market to buy fresh produce and other sundry items. I was delighted to find Bubbies brand pickles. I find this brand at other stores, but the dill relish has been illusive. I was just thinking to myself this morning while making chickpea salad how I wished I had Bubbies Dill relish..and lo and behold I find it here! So happy! My sister and I strolled around before our class started. Bought a drink in the market to sip on throughout the class. There was a water cooler also in the workshop area. We had fun getting in touch with our creative side! After class ended, we strolled around some more. I ended up getting the Bubbies relish and strawberries. They were so sweet! Coming from someone on the inside (that works for Iwazaki) this is what I've seen…read more I see a company that employs anyone regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality. We are treated with respect and thanked in meaningful ways (not just financial) for our hard work. And, we work hard. I see women (half of our company) keeping pace with boys twice their size, doing work I've watched guys quit after 3 hours. I see people working hard every day checking, and rechecking, to make sure we are sending out the best product, in the quickest time. It's not easy, by any means, but we somehow manage to make it all work every single day. Then there's Jim, the owner. The guy who works right along side us doing jobs none of us would want to do. I've seen him (with my own eyes) sweeping isles, picking up trash, filling orders, and walking along out front picking up cigarette butts and loose rubbish. He doesn't ever try to turn it into some corny life-lesson. He just does it. I feel a sense of pride working for this company. I like my co-workers (a lot) and my direct supervisor is, quite literally, the best boss I've ever had. As someone on the inside: We work hard shipping a good product. And, it may not be something long-term, but, I will always be proud that I worked alongside these people.

They have a variety of lovely garden plants, seeds, and local artisan treasures. They make their own hot sauces too; they offered samples of several and I was impressed by the variety of flavors. I saw jams and pickled goodies, local wines, candles, jewelry, wheat and rye flour, and even a shelf with books written by a local author. They mentioned that they plan to have fresh tomatoes and peppers a little later in the summer. They tasked me, with deadlines, for 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 2 months straight. During this time they told me they would pay me "soon, when they could afford it." They then initiated & completed tens of thousands of dollars' worth of new construction, and cheated the main construction laborer. When I asked about my pay, they had their drunken goons, Taran & Wade, menace me with imminent physical violence one night. I called the police to prevent it, and management retaliated by telling me I was a "volunteer" and a "guest," and would have to leave immediately. I asked them about the money they owed me, and they said they owed me nothing (for over a thousand hours of documented work). Then they smeared me to whomever would listen. Horrible people. Horrible. Flowers are pretty anywhere.
