I had ordered the rissoto and a side salad and both were excellent, very filling and the salad portion was huge and could have been a meal itself. The others ordered some typical Swabian dinners which consisted of steak and a cheesy Mac with salads. I sampled the other dish and they were delicious as well. Most of all you're eating in a 100 year old castle, no it's not a very old castle but still has that majestic rustic feel. All in all a good dining experience.

From walking across the bridge, the Swiss Alps in the (stunning) background, sculptures, wisteria, blooming tulips this garden had everything! I almost couldn't take it when I realized the cushions (on wooden pallets) matched the surrounding orchids in the conservatory. This is the photo of Pinterest dreams. Honestly, the gardens just kept getting better and better. Anyways, I stayed here for about 3 hours, took tons of photos, and was able to see the entire island. You'll need to buy a €5 parking token when you buy tickets. Keep the token and when you leave the parking lot there will be a token box. The signage has a bad translation which wasn't helpful Don't take the trolley-takes 5 pleasant minutes to walk across the bridge (walk on the right side only) Tickets are 1/2 off after 5pm (which is also when the crowds leave) Café is near the ticket office and has plenty of drink choices (€2.75 for coke light in glass bottle) Restrooms through the area-3 on the island and one by the café. On top of a hill, at the end of some back road, you arrive at Hotel Villino. With gardens surrounding it, and a vegetable garden to the side, and the Austrian mountain's as a backdrop, it could not be more beautiful. I felt like I was at more of a spa retreat, than a swanky hotel. It was so calming and beautiful (even if it was pouring down rain outside). The staff is beyond attentive and incredibly helpful. While I was there on business, it's certainly somewhere I'd love to return to on vacation.

I went with my aunt and uncle and was introduced to several of the vendors there as they were acquaintances already from previous years. The grounds and outbuilding are very well kept in the front area. the rear area appears to be under repairs. The courtyard ground was of old cobblestones in good condition and there was plenty of space for dozens of vendors of housewares, collectables, clothes and tools. One vendor was selling Schnapps and juices. Only one stall offered coffee and cakes and they were always busy.

As I'm cruising at break neck speed (because there's no speed limit), I saw the familiar M, I decided to make a stop, get a coffee and be on my way. Kiosk ordering, free wifi, ample comfortable seating, a full on McDonalds menu with a few European options we don't get in the states - Plus an amazing cafe complete with high end espresso maker, multi colored donuts, cakes and pastries and coffee served in proper glass! What was planned to be a quick pit stop, ended up being an hour adventure meeting new people, enjoying an amazing cappuccino macchiato AND being served a champagne with a strawberry as I sat and ate my fries. My lab was allowed inside ( no biggie in Europe) and had a chance to meet "Roland" the clown who was entertaining kids and adults with magic tricks. Outside there's even more fun- a photo booth, jumpie castle and playground all planned around modern outdoor seating. Clean and well appointed, after a while I totally forgot I was at a McDonald's!

Card limit is 100,-USD only, so we need to order 3x. We are waiting for our orders but the crew handled it UNPROFESSIONALLY. They are calling our number and we had to take it realizing that our order is incomplete. I personally need to check our receipt and the orders if we have what we paid for, and we did not have. Unfortunately, we lack all the BIG MAC orders. I approached the counter to tell it and denied they forgotten big macs, he then go personally check our tables, ofcourse NO BIGMAC on the table, he gave 3 menus but we said 1 more menu missing. He again go back but with fries and drinks only. One of our group came to him and ask where is the burger, his answer " I will not anymore provide FREE food for people who cannot afford". Group become angry because they came from US and Canada to be called "cant afford" even to be at EUROPE trip for 2 weeks! I do not care anymore for the BIG mac, the food is McDonald quality, but the CREWS not. Having that big order, they should bring it on our table and check if we have everything, but not. They are just keep screaming our number and let us take it with uncomplete order. This crew is a shame to Mc Donalds, be thankful we calm the group down. This case will be going to the management . We randomly picked Meersburg as a mid point on our way to the Black Forest, not knowing anything…read moreabout it, and we are so happy we did. Stayed here in April 2013 and will definitely return. We stayed in room #7, which is a two bedroom with a bathroom en suite. The main bedroom had a very large king size bed with a big screen TV (no English channels). The second bedroom had two twin beds and a small TV. The beds were comfortable, with extra linens provided in the armoire. The bathroom was very small but had all you need: toilet, shower, sink, shower, and plenty of towels. The location is perfect! Close to the water and all attractions, including the old and new castles. You can walk to the castle in about 15-20 minutes...and it's not to steep so be sure to do it! There is one street in and out of town, and it's full of pedestrians. We were scared to drive down it at first, but just go slow, keep eyes open and go for it. The pedestrians will move! You have to drive down this street to get to the parking lot (have to pay the hotel for a pass to park here)! The street is very busy until late at night, especially with hotel restaurant guests, but close the rouladens (German shutters) and it blocks out the noise and the sun. We did not eat dinner on site but the breakfast was very good! One of our favorites from our three week European adventure. The typical spread of cheeses, meats, breads and jams, as well as boiled eggs, smoked salmon, caprese, fresh fruit, and more.

The information plaque has a lot written about the history and several nice drawings of how the castle originally looked many hundreds of years ago. From the designated parking place you must walk through a private houses driveway and then turn right then it's a very short hike to the ruins. Overall I found it to be a very interesting and worthwhile side trip to make and also there is an interesting Linde tree to visit nearby which has reportedly beneficial healing abilities.
