The breakfast was awesome!! It had everything - fruit and yogurt bar, pastry bar, assorted cereals and oatmeal, eggs, sausages, cappuccino machine, etc. The room was a good size with plenty of storage area for clothes and luggage. The bathroom had a really narrow bathtub so when showering, I found myself always sliding. They should just remove the tub and install walk-in showers. Also, no facecloths or hair conditioner. They use that 3 in 1 soap, shampoo, conditioner stuff. Fortunately, I had my own. But no facecloth. One thing I was pleasantly surprised by - the way the hotel is laid out, there is a large Zen Garden in the courtyards that separate the two sides of the hotel. You can't enter the garden, but the walls of large windows still give you a sense of tranquility. Every time I walked by, I just breathed a little more deeply and easily. The one thing I didn't appreciate - my stay was arranged and prepaid through AAA. When I wanted to leave a day early (and I gave MORE than 24 hours' notice), they refused to refund the day's charge. Something about "commission." I don't care about commissions. If I give over 24 hours' notice, I expect a refund. So I'll look to AAA about that.

I love it here and the front desk staff has not changed significantly in years so that's a good sign. Same friendly people greeting me every time. Very clean, very friendly, room always ready on time if not early, great breakfast that's included. Once on a short layover at Frankfurt Airport on the way from Atlanta to Dubai I came here just for the breakfast. The shower has power and the beds are comfortable. There's a bakery closeby (it's Germany of course there is...) and lots of restaurants. Book yourself into this hotel it's great!

It's located between the city center and the university campus. It is a real business hotel with conferencing facilities and a large underground parking garage. The rooms are nice, equipped with good beds and a powerful shower. The WiFi is at par. The breakfast is rich and plentiful, but also quite expensive. For a business stay the maximum score: 5/5. For leisure I would go somewhere else.

The staff is always attentive, polite and service minded. Newly build hotel and very clean over all. The breakfast is very good and I like sitting in that light restaurant in the morning overlooking the park. The rooms are over all very nice and you get free toiletries. If you order room service you will get charged a 4 Euro service charge for them to bring up your food. There is a very small Fitness room with one treadmill (which you are not allowed to use before 8 in the morning), one cross trainer and two different types of bikes. The machines seems older than the hotel and are loud and run down. The fitness room does not open until 7.00 AM so forget working out in the morning if you are here on business. My biggest complaint is that there is no free wifi in this hotel. It seems very unusual in Germany as a whole to find free wifi for some strange reason considering both France and Spain seems to have caught onto this and most business hotels in southern Europe now offer wifi. At WHD you will get an ethernet cable if you request it at check-in which you can use for free internet. But who wants to be tied to the desk when you have to work at night in your room? I much rather work in bed or from the armchair. And your smart phone is out of comission for your entire stay because of this. Don't know why, but the no wifi thing annoyes the heck out of me. Can't WhatsApp with friends and family at home and can't get to my Spotify account for some encouraging beats at the gym. I really don't care if I have to pay a slightly higher room charge to make this happen, just get your guests free wifi! When WHD gets free wifi I will upgrade them to a 4-star rating!

The room was smaller than a typical hotel, but nevertheless, clean bed and bathroom. If WiFi is required, definitely pay the daily fee. The "free" WiFi is barely functional. There is soap provided but it's a body/hair/hand soap, so if you need more specific products, I'd recommend bringing your own. Unfortunately, the water heater was broken the first day, so the showers were freezing cold (but on the upside, it prepared my coworkers and I for the current outside winter weather; our stay was in December). Not a bad stay. Just not a very good one.

He made me a complementary breakfast when I arrived and also gave me some home made apfelstrudel during my stay. The rooms are clean and adequate well, one cannot expect luxuries for this price. Why one star? I had some difficulty deciding on this, feeling ungrateful for the kindnesses I had been shown. Yet that is not the whole story and people contemplating this hotel should know the whole story. I did not sleep late one single day that I was there. First reason is that the curtain in my room was essentially a lace curtain and did not keep the light out at all, and there is a street light that shines directly into the room. Second reason is the noise. The owner is always banging around in the kitchen first thing, talking at the top of his voice, or generally making a racket. There are lots of rules close all inner doors, open the window just so, do this, do that. You start feeling as if you are intruding by being there. It is termed a mini-hotel but it is never made entirely clear what services are being provided under that banner. My bin was not emptied for the entire first week and I was never told where to empty it myself. You pay extra for cleaning. I was only told towards the end of my stay how to get a clean towel. For some reason my room had potplants on the windowsill and he insisted on coming in every day to water them. So even a Sunday afternoon, when one should be able to have a rest, is not sacrosanct - he phoned the room, and when I didn't answer banged on the door. All to come in and water the plants. Why not just ask me to water the plants, or better still, remove them and leave me in peace? To call this place a hotel is stretching things. It is essentially a house full of apartments. Ok fair enough, but usually when you rent an apartment you are left in relative peace. I don't think the owner really understands the concept of a hotel. In his mind this is his home and you are paying to be a guest. This sort of cosy homey atmosphere might be what some folks are looking for. My personal preference is for the unpersonalised run of the mill hotel where you pay, you use the room, and you leave and both sides understand the impersonal nature of the transaction.
