This business is a real gem in the Inwood community. In my experience with speech pathologists their dedication is phenomenal, whether being flexible to a family's schedule to providing acute advice. In short I would recommend Premium Therapy highly to any parent. Addressing a negative review I read - Dealing with speech development issues can be a taxing event to any parent and it is very plausible for one to direct their frustration where it is unwarranted. With that said I want to put forth the following as my experience with the staff: i) the multi-lingual staff has always afforded the parents the ability to choose the language to carry out the sessions in, ii) Based on my conversations with other parents that bring their children here: The manifestation of traits that would benefit from consultation by a specialist are communicated as feedback rather than a diagnosis, and iii) ) I've never seen a child diagnosed with a condition other than a speech related matter.

I took my child there…read morebecause when I asked the pediatrician what I could do about my child's speech delay she said I should have him evaluated. After calling the first time I was promised a call back for an appointment but after a few days I had to call back myself to ask again. Communication and organization was really not great. When I took my child there, I have to admit the place looked nice and people were welcoming. Well, appearances can be deceptive. After the paid evaluation took place, I had to call three times (again !) to get a report which was useless because it didn't take into account (and admitted so) the multilingual aspect. After that bad experience I researched a little bit about speech therapy and found out that a child's vocabulary had to be evaluated by adding the words in all languages. Anyway, to make a long story short I took my child to another therapist a couple of months later and my child has progressed a lot. He started Pre-K in a bilingual school in September and his speech has improved a lot in both languages. PS : Any reviewer who claims any business is the best in the 5 boroughs either is lying or hasn't seen a lot of New York. It's fine for a pizza place but a child's speech development is serious matter.

I first met Felicia around 2014 when I was a nanny for one of her clients (J). He had been receiving mediocre speech services at home and could only produce a few sounds. Felicia came highly recommended to our team as someone who specialized in working with children with autism and apraxia of speech. Since starting speech with Felicia, J has shown significant improvement in his speech and language skills. He went from only making sounds to formulating small phrases/sentences! I immediately scheduled an appointment with her pediatrician and once again it was confirmed Londyn has an impairment. I spoke with several speech pathologists in my area, however no one seemed to fit, whether it was scheduling flexibility price or personality. I was referred to Having Our Say by Londyns preschool. From our very first evaluation, Shontaye was very professional warm and welcoming. She identified all of Londyns deficiencies and devised a plan best suited for Londyn to succeed. Shontaye worked with Londyn 2-3 times weekly for over a year. Together they worked on reading exercises and making Londyn aware of which sounds come from throat or the roof of her mouth. Shontaye also reinforced positive techniques such as reminding Londyn to speak like a turtle (because she spoke very fast) so that she can be better understood. That is actually a technique that we still use to date and I've made her current teachers aware of. Shontaye created a solid foundation for Londyn to be conscientious of her pronunciation and speed in which she speaks. Londyn has developed confidence and is less frustrated when speaking in public. Londyn has had two speaking parts at her school in front of large audiences and I believe that is all attributed to Having Our Say. Thank you for time flexibility in schedule and efforts. Boy was I wrong!…read more Sue was an extremely efficient therapist and her history of being a leading edge OT practitioner allowed her to easily settle me and start me listening to my first 15 days/30 hours. It took a little while to get used to the music, but it was not a problem, and I soon found ways to keep myself busy. The results were, for me, subtle but substantial, including being told that I had sung on key for the first time in my life. Furthermore, I felt better placed to cope with life in the city. I was energized, and my memory was improved and more effective. Overall, I felt better toned and able to act as if I was in control of my life. I recommended it to my teenage daughter who was "stuck" with making decisions in her life. After a couple of sessions in the first loop, she reengaged her energy and started moving forward again with her life. My step-daughter needed a boost before sitting her GMAT exam. It improved her focus and the score she received. I have read much about the neuroplasticity impact of music and Tomatis, but experiencing it both when I trained and in my life afterwards made me extremely glad that I tried the process. I researched practitioners in the NYC area and the costs were competitive. However, with the input and support Sue Sonkin provided you feel as if you are in a deep nurturing therapeutic relationship. It was, in my opinion, so good I did it for a second time two years later to solidify the effects. Well worth the time and money.
