I was *really* impressed with Buchanan Chiropractic - AND I visted here after purchasing a Groupon…read more So often I have found that Groupon deals result in a sub par experience but that was far from the case here. The girl at reception was lovely and friendly and very accomodating when I was booking an appointment, and the facilities were clean and well set-up. The stand out though, was Isla, my masseuse. She took time to go through my form (I'm used to that never being looked at when I've had other massages!) and ask me a few additional questions about my back pain, causes, etc. She was incredibly aware of the back/body/muscles on me as an individual and tailored the massage for my own aches and pains rather than just running through a routine. She practices a number of different types of massage and clearly enjoys what she does, resulting in what sounds like quite a few regulars who she enjoys working with because she enjoys freeing people from their pain and generally making them feel better. I absolutely didn't want my session to end. Deep Tissue is not generally known as being relaxing but she managed to get deep into my muscles without causing pain and making it a wonderful and relaxing experience. She finished by showing me a few stretches which would help to open up my muscles and help to alleviate desk-job related aches and pains. I was so impressed. I've been to a few masseuses and I've never before been so impresed with someone's skill. I definitely plan to return (though, when they're having a sale... it's a bit on the pricey side!).

Solid 3 stars for me. To be honest I'm still trying to find the *perfect* chiropodist in Edinburgh…read morewhere my tootsie's look like newborn feet after a visit and this is a bit where this city lets me down (along with beauticians too - much better on the West Coast). Shares premises with a dentists I think but ring the door bell and you'll be directed in. Good service though and I did like that I was told 1. I walk in a weird rounded way which means that my knee joints will be flexible (true - my knee cap is unstable) and 2. I may have one leg slightly shorter than the other (too complicated to get me lying down and properly measured this appointment) but my feet show different patterns of 'wear' as it was. My feet were done - hard skin removed, nails cut but I would have probably liked them buffed more so they were softer as I was long overdue feet TLC. Clean office and sterilised tools and my chiropodist was nice and chatty so it was a pleasant visit. If I'm in Edinburgh needing another appointment then I'd return but if I plan properly, I'd probably go to my old chiropodist back West. Note - don't wear jelly melissa's to a chiropodist appointment or at least say no to the lovely foot moisturiser if you are wearing them. It was nearly a disaster as I couldn't stop my feet sliding in my (snug) new mel's and thought I'd end up breaking bones. To be fair, the chiropodist questioned me on wanting the cream wearing said shoes, but it is the lovely minty foot moisturiser and the foot rub at the end is SO good... Ps. Price I think was about £25 but it was a couple of months ago...

I have difficult feet which develop calluses etc so the correct treatment is essential. Now my sister and her mother-in-law go there and agree he is the best. And a lovely chap to boot!

This morning I called to book a BIAB nail application and a pedicure, just like the photo I sent …read more They said, "Sure, we can do that." The lady spent about an hour on my nails, but she didn't clean my cuticles properly. I asked her to make them look clean, but she barely touched them. She applied two layers of clear base and then two layers of a nude milky shade -- which looked nothing like what I had asked for. The result: bulky gel around the cuticles, uneven application, and one nail that wasn't even shaped round. When I pointed out that one nail looked off, she said, "Your finger isn't even." Her command of English was poor, which made it hard to explain what I wanted. I skipped pedicure cause I expected it will be a disaster. Since I had to rush to another appointment, I left but later called back to complain. I explained that I was unhappy with the result and that this wasn't BIAB. The man I spoke to told me to come back so they could redo it. When I returned, I explained again that the nails were bulky, uneven, and nothing like what I had asked for. They didn't seem to understand me, and he said, "She did a good job. I can remove it if you like, but we don't do BIAB color." I was shocked -- why didn't they tell me that in the morning before taking the booking? In the end, he removed the top layer, told me to wash my hands, gave me back my money, and left me with cracked, unfinished layers still on my nails. They weren't cleaned, smooth, or wearable. Overall: a complete waste of time, unprofessional, misleading, and the worst nail experience I've ever had.
