I started out just taking voice lessons but eventually my teacher Josh inspired me to try piano again after 8 years of avoiding the keys. I'm so glad he did because in the last 6 months, I've been working hard to accompany myself while I sing and it's made me a much stronger musician! Even though I've taken lessons for over 10 years, I never performed in public until Josh convinced me to sign up for an adult open mic. It was one of the coolest experiences I've had and I've since done two of their public recitals. You won't find a more supportive or welcoming music community anywhere. All of the teachers are kind and adept at meeting the students where they're at in their comfort and experience level. Chris, the owner, and my teacher, Josh, are super encouraging of everything and I've never felt more comfortable as a musician. Going to Off the Wall is my favorite time of the week. For anyone looking to get into music or looking to expand their skills, I can't recommend Off the Wall enough.

His knowledge of the art of drumming is extensive and his lessons are always as informative as they are fun. He's great at breaking down complex rhythms into digestible parts that even someone with no music experience can master. For those who are more musically inclined, his more advanced ensemble classes allow you to explore densely layered rhythms and different techniques. I'm also a big fan of the intensive weekend workshops, or urban retreats, he holds. I attended a workshop where we learned a Senegalese Bak, which was a very cool rhythm. It was neat to hear the story behind how he learned it and the significance of the rhythm.

SELC A1 was so helpful in doing a slow transition to the toddler room, which was a bit overwhelming for our daughter at the beginning. She warmed up to it and now loves it. The staff seem to genuinely like the kiddos and enjoy their jobs. They do fun activities with the kids and take them outside quite a bit. We get lots of great updates throughout the day and the teachers are always happy to chat at drop-off and pick-up. The kids all seem happy, too. There are lots of smiling happy faces in pictures. Though I don't have a lot of experience with other daycares, SELC A1 feels very organized and the communication is great, which I really appreciate. It was something I noted from the very beginning of our search. It feels like everyone is paying attention and doing their best to provide quality care and service. The Procare app is awesome for 2-way communication between teachers/parents and provides a glimpse into the kid's day with pictures/videos/text updates. The center provides meals (breakfast and lunch) and an afternoon snack. The facility also has two outdoor play spaces, one of which is covered. All in all, a great option in West Seattle
