The building I was in was very quiet, my neighbors were very friendly. When I moved in the apartment was not very clean, I had to clean it top to bottom. i did have a few maintenance issues, and they were not taken care of in a very timely manner. My issue is with the move out process, after my lease was up I was "told it was month to month. I gave a 30 day notice and I was then told I would have to pay an additional month's rent because I failed to give a 60 day notice. my response was it is month to month, the manager said it is but your contract states with a 60 day notice. I did look back at it and it is buried in the contract, but they do not mention that until move out time. During the time I signed the lease I was told several time after the year is up it is month to month. That is false, it becomes a 2 month lease that extends every month. Then they won't let you deposit cover the second month, because it has to cover damages and cleaning fees. As I stated my apartment was not clean when I moved in, and did not have new carpet or paint. Then I was told they only done final inspections during the week and if I was not present I could not dispute any claims. I told the manager I would have pictures and video after all my things were out for documentation and proof there were not damages. The manager said that was irrelevant, I still would not be able to dispute the claims. In short the manager is horrible to talk with, she has a very aggressive attitude and then question when you return the attitude. In all I would never recommend renting from there, my overall experience was well below what I expected. There are much nicer apartments in the area at a comparable price. I give it a 2 on a scale of 1-10.

Lofts at 909 - The Lofts at 909 apartment building in Harrisburg, PA

I loved the rain shower head, incredibly comfortable bed, warm lighting, granite counter tops, dark wood kitchen cabinets, and enormous windows. I'm not sure where else you could find an apartment that comes with 2 LCD TVs, 2 original paintings, a leather couch, dishes, towels, sheets...it is literally move in ready; you don't need to bring anything at all. Mayur is hands down the most friendly landlord I've ever known - I'd recommend taking a tour of the place just to meet him (and to see this incredible place). Pros: Close to everything in Harrisburg, nice furnishings (mostly Ikea), only have to write one check every month (cable, internet, electricity, water, sewage, trash, parking, etc., is all included in the rent), very quiet neighbors, jaws drop on everyone that visits, somehow the entire building always smelled really good...I'm sure I could go on for a while with this Cons: It is very expensive for Harrisburg...if you look at the most recent census this place is literally off the charts for a Harrisburg apartment - but you do get what you pay for (plus it is pretty much all inclusive). The apartments are on the small side; mine was around a measly 550sqft. A few times the toilet wouldn't stop running (it's not your conventional flapper toilet so I had no idea how to fix it)...maintenance fixed it promptly when called. It took a few months to get a key to the mailbox - I eventually just went to USPS to buy one. I am still trying to figure out why it's "Lofts" at 909 because it isn't a loft...just an apartment with really high ceilings.

The reason why it's so hard to get in here...is because of how GOOD it is here. Management is amazing!!! We were met with kindness and professionalism....and that still continues to this day. Shady Oak doesn't need a pool or fitness center to sell it.......the apts (I call condos bc they're as nice as one)...sell themselves. Not to say ...that I wouldn't be mad if they put a pool in...lololol. One person's "bad" experience should not reflect the majority. As for "the rich"..not living here....the other reviewer...seems pretty elite-ish. 100k combined....not nothing new here....just look at the nice cars in our parking lots. There's a perfect mix. And to assume that there is going to be crime here....is so off base. It's quite, beautiful, safe and a great place to raise a family. So please do not allow one crap review from steering you elsewhere. I recommend our development to everyone--if there is availability. The only reason ppl leave here is if they buy a home or get to an age where they require assistance.

The office representatives are super nice but do not have the authority to make decisions. In fact, management seems to be "hidden" - you cannot contact the decision makers. Lived there for four years, no pets, always paid rent on time and left the apartment spotless. During the first month a maintenance report was made because the tub was clogged. The response was that it was our problem and we needed to call a plumber. The dishwasher did not work properly for the entire four years. Rather than replace, they had replacement parts for each repair and the maintenance person even said that GE makes the worst dishwashers. The last time it was fixed it had leaked all over the carpet and when I asked if that would affect the security deposit we were told no. After move out, we were billed for wear and tear on the carpet because of water damage. The refrigerator is not a luxury appliance and does not fill the space at all. There are not assigned parking spots. If you want to print something, you have to pay a fee if the computer and printer work. There is not complimentary coffee or water for tenants like many luxury apartments have and no pool. They will raise your rent significantly every year AND you must take the cable they have. Verde also does not tell you that you will be billed for school taxes by Hummelstown yearly. Yes, they bill renters in Hummelstown and Verde does not disclose. The complex is clean, quiet, and the location is great. However, they are NOT luxury apartments.

Executive House Apartments - Bathroom in Studio/Executive level

My husband and I lived at Executive House Apartments for 6 months. We chose EH because of the…read morelocation (it's right downtown on 2nd St behind Pinnacle Hospital within an easy 5 minute walk to several bars, restaurants, and the Susquehanna River), the ability to get a short term lease, and you could have pets without paying a pet deposit or monthly pet fee (we have 2 cats. I don't know if that would apply for dogs or if dogs are even allowed. I don't think I ever saw any). We rented a studio apt on an Executive level of the building. Floors 1-3 are "Executive Level". They've been remodeled to look like a lot of the new apartments you see in complexes these days. The studio was spacious and cozy. It even had a European-style washer/dryer where it washes and drys your clothes all in one. The downside of that was your clothes never got 100% dry and it took about 3 hours to do one load of wash. I don't know what the walls are made of, but we NEVER heard our neighbors. We'd come home from the bars at 2am and blare EDM. No complaints ever. Garage parking is available for $90. It's unassigned parking but it's a big garage so you'll always get a spot. The downsides were that the rent was a little high for a short term lease, if you are in an apt that faces 2nd St you will hear a lot of sirens because of the hospital, there are A LOT of homeless people downtown who will constantly ask you for $, and there aren't enough things to do in downtown Harrisburg that would make me want to live there long term. However, if you are in town for work for a short amount of time for work, like we were, I highly recommend this apartment building. The residents we encountered were friendly and outgoing. People from all walks of life live there. Most importantly, John, the leasing agent, is FANTASTIC!!! Seriously, one of the best leasing agents I've ever worked with.

The elevators are still slow as molasses. But most things are as they were, which is why I didn't lower my 3-star rating. But the quality has gone down hill over the years. When I lived there the local management ran the place. I went away for vacation the day after I moved in. I didn't have a bed yet. But the local management knew my mother. So they let her into my apt to deliver a bed for me. How nice! They were lickety split with repairs! They were even lenient with some of the rules as a reward for being a good tenant. They gave me a deal for having a cat (they didn't charge me). I was behind one month and they didn't charge me the late fee since I'd been so regular up until that point. Lots of awesomeness. When I moved out the big wig management in Philly had begun to take over. I got this WHOMPING bill for past "cat rent" plus late charges on those fees PLUS the late charge from the one waived month WITH a late fee for that! It took me months to dispute it. The local management where very sorry and SOOO empathetic but had their hands tied. I've been back multiple times to visit friends who now live there. But the lobby seems run down. The hallways smell. The carpet needs cleaning. The walls seem dingey. Repairs go for a while before being fixed. It's very central to everything a person without a car could need. But I'm not sure they're the best option any more.
