I am happy I chose Verde Apartment as our first home in Pennsylvania. The apartments are clean and well maintain. Safe and quiet neighborhood. Prime location, almost near to everything including the HMC hospital. The staffs and maintenance crew are very responsive and helpful. read more

Verde is in a great location for the Hershey Medical Center. However, they are NOT luxury apartments. The office representatives are super nice but do not have the authority to make decisions. In fact, management seems to be "hidden" - you cannot contact the decision makers. Lived there for four years, no pets, always paid rent on time and left the apartment spotless. During the first month a maintenance report was made because the tub was clogged. The response was that it was our problem and we needed to call a plumber. The dishwasher did not work properly for the entire four years. Rather than replace, they had replacement parts for each repair and the maintenance person even said that GE makes the worst dishwashers. The last time it was fixed it had leaked all over the carpet and when I asked if that would affect the security deposit we were told no. After move out, we were billed for wear and tear on the carpet because of water damage. The refrigerator is not a luxury appliance and does not fill the space at all. There are not assigned parking spots. If you want to print something, you have to pay a fee if the computer and printer work. There is not complimentary coffee or water for tenants like many luxury apartments have and no pool. They will raise your rent significantly every year AND you must take the cable they have. Verde also does not tell you that you will be billed for school taxes by Hummelstown yearly. Yes, they bill renters in Hummelstown and Verde does not disclose. The complex is clean, quiet, and the location is great. However, they are NOT luxury apartments. read more

Do NOT move into these apartments! The company owners are corrupt, crooks, and lie in wait to take money out of your pocket. I lived here for 11 months and was forced to get a $1 million insurance policy, an amount normally only associated with/for businesses. Of course, my renters insurance (USAA) wouldn't provide such a policy - or - would for a ridiculous amount of money, so I was forced to find the local "referred" insurance company that would facilitate this type of policy. Can you say "crooked" and deviant? Then, upon moving out, this company charged me over $1200 to replace a door...a regular hollow-core door for the bathroom that costs approximately $50 at Lowes. They couldn't wait to go through the apartment to find ways to not give back the security deposit. So, I repeat, DON'T MOVE INTO THESE APARTMENTS"! The owners are scumbags and you will regret this decision. read more

Update: Verde is terrible. We moved out over a month ago and they just sent us our security deposit amount. They fraudulantly claimed that we did $5000 worth of damage to the apt. (If anyone is interested I will send you pictures of our walk out, to show that they are very blatantly lying) These made up charges include having to re-paint the entire apt, but (a new one for me) they're charging us over $1000 because "the walls were sticky" which required 3 people coming to the apt. every day to wipe degreaser on everything for 4 days. That's the most blatant lie a landlord has ever tried to get away with that I've seen, and I used to live in New Jersey. They also charged us $500 because of a "contractor oversight," which is not specified. When asked they told us we, "could get an attorney and go to court." We did a walkthrough, and none of this was mentioned. Rachel, the woman who works the front desk, is a duplicitous liar. She will tell you that things are going well while secretly planning to try and steal from you. Kevin, her boss, is not much better. Both of them should not be trusted, and I would not rent from them. Please do yourself a favor and don't do business with these people. They are liars, and they will very openly try to steal your money. We agreed to their high rent for a mediocre apt. in hopes that we would avoid this type of nonsense, but apparently even high end apartment complex's engage in the same type of fraud as cheaper apartments; they just ask for more money. read more

These apartments are overpriced, cheaply constructed and so awkwardly laid out it's actually puzzling. Example: the living area was spacious but there was no place to put a dining room table that wouldn't block an oddly placed door. The walls were a garish, blinding white that got scuffed when I rubbed a leather bag against them. All the fixtures were cheap hardware and there were no peep holes in the front doors. I moved in last August and was told there would be a gym (helped me rationalize the above market rent) and there was still no gym when I moved out in April. Plus covered parking was $100 a month which is what I pay now in a metro DC luxury high rise. If the apartments were 10-15% cheaper I think they'd be priced fairly for what you get read more

Would NOT recommend these apartments to ANYONE. Only thing they have going for them is that they are new and close to the med center. Other than that it is not worth the money. - Rude management (and I will also add weird/creepy) - ZERO amenities (they told us the gym would be done by the end of July and it is now December and they haven't even finished putting up the drywall in the "future gym") no Pool, no dog area, no kids area, no resident lounge area, nothing. - Don't allow you to have a grill because you are suppose to use the one they provide and THEY DONT HAVE ONE - Cheaply built. No peep holes in doors, no security systems, paint scratches VERY easily and I'm sure they will take tons of money out of security deposit to repaint the unit. Screen doors leading to patio are awful. Fall off very easily and you can walk around the complex and see other residents haven't even bothered to try and put them back on. - Every month at least twice they have people doing "maintenance" or "pest control" and have to come into your unit at random parts of the day which makes it difficult if you have pets and work during those times. - The first floor of my friends building has had a cut out square in the wall that has been there for weeks and no one does anything to make it look better. "Luxury living" (picture attached) - You have to pay extra to have lights installed in the bedrooms!!! That is just ridiculous. I actively speak to several (about 5) of the current residents here and every single one of them plans to move out as soon as the lease term is up. There is a reason you walk around the complex and see vacant units everywhere. There is a reason they have 1.5 star ratings on yelp. Save yourself the money and the hassle and live anywhere else but here. read more

Echoing the previous reviews, the place is nice because it is new and the location. However, that is all they have going for them. These apartments are built cheaply (screen doors that fall off, ceilings that cave in, and walls with cheap paint that scratches easily). They also promised us several amenities (such as a gym and a common area/grill space) when we signed on this past summer and we have NO AMENITIES. There is no clear communication on the status of these amenities that boost the rent price. Many people currently living here such as mare unsatisfied and are eager to move out. read more

Great location but terrible service. The biggest reason we stayed as long as we did is the location and convenience of the apartments. They are also newly built and in good relatively good condition. The biggest downside is the management... some of the worst I have encountered. For a "luxury" apartment, there are not many luxury services. No gym, no concierge, parking was tight and the covered parking is way overpriced. The higher level management or ownership stays intentionally separated from the tenants and absolutely refuse to return any phone calls or attempts at communication. The front office staff are very nice, but they have no influence in actually communicating with anybody of management. As a busy medical resident coming from out of state, I did not have the time to shop around as I should have.. and unfortunately this experience was not worth it. Not "luxury" apartments at all. No amenities as advertised. I've leased luxury apartments before and these are far from luxury. The rent is too high for what they offer. If they were $200 - $300 less per month, then they might be close to market. There are: No amenities (as advertised when I signed my lease) No ceiling fans (unless you want to pay more per month) No gym $200 late fee assessed if rent is late (other property managers usually assess $25 - $50) No barbeque area No pet stations No rent payment drop box No spacious patio or balcony (can fit one person comfortably) Poor sound suppression (can hear the tenants above me) Poor workmanship Plus too many other things to mention Not worth it! I see that a lot of the reviews a few years ago are regarding poor management. I was surprised. Just moved here 2 months ago and have had a good experience. Well maintained, comfortable apartments. There are several amenities now with gym, common space for TV/hanging out, outdoor seats and grill. The front desk is very nice and helpful. There is a 24/7 mail room. Tall ceilings, plenty of daylight. read more

Horrible management from the get go and absolutely no effort for management or owners to listen to or even speak to their customers. In the three years living here I had to deal with so many inappropriate issues including: getting called the day before my move in date stating the apartment was not available and had no accurate move in date ; car getting towed because they forgot to include it on the list of tenets' cars and did not offer to pay back the cost; emergency service after hours didn't answer for 4 hours and I had to call the police when I got locked out of my apartment; and finally, did not accommodate the request for month to month rent when more than 3 months advance notice was given. There are so many other issues that I would disclose had I the character space. I have requested to speak to the owners at least a dozen times to get answers and never have we been able to be put in touch with any of them. This is ludicrous as I have never seen any kind of business establishment where the paying customer does not have he chance to speak to a supervisor. Please do not be fooled by the fancy exterior of these new buildings- the fundamental core of its business management is toxic and you would be better off living anywhere else. I had a phenomenal experience staying at these apartments for a year. Not only is the location ideal, with restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping all within a mile but the apartments are luxurious and beautiful inside. The appliances are all high-end, the bedrooms are spacious with ample amounts of closet and storage space, and each unit is equipped with a washer and dryer. The apartments are also very quiet as I rarely if ever hear the tenants living above and below me. The leasing staff is extremely helpful and knowledgable. It truly was a flawless experience and if my occupation didn't relocate me out West, I would return for another year. read more
