Our toddler started at the school in August 2025 and he has LOVED it. Not only has he been safe, nurtured, and loved - he has also learned and developed a great deal and has made many new friends. His ability to maintain concentration, complete tasks independently, and verbalize thoughts and emotions has grown leaps and bounds. Indeed, Foothill Montessori is not just a daycare for toddlers and infants - the curriculum and staff provide schooling and learning just like they do for any other age group. I can't say enough good things about my son's Teachers (called "Guides"). Their respect for each child and their ability to teach and manage toddlers - all while maintaining utmost safety within the classroom - is second to none! The curriculum also includes a fantastic music program (which our little guy adores), as well as specific emotional / social development teaching by a dedicated (and amazing) staff-person. Not only have the education and experiences been great for our little guy, but the setting itself is nothing short of pristine. Most other schools (and especially daycares) are slightly dingy and also noisy. Not Foothill Montessori. The building is beautiful, light-filled, and extremely well-maintained. And it's shockingly quiet when you walk the halls. The Teachers / Guides are clearly super-engaged and cultivating an environment that keeps the youngsters' attentions. Most important, the entire staff knows and cares for each and every child. The leadership team and front-office staff seem to know everyone's name. I've observed them greeting by name every single parent and child who enters the school - from infants all the way up to 6th graders. I love dropping our son off to school, as I've come to consider the staff as good friends. And we've also been able to connect with fellow parents and enjoy playdates with other children. In addition to our toddler, we will be enrolling our infant daughter in a few months. All this to say -- I can't recommend Foothill Montessori enough and would give more than 5 stars if I could!

Glad I made the final decision to have my child attend this elementary. The teachers are amazing as I have met and know them first hand and have witnessed them spending their time individually with each student as if it were their own child. I love that I am able to help out with any school activities as well for my own child's classroom. The PTA is awesome here! I love the "no-bully" rule at this elementary, it definitely helps with all children's behavior anywhere on campus. I love this school so much that I make sure to donate to the school, class room, events, etc. I enjoy knowing that they have plenty of supplies for all of the students, not just 1-10, lets share and make it 1-800.

I think he has the "disease to please"...and so, he kind of "tip toes" around touchy situations. But, all in all he is a nice guy, and seems to take an interest in the kids. The gal who runs the front office, is at the top of her game. She knows most every kid by name, and even remembers their siblings names. I am terribly impressed by her. They offer full day kindergarten (8:30-3:15), breakfast, after care, morning exercise programs, and special learning activities after school. I can't wait until my youngest will be old enough to attend this school. Overall, I think it's a great school!!

Not sure how this place doesn't have a review, seeing as how it's over 100 years old and all, but…read moreit's probably due. A lot of this rating has to do with the former principal, who is now thankfully put to pasture somewhere and who shepherded that whole "take the kids lunch away and throw it in the trash in front of them" thing...look up the news stories on that one if you're not familiar. Without getting into details, that was one of many examples of the notoriously disgraceful mannerisms of that particular individual and it colored (negatively) the entire school. Front office staff is also atrociously offensive and though this may (and hopefully will) change in the future, this is also one of the greediest schools I've ever had the misfortune of observing. This is also one of the busier schools and if your child is well acclimated to institutions, they will stand a much better chance. If they're not or if they need some extra attention, this is not even remotely a good choice and almost certainly they will not enjoy their time there. The school reminds me a lot of the school portrayed in the Pink Floyd's The Wall movie, as far as what they ideally seem to want from the children. Individualistic behavior does not appear to either be wanted or encouraged. There do seem to be some teachers who care and who are invested in the kids, but they seem frequently overburdened, so time will forever be at a premium to them and that probably explains why there is such a heavy parental assistant load (far more than I've seen elsewhere) present here. There are a myriad of educational "styles", of course, but this one does not seem to be built for any of the student's education, confidence or success...

Ms. Reese is a far better alternative and a dedicated teacher. Ms. Bares missed 10+ days of a term at the end of the term and work/testing that normally would have been done was not. Though I understand the reason she missed 10 days I am at a complete loss as to how this approach was in any way beneficial to the kids for which she was responsible. There was an expectation on her part to be allowed the time off but she refused any consideration as to how that might impact her classes and the children's grades. Her approach was discussed at length with herself, the principal and the district. The principal and the district claim their hands are tied and the teacher utterly refused to even discuss the issue and stormed out of our meeting indignant that she was being questioned. The school is a newer facility with air conditioning which is a definite plus and it is a feeder to Skyline which is also still currently a plus. It is close to the freeway so accessibility is good. However I would seriously be reconsidering another school if I had any younger children. PS. Playing games with parents and trying to somehow trip them up over whether a sick student used a cell phone or not is also not appreciated. If my child is sick and I come to get them I'm not in the mood to play 20 questions. Really the desperate attempts to somehow control the kids and the parents is really very off-putting.

Day in, day out, the "assistant" Principal, Reneé Dehaan bullies these kids to the point where they don't even want to go to school anymore. I could post over a hundred examples, but rest assured that she really embraces the "power" of controlling children. I assume, like many employees in an administrative role, that she was stepped on when SHE was in Jr High and High School, but now she sees herself as the one that finally has the ability to step on others. When talking to her over the phone she won't answer any questions, but is quick to accuse every kid of terrible things. When asked directly what the kid(s) are guilty of, she has no answer. I believe that sending any child here is just a waste of the kids' & parents' time. I wish they would just take the time to hire some quality (and qualified) people that actually care about children.
