Hung out here today with these beauties. Luke, the owner, could not have been nicer. He let us feed the horses, told us the story of his farm and gave us a tour.

Not cleaned up from trails…read morecoming in or going out, manure pile is the first thing you pass going in, what once was grass and fence in the pony track isn't anymore, and only the ponies were saddled, not the trail horses. One of the owners wasn't dressed to ride if needed (meaning in a jumper not jeans) and if barn is off limits, which the aisle was cluttered anyway, it should be roped off until needing to pass through with a horse. Previous operator ran 80 trail horses and a dozen ponies and it was always kept in great shape and clean for visitors, horse owner always ready to lead a trail and horses ready with plenty of hay in the racks of the pens. Very disappointed that it is allowed to look like that. Only good thing was there was mounting steps but the location and permanent look questionable. The horses and ponies looked good.

I was encouraged when told they would call us when we were 25 minutes out, but then they said the cell service didn't work, so we were afraid to leave to go hiking or eat. The whole day was wasted waiting for this experience. The whole process seemed very inefficient, and it's hard to understand why they don't take reservations. Allowing guests to book a time slot ahead of their visit would make things so much smoother and save families from wasting an entire day just waiting around. Brown County is such a beautiful place, but unfortunately, this experience really took away from the enjoyment.

Midwest Trail Ride is one of my favorite places to go horse camping. Midwest has electric sites,…read morecabins, and primitive camping. They have plenty of stalls for the horses of their patrons, and they provide all the needed amenities necessary for horse campers. What's nice about Midwest versus regular camping is that it is really set up for horseback riders, and they make it very convenient to bring your horse and trailer. My wife and I have visited Midwest annually since she got me into horses and we have not had a bad visit. With Midwest being on the edge of Hoosier National Forest, you have no shortage of trails to ride. The Midwest trails are well maintained, better maintained than in the national forest in fact. Best part of visiting: no cell phone signal. You are in a nice quiet place you can relax and enjoy yourself without the stress of the outside world.

I had the privilege of meeting the wonderful folks who started MTR. What wonderful people. I remained impressed as the business changed hands. However, the current management has a lot to learn when it comes to how to treat the people who pay their hard earned money to travel and stay there. I was unpleasantly surprised at how rudely I was asked to move my rig. Courtesy goes a long way with me. Just be polite and remember --we are the customers. I have spent a lot of money in their tack store and have been a weekend and day rider as well. The people who run it now need to remember that they are not the only access point into Hoosier National Forest. Sadly this will be my last visit. I have absolutely loved meeting horse campers from all around....it's just the disrespectful and rude treatment from the female manager/owner that has convinced me to go elsewhere.

The farm land is huge and the animals are all well behaved so even if you're scared, you won't be for long. We took the Girl Scout troop on an outing here and the girls loved it. Kadeem is really eager about introducing farm life to city kids and helping make the comfortable and knowledgeable. I loved the way he allowed them to interact with the animals in ways they would never be able to other places. He does not restrict the kids and uses everything as a learning opportunity. My daughter was upset we had to leave without the alpaca. We will definitely be returning again. They also do petting zoo and horse rides for parties. He was so nice to even walk with my daughter bc she was scared to ride. 10/10 I definitely recommend to anyone looking for an up close, personal. Memorable animal experience!

I rode quite a bit many years ago. I had a service expectation in my mind for how things would go and unfortunately the team at this ranch did not deliver. On arrival, parking was not clearly marked (broken signs and no arrows to direct you). Once out of the car, there was no one to greet us or give next steps. We were told by visitors already waiting to step inside the barn to sign a waiver. Once inside, the staff member who wondered out of the dark handed the waiver to me and explained it. Yet she never said hello or introduced herself. It all felt very transactional or as if we weren't welcomed. I can only assume how many trail rides are provided in a day or week but the experience is still special to visitors. I would like to think they still remember this. My children were assigned horses (Cherokee and Widow) and given basic riding instructions from other staff members (they stated afterward the women providing them were not very warm). I was given a horse named Stitch that I did not enjoy or recommend to anyone who has never ridden before. He was headstrong and unfriendly. I can say: The 60 minute ride through the wooded trails was beautiful and very quiet. Our group totaled six so I guess I assumed there would be conversation from the trail lead but there was none. No water was provided or information about the land we were on. I was grateful for the instructor stopping before bigger hills to describe what was ahead and how to best handle it, it helped my kiddos, but I can't say as I would come to this place again. The horses looked thin and tired. Not to mention the barn bathroom was exactly what you'd expect: dusty dirty and rusty. Perhaps our expectations were too high? One big plus: the friendliness of my children's horses and the barn cats.
