I've always loved driving around this area; the views of the reservoir are just picturesque. The best time to go is during the autumn when the leaves turn. The Scituate Reservoir is the largest lake in Rhode Island; and largest inland body of water. Over 60% of the RI population drinks the water from this reservoir. In the early 1900's, many people were forced to leave their homes in order to have the dam built and create the reservoir. There is no trespassing on the property which is owned by the Providence Water Supply; recreation is prohibited for obvious reasons. Driving on the causeway is the best way to enjoy it; even if it's just a quick glimpse. We used to be able to park on street and walk to the causeway back in the day; I don't think that is allowed anymore. read more

Absolutely gorgeous views! Pristine natural beauty! Drive through here on Rt 14. It's on the way to many great spots including the Audubon's George B. Parker Wildlife Refuge- where you will find lots of challenging trails for a great hiking day. Continue on to go into CT and continue your adventures. Passing through here is always beautiful. read more

Over the last few months I have seen posts online and on local news channels that the Scituate Reservoir has been a nice place to catch the Aurora Borealis from its lack of light pollution! I've tried a handful of times to catch it and lucked out a few nights ago! The photos are unedited- the iPhone 13 Pro does a great job at capturing the colors, although it is much more faint to the naked eye! Everyone parks along the road before reaching the bridge. On the heavy traffic nights police monitor the area which is a plus. Add this on your list of places to visit even during the "leaf peeping" time of year! read more
