After an exhausting drive we pulled into the Scoot Inn. Great night's sleep, clean, friendly owner! Do yourself a favor, get off the interstate and travel like your mom and dad use to do!!

The hotel itself is in serious need of updates--rooms were mediocre and poorly maintained. Housekeeping never came during our stay, and we had to go looking for towels multiple times. The pool area was overcrowded, and the cleanliness was questionable. While dining outside was nice, the overall condition of the building really takes away from the experience. Great staff, but the property needs major upgrades and better upkeep.

Good beach access. The free included breakfast had hot items as well as your cereal, yogurt, etc. the rooms did not smell moldy as some beach hotels will. The rooms were clean, beds comfy, and rooms included a fridge. Hair dryer, microwave, ironing board, and decent size closet. For the negatives. The price is a LOT in my opinion. The parking lot is a nightmare and one of the couples in our party had someone basically scratch their call in multiple ways and the hotel said they only had 1 camera and it wasn't good. In this day & age that's kind of unacceptable. They also make you pay an additional fee to park your car. The elevators? Scary scary scary

Ulandah was also excellent with her service. Their services are what you hope for when staying at a Hyatt hotel. I noticed later in the evening, when the lobby was packed with new guests checking in, he maintained his pleasant demeanor. Definitely a gem at the front desk! I want to point out that this property does not charge for parking & has no resort fee. Parking did seem to be plentiful as we found a great spot quickly. Also, the free breakfast buffet was better than average. I was excited to see that the pool had finally been refurbished & was allegedly open, but we weren't able to access it at 9:15pm on a Friday night, though signage & Gerald at the front desk said the pool area was open until 10pm. This also meant that beach access was not available at this time from hotel grounds. As it was cold by Florida standards that night, lack of beach & pool access weren't deal-breaking but disappointing nonetheless. Our room offered a decent side-ocean-view from our balcony, and I enjoyed peeping the sunrise on Saturday morning from my bed. I was disappointed to notice that our balcony had no seating, but again, it was chilly so not a big deal. I hope patio chairs are on their reno list. And I also hope they look at replacing some of the in-room furniture. The *cozy corner* sofa has seen better decades, And the dresser below the TV was even more dated. In fact, the top drawer wouldn't stay closed (we weren't using it) and that became a running joke. As did the un-vacuumed carpeting in our room. The ice machine on our floor didn't seem to work, but I also noticed a sign noting it was only in-service certain hours (?!). I went to another floor and found a working ice machine, but was confused by that weird restriction. It was definitely within the specified operating window, but we already knew we couldn't access the pool area during the open times so I guess those are loose timeframes. The bathroom in our room was immaculate and the bedding was fresh (you know I checked the mattresses). We also had plenty of pillows, which I appreciated. Gerald at the front desk was fantastic & he didn't forget my free bottled waters as a Discoverist. That next morning, hubs woke up early as usual & caught sunrise from the sand, so he was thrilled with our stay here just for that & the buffet breakfast (which was good). We'll certainly visit again, and hope they update the room furniture & don't lock up everything too early.

Well as promised here we are for my Queen Bee's birthday and I don't even know when to start. Well:…read morelet's start with checkin. Rain was so solicitous and friendly, as was her coworker Paul. They were very friendly and told us that when our room was ready (we got there early and then 76 rooms checked out this morning) they'd call. So we sat at the bar for a good while of Happy Hour (1430-1800hrs) even AFTER our room was ready. Sheila was a fantastic hostess: VERY friendly and solicitous! She answered all we ever wanted to know and beyond regarding beverage and food selections available. Prices still remain reasonable too! Whine we were sitting there, Sandy the GM came out and spoke to us about all that been done since last we were here in August. The place looks awesome and like a whole new property, although they're still working on details and final touches. I'm totally done with that, and just love what has happened here to get this hotel looking 21st Century modern. When we finally DID go upstairs to our room....HOLY MACKEREL!! This was a total transformation! New floors, new paint, new furniture and pretty much new almost everything else. No more uncomfortable, unappealing 1968 era old fart furniture made by Marriott. Room was sparkling clean too. As you see in the pictures, the lil suite I booked was actually a HUGE one. I can't imagine a better birthday treat for my dear Queen Bee. If we had both Daughter Units and all six grandkids along for this jaunt, we STILL might have sufficient space. Well: probably not, but it's absolutely fine for two! So we went back down for a leisurely dinner, and Sheila was more than ready for us. Both our food choices were very nicely prepared to order and I have no complaints. Again: VERY reasonable prices for bar and food. Breakfast area was a bit shrunk due to continuing construction in the lobby area. Breakfast was still good and a full breakfast, included in the price of our little room. So now that this hotel is nearly done with moving up to the next level, then make a beach getaway HERE. You will NOT regret it!!!!!

It was spacious with all the needs for our stay. It's has a good size pool with a nearby kiddie pool (Our daughter was the only child there.) the pool deck is spacious and in direct view of the beach. There is access to the beach there as well. It was Jeep Week (we didn't know). Lots of really cool jeeps going by all day. Some rowdiness on the beach, but overall not bad. The grounds are clean and very well kept. All the staff was super friendly. So a couple things about our stay that weren't great. The unit- water leaked from the seal of the tub overlay ( the molded overlay that goes directly over an old tub) the whole time. The caulk from the wall seam was missing so the shower water ran right down into the under tub the base of the tun was lisa water pillow. It was also a safety hazard for someone who was unsteady with the floor moving with eyes closed in the shower. We used at least four towels at all times to keep up with it. The gentleman from maintenance said he would have to tear it out after we left. It seemed to not be a new problem and I am not sure why it wasn't addressed sooner. The deadbolt on the unit door was unusable due to salt water corrosion and needs to be changed. You could lock it from the inside. But the only "security " of you belongings was a standard lock. There is a little area off each room with a few chairs and tiny table. Super nice for the evening when our daughter had gone to bed. Overall a very nice stay.
