It was our first time staying at this property (my husband, myself and our 7 yo). Overall we really liked it. It's got the 50's vibe which I love. Our room had a great view. It was spacious with all the needs for our stay. It's has a good size pool with a nearby kiddie pool (Our daughter was the only child there.) the pool deck is spacious and in direct view of the beach. There is access to the beach there as well. It was Jeep Week (we didn't know). Lots of really cool jeeps going by all day. Some rowdiness on the beach, but overall not bad. The grounds are clean and very well kept. All the staff was super friendly. So a couple things about our stay that weren't great. The unit- water leaked from the seal of the tub overlay ( the molded overlay that goes directly over an old tub) the whole time. The caulk from the wall seam was missing so the shower water ran right down into the under tub the base of the tun was lisa water pillow. It was also a safety hazard for someone who was unsteady with the floor moving with eyes closed in the shower. We used at least four towels at all times to keep up with it. The gentleman from maintenance said he would have to tear it out after we left. It seemed to not be a new problem and I am not sure why it wasn't addressed sooner. The deadbolt on the unit door was unusable due to salt water corrosion and needs to be changed. You could lock it from the inside. But the only "security " of you belongings was a standard lock. There is a little area off each room with a few chairs and tiny table. Super nice for the evening when our daughter had gone to bed. Overall a very nice stay. read more

I love this place. It's unique and old school and very pink ! But it's clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Each room is unique and reasonably priced. There is a Winn Dixie and a 7-11 across the street and since every unit has a kitchen (ours in room 20 was a full kitchen) you never need to go out. Whimsical statues are everywhere -- the kids had a scavenger hunt and took pictures with their favorite statue. Videos and games are available to borrow. Great shuffleboard court and grill area . I was so excited to stay here. I saw some beautiful pictures of it on Instagram. I parked the car and with it being so beautiful and vintage, I wanted to get some pictures before checking in. I found Tropical Manor on Yelp. We were supposed to go to Key West,but Hurricane Irma took no mercy on the keys. I made the reservation at Tropical Manor Mon 9/11. I was not aware that they didn't have power back yet.So I checked their facebook page and it said they hoped to be up & running on tues. So I posted a comment and sent an email trying to confirm that my reservation would still be ok for thurs night check in. Aileen sent me a wonderful email on Wednesday that they were open & excited that we were coming. They had put us in an Charming Cottage. So we arrived Thurs night and was so excited we chose Tropical Manor and not a big hotel corp. It was so cute & homey. Everyone was so friendly. We got a cottage, which is like a small apartment. Living room, full size fridge, kitchen, stove & microwave. Dining table. Stocked with dishes , cups, pots & pans. The bedroom had its own a/c unit in it. Super comfortable queen bed. The bathroom & the rest of the cottage was super clean. The pool is right overlooking the ocean. The have grills out their guests can use. Some rooms are pet friendly. We were impressed. Friendliness, cleanliness, everything was fantastic. We will definitely be returning here in the future. Thank you so much! read more

This was our second visit. It has become my go-to weekend getaway (90 minutes from home). It doesn't have the greatest beach (unless you want to drive on the beach) and it doesn't have the greatest local attraction (unless you are a NASCAR fan). It also isn't the fanciest most luxurious hotel in the world or even in the state. What Tropical Manor is is the comfort food of lodging. It is welcoming and comfortable and you are treated with love. The individual room decor, the thorough housekeeping, the maintenance man more than willing to find a solution and be sure you are happy and the sun that arranged to stay out during every day of my long weekend all came together as a team in a way no chain motel could. If you want a quarter pounder with cheese go to a chain motel. If you want meatloaf the way your mom made is especially for you go to Tropical Manor. Be loved. read more

What a cute place.. It's not the Westin but a great place to vacation with the family. Reminds me of a place down in the Keys but much closer to home. Met some friends out here that have been coming to this same location for the past 20+ years. Although we didn't stay over night, we did see what the rooms were about. The room my friends stayed in was not fancy, but definitely functional for a family of four. This particular suite came with small kitchen, living room, small bath with shower no tub, and bedroom with two full beds. The pool area had an adult size pool and a small kiddie pool. Off of the pool area there is direct beach access with a shower to rinse off. The only downfall is the beach itself, it's not private so you still have to deal with the traffic on the beach. I'm not fond of driving on the beach, but watching people get their cars stuck in the sand can be quite entertaining. Across the street there is a grocery store, you don't have to pack up a bunch of coolers just shop when you get there. In the pool area there is a covered picnic area, and two charcoal grills. Great place to entertain! The staff was genuinely happy, always greeting you with a smile. I didn't get a chance to meet the owner, but I've heard she lives on site and is super friendly. A wonderful hotel that is a definite hidden gem in the Daytona area. Originally from the area, I was not too excited to visit my hometown and stay at a holiday inn. The room we had was a side view of the beach. The room was like a small 1 bedroom apartment! Nice kitchenette as well. The pool and BBQ area was nice as well. This was our second time staying at TM. Last year we stayed on the wonderful reviews based at Trip Advisor and after enjoying ourselves so much, we decided to do it again this year. Tropical Manor is a throwback to simpler times in Florida with pink buildings and murals. Both times that we have stayed it has been quiet and relaxing. Most of the guest we have seen have been older. We are in our 30's and everyone else we see is probably 50 and older. Room are well kept but I imagine soon it may be time to replace carpets and curtains, as they are beginning to show a bit of wear and tear. The pool is always at the perfect temperature and the beach is just steps away. You won't find a better place for the money in my opinion. We liked it so much we came back...that says it all. Edited 10/3/2012: We stayed again for our 3rd time and I am happy to report that the rooms have been updated with new carpet, fresh paint and new curtains! Also we left behind a box of clothes and they were nice enough to inform us and then mail the items to us. I can't wait to come back again next year! Also, the week we stayed there were finally people our age with kids our own kids ages which was nice! But even when the place is off season we always enjoy it. read more

Been staying at the Manor since I was 6 months old, with my parents grandparents and great grandparents. My brother and I grew up there. I'm 27 now and I take my son there. It still feels exactly the same. I hope he can have the same great memories there I have. I love that it's smaller and more family friendly. Would highly recommend! read more

Great place to spend a weekend. Try to stay in the "captains quarters" with the view of A1a- trust me- its free entertainment on a Friday night as people stumble down the street into various shadey motels and such. The staff are great here, its a mom-and-pop place that has been open for a long time. The decor is unique, some rooms have hand painted flowers on the walls!! I would tell any adventurous soul to spend time at Tropical Manor for a taste of real Daytona. Plus, its right on the beach which makes for great late night walks. read more

My extended family has stayed at the Tropical Manor for spring break since the 1970s. Audrey, the owner, takes great pride in the tropical decor that she has designed for the motel and guesthouse next door. The rooms are always clean and well-maintained. Since we come back year after year, we can always pick out signs that she continually puts money back into the motel every year to maintain its charm. Audrey has initiated nice touches for guests. Once a week, fresh-baked cookies are delivered to your room. Twice a week, one of the staff runs bingo under the oceanfront canopy. So much fun for kids. On Thursday nights, Audrey hires a DJ and there is a poolside dance for everyone to enjoy. She has a storage chest full of boardgames for the borrowing. All of the rooms have well-equipped kitchenettes. There are two sets of washers and dryer's on the premises to use. Tropical Manor is a well-kept secret in Daytona Beach. As much as we would love for our friends to join us on vacation, we always worry a little that the word about this place will get out!!!! This is a great place for families with small children. No loud music, no crazy spring breakers... Very safe and well-maintained. But promise you won't tell anybody. read more

We stayed here five nights. Everything was perfect. The staff is amazing- Jammer, Dennis and Sarah were so welcoming. The room, #41 Papaya Suite, was perfect- pool side and steps from the ocean. The room was clean and well maintained. My sons were delighted to be so close to the pool and shuffleboard. We'd never been to the Daytona Beach area but finding this hotel made our vacation wonderful. When we return we will stay here again, and again. read more

This is like stepping back into the 50's. From making the reservation to never getting a confirmation. If you get one two months later is will be hand written and it will be sent the day you cancel because you think the place is sketchy and has taken your money and never bothered to let you know it went towards a hotel room. Please, there are better places to stay at Daytona Beach. The Hawaiian is down the road and much less weird and more fun with their outside poor bar. I had to turn this place in to the BBB and the FTC. Not a good business practice. :( There is also a 2 week cancellation notice. "Out of the Ordinary" is correct advertising! They are not BBB ( Better Business Bureau ) members. read more

Tropical Manor on Daytona Beach is a quaint 1950's hotel that has been lovingly maintained. It's is bright, exceptionally clean with competent staff who go the extra mile to ensure your stay is picture perfect. A comfortable atmosphere of "Andy Griffith's Mayberry" prevails. The landscape is lovely --the rooms are more practical than plush, though very comfortable and home-y. Our large family rents 7 rooms/suites every late Spring and just couldn't be happier with the accommodations here! read more

As one who loves classic cars, the Tropical Manor reminds me of a grand 50's Cadillac, restored to period beauty. The detail of the structures and grounds are alive with color and loving maintenance. See the white statuary around the parking, the orange wall lighting washing the buildings at night, the detailed painting of building, walkways, stairs, gazebos, every nook is a pleasure to the eye. The grand art deco buildings are fine for driving by, but Tropical Manor is for strolling and looking and perhaps take a seat in a gazebo and sit a while. The rooms reflect the hard work of keeping the systems working well. The shower drained, the water was hot, the AC cold. Go. Stay. This is someone's labor of love, dont miss it. read more

If you're looking to take your family on a Florida vacation and you're looking to stay somewhere on the Atlantic then Tropical Manor Motel is the perfect vacation spot. This motel is not a chain motel, instead it is an individually owned motel that has been owned by the same person who started it up now for over 50 years! The place is spectacular! The rooms are easily accessible and no matter where you are on the premises you don't have to walk very far until your at the front door of your room. The front desk and housekeeping are extremely friendly and always looking for a way to make your stay as comfortable as it can possibly be. I have stayed at Tropical Manor now for two years so I know that this kind of hospitality is not a fluke thing. One thing that you may not realize until you are there is that the motel is not very tall. There is only ground level and then a second level which really helps out when it comes to the later part of the day. Some of the giant condominiums that are on the beach are so big that they shade the beach by 3 o'clock. At Tropical Manor this is not an issue. One of the most unique things about this place is that every Thursday night there is music by the pool (weather permitting). During this time a DJ comes and sets up under a gazebo right off of the pool area and plays all kind of music. The music ranges from stuff from the 50s to stuff from the 70s and everyone sits either by the pool or outside their rooms and dances and has a great time. On this night you also get to meet the owner of the motel who comes around to chat with you and see how your stay has been thus far. The motel is extremely coloriful hence Tropical Manor and all of the paintings have been done by the owner herself. As I have said the place is great especially seeing that from your room to the beach is maybe 50 yards. I highly suggest this motel for young families because you don't have to lug your younger kids up and down elevators. I can't wait to go back again in the Spring, this is definitely the best vacation motel I have ever stayed at. I highly recommend that you give it a shot. You won't be disappointed. read more
