I haven't seen anything leave that I'm not glad about and the same goes for the places that open here. Gathershop just opened today and I made sure to celebrate my Christmas holiday by checking out this place as soon as possible. The friendly British owner did a wonderful job with the interior of this place as well as the collection. I loved so much of the things she sells, and the best thing is; I could actually afford it! I bought a lovely ring for only 27 euros which is a great price. There was a lot of cute jewelry but I also loved the art prints and magazines, saw a few cute tote bags and cute kitchen supplies. The upperfloor of the shop is reserved for pop-ups. At the moment 'Rewind Play Fast Forward's vintage collection is available and it suits the rest of the more permanent collection at Gathershop very well. I saw a few very nice items and again, for very reasonable prices. I would really recommend this place if you need gifts for a creative lady friend, or if you want to treat yourself with something nice, but don't want to spent too much money, like at simular style shops in the Negen Straatjes. This shop is just as good and if you're not from this hood gives you a good reason to discover the Van Woustraat a little bit more (because it has so much to offer lately!).

The shop feels like spacious and well arranged. Changing room are nice and clean, easy to access. I do shop there quite often for both the nice casual clothes and the really nice atmosphere!! So one day I just browse the nice stores in 'de negen straatjes' area in Amsterdam and enter the Carhartt Store. First off, the staff was super friendly, non of that typical standoffish behaviour like 'I am better than you' or 'you probably not going to buy anything so I don't think I'll bother'. So that was a nice start. The store is laid out very openly and it's easy to have a complete overview of the range of products they have. After a walk around I noticed a bag that I liked and took it of the shelve and walked around with it a bit to see how it felt carrying it. The sales assistant was very friendly and asked if he could help, perhaps remove the filling from the bag or show me a different colour. I explained that I was browsing around and wasn't ready to make a decision about buying anything that day. No problem. About two weeks later I came back for the bag. Same happy greeting and happy chitchat with the guy on taking care of the store that morning. I told him I had come back for the bag. He had to smile and said something like that once you have had it in your hands, your mind has been made up.... Again very helpful service with a smile and a joke, I love it when people have a sense of humour and dare to use it at their jobs! Again he offered to show me different colours and even pulled out a catalogue to show me models they didn't have in the store but were no trouble to order so I could have a look. My mind, like he had said had been made up the first time I saw the bag, so I opted no to all his offers and proceeded to payment. As a nice surprise the bag turned out to be 10 Euros cheaper than advertised. Though Carhartt is certainly not a cheap store, I believe the workmanship on their products is very nice and quite importantly the sales person made it a joy to part with my money.... Would certainly go back for other stuff (saw this really nice sweater, which I'm sure is out of season by now lol). Also if you find yourself in the 'negen straatjes' area, have take your time to look around, you'll find very nice shops there away from all the huge H&M's and Zara's....

However, I thought that I would yelp about this shop, so you know a few places to hit up if your in the process of cleaning out your closet for the winter, spring, or summer. I was happy to hear from the owner that you get your items back if the clothes are not sold because normally other shops in Haarlem do not return them back. If your going to bring your clothes by here, then make sure that they are in good condition. Also try to avoid brands that fall under Zara, HM and Forever 21.

You won't see colors or textures like this in many other places. In addition to clothing, they carry things for your house (bedspreads, cushions, etc). The bedspreads are fantastic but they cost almost $2000 Euro so I'll just be looking. I think this is a pretty unique store - although stores across the world carry People of the Labyrinths items, I think only in two stores (one in Amsterdam) can you see their entire collection in a single place. What i like about this shop, it does not look like a junk shop, which I often find to be the case in these type of stores that sell secondhand products or electronics. The shop is well maintained, and does not take any junk. FYI to men or women who may possibly be handy with their hands or define themselves as a handyman.
