I've been going to Dr. Balin for well over 2, almost 3 years on and off. The massage therapists there are excellent every time I've gone. I've gotten an excellent massage recently I've been going to John for sports massages and he does an outstanding job, I cannot say the same for Dr. Balin. He rushes you every single appointment, he never checks up on how you're doing how you're feeling, what sort of adjustments you might need, he is always getting you in and rushing you out as fast as possible. He really doesn't care about you even if you've been going for a long time and his adjustments are all the same, they are never adjusted to what you need. It's actually quite comical how little he cares. He gives u the same 5 shitty cracks and says WOW you needed that! 90% of the time after he adjusts my neck I have to finish cracking it myself as he won't even fully crack my neck. It's very disappointing since his massage therapist are so good, however Dr. Balin needs to step his game up and start caring about the people that walk in through that door who are paying a great amount of money to receive a service to better their health. This review is for the Wellness center massage services, NOT Dr. Balin Scott's chiropractor services. I made an appointment for a 90 min massage with Keith. I arrived 15 mins early. My masseuse didn't bring me to the room until a little after 10:30 and my massage did not start until 10:40am. The room was very tranquil but very bright. No darkness at all. The massage was awesome. Keith did a great job with the deep pressure on my back and my calves. Very professional and personable, I liked his work. He does awesome massage on the legs for sure, but he missed my feet! Oh how I wish my feet were massaged :( Most of my tight spots were ironed out and I still feel sore 13 hrs later. My massage ended at 12:00 on the dot. When I was asked by the staff how was everything, I told them Keith was awesome and I was very happy with the services. I hesitated to mention the delayed start time but I knew if I didn't I would regret not saying anything. I told the reception desk I that my start time was delayed about 5-10 mins. I paid for a 90 min massage but I only received 80 mins. The lady said that the start time and getting undressed and talking to the masseuse was all inclusive of the 90 min massage. I've never heard of that. I said okay but I paid for a 90 minute massage. She was adamant so I said okay, if that's how you do it fine. Then she proceeded to try to charge me $5 more since I didn't see the chiropractor, but was so very kind and honored the quote given to me on the phone. I am happy with the massage given by Keith, I completely recommend him for deep tissue or a relaxing massage but I do not think I would go back due to how they charge for their services. I have been going to the Wellness Center for over 3 months now. It first began with Chiropractic and massage to undo painful injury and realign my body. After relocating to Texas and a long lived 3 months in hotels, Dr Balin and staff put me back in working order. I now frequent acupuncture more for holistic health and when needed I have an amazing massage and align my spine when I am out of balance. The staff is great and makes you feel at home. Extremely friendly and the facilities are beautiful. The front office is very helpful with insurance and will process all items for you, which is very helpful. The care is top notch. read more

This place is a beautiful, spa-like chiropractic office that has absolutely nothing to offer anyone with actual back or neck problems. I started going here about a year and a half ago, having no prior experience with chiropractic care, because of near constant neck pain and tightness which gave me regular headaches. I chose The Wellness Center because at that time, they also offered acupuncture, which I was also interested in trying out. Well, I instantly fell in love with acupuncture and the acupuncturist who at *that* time worked at the building next door at The Wellness Centre's sister business, Well Polished. (She has since quit and moved, see my other reviews for her new location!) Dr. Balin was a different story. He wasn't terrible at my initial few appointments, but as soon as I bought a package of 12 adjustments for $400, that's when his feigning of intent to provide me with anything resembling individualized care ended. Have you ever met one of those people who just seems so disingenuous that it sort of makes your skin crawl? That's the feeling I got every time I showed up for an adjustment and Dr. Balin plowed through about 9.4 seconds of very forced, mechanical sounding 'small talk' *while* doing the adjustment (not ever as part of a brief, friendly greeting upon entering the room, since his entrances always came with a jarring sense of urgency and impatience and a near immediate instruction to lay face down, like he really needed to get in and out so he could go snort another line of cocaine in the back room or something. He always seemed super hyper, which was kind of stressful to be around even for just a few seconds.) He has a way of treating his patients like he couldn't care less who they are, or how they've been feeling since their last visit. He never once asked me, even after months of treatment, whether the adjustments had alleviated my symptoms at all. Sometimes he'd ask how my weekend was or something while in the middle of popping my back and I conveniently couldn't really answer, but that was the most interaction he seemed willing to have. If you have a question or concern to run past him before he ducks back into the hallway, you'd better be REALLY quick. Also, it doesn't matter what you enter into the iPad when you sign in about how your pain has shifted, intensified, or otherwise changed since your last visit. In my experience, the treatment approach was always exactly the same each time. I saw no indication that he even reviews that information as it's updated. When Eileen, the acupuncturist, told me she was cutting ties with The Wellness Centre and moving her practice, I immediately found a new chiropractor since I couldn't see myself ever driving to TWC just to seek Dr. Balin's inadequate "care." At my first visit with my new chiropractor, after hearing about my chronic neck pain and frequent headaches, my the doctor gave me an x-ray and showed me that the vertebrae in my neck actually curve in the wrong direction. ONE visit, after wasting months going to Dr. Balin, and she knew what my problem was and how to treat it. I left with something called a Denneroll which I now use at home for a few minutes each day to gradually train my neck to curve in the right direction, and the improvement in my pain has been remarkable. It was only after receiving ACTUAL chiropractic care that I realized just how useless Dr. Balin's practice really is. Fast forward to yesterday. I still had 3 adjustments left on my package at The Wellness Centre, and I was already planning to be next door today for a pedicure at Well Polished, so I figured I'd make an appointment for an adjustment since I'd already paid for it and it was almost too convenient not to. When I called, I was told that my package had "expired" one year after I made the purchase. I responded that at the time I bought the package, no one mentioned to me that it had an expiration date. I asked if it was in writing anywhere, or if I had signed anything stating that I understood that stipulation. The office manager told me no, they only disclose that information to patients verbally, and there was no documentation to indicate that I had been given that information, but that they "always" tell people. I told her that I was absolutely certain no one had verbally indicated that to me, as I would not ever have knowingly purchased 12 adjustments that expired in 12 months. After I refused to budge from my position that the enforcement of a previously undisclosed expiration date was unacceptable, she called me back this morning to let me know that they would allow me to use my three remaining adjustments only as long as they were all used by Feb. 15th (as if I have any need whatsoever for 3 adjustments in 3 weeks). I was so eager to finally just wash my hands of these slimy people by that point that I just told her to forget everything. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

A wonderful chiropractic and wellness center. With many different services they still provide the older school chiropractic adjustment -a blessing as that's been hard to find around here. Dr Balin and their staff are welcoming and care for you. This is not a place that makes you feel like they care more about your money and what financing program you will be on. A beautiful facility. I have had no experience with Dr. Balin himself, rather the front office staff. I made an appointment for a prenatal massage with this office because I frequent Well Polished and like it a lot. Unfortunately my experience was not matched. I drove 30mi to come here and when I arrived, they very rudely turned me away because I was still in my first trimester. Apparently they don't see anyone until their second trimester because of the liability, a detail they forgot to mention to me over the phone. In addition, they lied to me about not receiving paperwork from my midwife, whom I contacted right after. My midwife has a fax delivery notice that they sent over the requested paperwork. I hope you're happy that you made a pregnant woman cry! Never again. read more

Dr. Balin is a good Chiropractor, but he could be great if he ever cared enough or took the time to get to know his patient. Tendency to pre-judge. In and out as fast as possible, 5 minutes maybe. This business sold me $180 in gift cards after showing me a list of services they offer. They included the list of services in the envelope with the gift cards. When my wife decided to use the gift card she was told that half of the services listed were for the business next door and that she could no use the gift card for them. I was in severe pain in my neck and back. The doctors had me almost addicted to pain medications. I finally had enough and I asked people from my church if they knew a chiropractor that was really good and cared about you and not the money. One of the recommended me to The Wellness Centre. I went there for my first visit in horrible pain. When I got there the ladies behind the desk made me feel very welcomed. They sent me to the relaxing room and it was very relaxing and they served me some water and they had apples for you too. After about 20 minutes they put. Me in a room and put electric therapy on me to relax my muscles which by the way felt very good. Then after that was finished they put me in a room to see Dr. Balin. He was very professional but so nice. He adjusted my back and neck and when he was finished I felt like a million dollars. He recommend that I come back because he said my back was very out of line. So I made another appointment to come back. I asked doctor Balin why the doctors do not recommend patients to come see a Chiropractor instead of just pushing pain meds down your throat. I can't say what he said. Anyway I set an appointment to come back in 2 weeks. I came back and this time I got a 30 minute massage by Keith and it was amazing, he is the best massage therapist that I have ever had. He is still my massage therapist today. Then after the 30 minute massage I saw Dr. Balin and he adjusted myn back again. I have been there patient for over 2 years now. I go maybe every 3 to 4 months to get a back adjustment. I can tell you that The Wellness Centre is the best. I would recommend anyone to go there. It will change your life forever. read more
