How to know you are "adulting": - You make your own doctor's appointments - You floss your teeth on the reg - You have a basic understanding of what taxes are - You get your own car insurance policy I recently purchased a car and quickly had to obtain a car insurance policy. Normally, this would not be a problem, but because I am excellent at procrastinating and not-so-excellent at being an adult, I found myself in this situation at around 7PM, on a Friday (yes, I am THAT person). A quick Google search turned up Scott Garvey's team and in a panic, I called and was connected with Jaime Peralta. I was fully expecting to leave a voice message and was surprised and grateful to speak with a live person. Again, this was a Friday evening. Mr. Peralta was incredibly patient and made sure he fully understood my situation. He quickly provided me with the appropriate solutions, took the time to make sure I understood everything, and was also extremely courteous and never made me feel like a burden. He even gave me his personal phone number (as it was now around 9PM) in case the dealership or I needed anything else. The next day, he also sent me an email asking how everything went! By nature, insurance companies and insurance agents are supposed to be there for their clients during difficult times. However, there is a huge difference between simply "being there" and putting your clients first. Overall I really have no complaints with this office because I've been with you guys for a few years and the service has actually been fantastic, but recently I've had an issue where my insurance policy goes down a few bucks every 6 months, it was due to go down in January it didn't happen spoke with an agent she explained a few things to me and said let's wait until my July bill is due and see what happens then, in June I received a letter from this office saying that my insurance would go down in July, but the strangest thing is I had Auto insurance and homeowners insurance so my insurance did go down for the auto but then my homeowners insurance went up and now I pay a little more than I was originally paying before so although I did get a reduction in auto insurance I got an increase in homeowners insurance, my issue is I was informed of the auto insurance reduction why wasn't I informed of the homeowners insurance increase? Call the office garvey's office today spoke with someone not going to mention people by name it was a lady though she informed me of why it went up but at the same time she was a little edgy in her tone of voice so I just ended the call did not hang up on her I just thanked her and I ended the call I just think it's very poor customer service as to not to inform me by email/ phone call or letter that my homeowners insurance increased like you informed me that my auto insurance decreased sketchy sketchy work there. read more

Initially very attentive and excellent follow though with excellent prices to boot. After my policy was written and they had my money however it was all downhill. First I received a letter stating that they couldn't verify a valid drivers license ( it was very valid, not expiring for several months and I have a clean driving record). This took almost a week and 3 follow up calls on my part. Then my automatic withdrawal expired and I received no notification. When I called to update my address I found out that my policy had been cancelled. I have gotten no emails or phone calls to notify me and when I called I was able to reinstate my policy but am now facing a laps of insurance and facing fines from the mva. Im shocked by the lack of follow up post singing my policy and all the problems and hassle. Can't wait to find a new agent!!!! read more

I used them for 5 years after moving to Baltimore for law school. At first, the company was great - attentive, worked to negotiate lower premiums for me, helped me evaluate what coverage I needed, etc. Over time, however, my premiums began to creep up and they started making mistakes on my policy - for instance, they cancelled my PIP coverage without my knowledge or my consent (which is required in Maryland in order to waive it!) They filed my payments incorrectly, at one point threatened to cancel my coverage because my payments had been applied incorrectly, and over-charged me for almost a year after I moved from Baltimore. During this experience I had an incredibly unpleasant interaction with the office manager who proceeded to accidentally CC me on an vulgar email regarding me. When I brought this to an agent's attention, I was informed "these things happen." After 13 years with State Farm; this group convinced me to switch to Geico. read more

I've been with this agency close to 10 years, with various insurance policies. BEFORE I purchased my waterfront home I reached out to this agent's office for quotes, as i was advised to by my lender so i can get an estimate for insurance, and to be prepared for what flood insurance would look like, if applicable. I was advised by Carlos at this office this is not in a FEMA flood zone and therefor SF cannot provide flood insurance, however they could insure my home. I received my quote from Carlos and passed info to my lender. My lender had been in communcation with this office for over 3 weeks-month, my insurance policy was issued, then the DAY BEFORE settlement SF underwriting denied and cancelled my insurance with no notification to me, I had to hear it from my lender. Due to the irrisponsible actions of this agency, dragging their feet on paperwork submittal, no communication directly with me- their client, and less than 8 business hrs hours notice my policy was cancelled and my settlement has been delayed by 3-4 days, putting myself and 5 other business parties on hold and scrambling for a new policy so I can settle on my new home. I am losing money, time and had to reschedule all of my delivieries for the new home due to Scott Garvey's State Farm negligent business practices. This is what i receive after 10 years of loyal service - be warned if this is what happens to a longtime customer, what could potentially happen as a new customer with State Farm. read more
