My in-laws retained Weissler Law Group in March 2024 under a written Attorney-Client Fee Contract…read more The contract promised a Medi-Cal Planning Trust, revised estate planning documents, and the preparation of California deeds as needed, including the transfer of their Los Angeles residence into the trust. Before signing, my in-laws completed Weissler's intake questionnaire. It disclosed how much Social Security they were receiving. This was already above Medi-Cal's income limits, raising questions about whether the planning approach discussed was viable. Despite this, Joel gave verbal assurances that he would help them apply for Medi-Cal. In March of 2024, my in-laws signed an Attorney-Client Fee Contract, paying $8,000 for the above package of services. In January 2025, Joel confirmed by email that the California home would be transferred later, after resolving a "compensation change," but as of September 2025, this transfer still has not been completed. Verbal Assurances: In addition to Medi-Cal application assistance, Joel agreed to help with related planning items; however, those assurances were not fulfilled. Summary: After 18 months, the Los Angeles home remains outside the trust despite the contract's inclusion of California deeds. The firm also assured assistance with Medi-Cal applications, despite the intake form disclosing income above the eligibility limits. While some documents were drafted, some critical deliverables remain unfulfilled even until today. It is now September 2025 as of this review.
