I've been seeing Dr Hernandez since I first moved to Central Florida in 2011. She takes time to go over your tests and explain how the results impact your health and then provides you the necessary treatment. Something I appreciate is not having to wait too long once you've checked in. I say this because with many other medical providers you make an appointment and then you have to wait so long to be calls once you're there which makes no sense to me whatsoever. So kudos to them on this! I've also been treated by Sarah Army the PA for Dr. Hernandez when she is not available and she as well provides excellent medical attention. Although I tried seeing a new doctor because I moved from the Orlando area, I decided to come back to SW Internal because I had a hard time finding a medical provider with such high standards as Dr Hernandez and her staff. They…read morecanceled my appointment and I was on hold for a total of 32 minutes , I got there while still on hold and placed the phone on speaker so that they can see that I'm still on hold . Four ladies were present and on their computer and I told them I was placed on hold for a total of 32 minutes and none of them had patients in front of them to justify keeping me on hold , it was intentional on their behalf . The call would ring and placed me back on hold , I hung up and called back and a voice quickly said " please hold " and it was done more than once . Office manager showed up and as I was trying to explain the situation, needless to say , she gave me a clipboard and walked of , very dismissive with zero interest in what I wanted to communicate, which was my frustration due to their lack of customer service skills. I can see why the ladies at the front showed no interest in picking up the phone after placing me on hold repeatedly. I'm currently seeking a primary care and you guessed it, after telling them that I would , they simply carried on with their day . As a long time attorney, who works with physicians as part of my practice (not family physicians), I have dealt with a large number of doctors in many specialities. I consider my doctor, Dr. Gordon, the best of the bunch and I know that Orlando Magazine has recognized him as one of the best in the metro area as well. I am more than pleased with my PCP (Dr. Pattanayak) at MetroHealth and I am confident in the care…read moreand recommendations she provides in relation to my overall health. Her staff is friendly and professional. However, attempting to get a referral approved to be seen/treated by a Specialist is a arduous task. Her referral staff (with the exception of Christina) is either overwhelmed or not qualified to handle the workload. There has been more than one occasion that I arrived at my Specialist appointment to find out that the referral requested a month prior still was not approved. As a patient with multiple chronic conditions which require treatment by Specialists this is unacceptable.
