The director and the teachers truly love their job. Prior to Covid, I was able to come into the center and nurse my baby. I saw firsthand how well the infant teachers handled their kids. They were all held and attended to as if they were their own. We now have two kids in this center. Their Covid precautions are strict, but we feel safe and clean here. My toddler son is learning so much at the discovery preschool level, much more than I would have been able to expose him to. It truly is like a play based school before school. Only cons are high teacher turnover, but this is common in other daycares from what I hear.

I witness on 3 different occasions a less than ideal tone used with my toddler. I also witness him being off on his own on one occasion very sad. I asked him what was wrong and he said he felt alone because the kid had taken a toy from him. Meanwhile the teacher was on his cell phone (Seen a lot of that when picking up my toddler). At 1st I didn't say anything as I am overprotective of my child, but his other parent went to stop by mid day with some lunch and over heard the teacher using that same tone. Immediately we had a group meeting and the teacher apologized and stated that she was a bit stressed due to a behavioral health child acting out in class, and she took it out on my toddler and the other children, I am still wondering what that had to do with my child?!?? Or why this teacher wasn't given some assistance. I also asked how many times does this happen, as the director continued to use the behavioral child as an excuse to the behavior of the staff. My child was removed immediately. Nothing is worth my child's well being. These teachers and directors need to meet these children where they are. If they are in need or talking you should bend down to their eye level to console them or understand them so you can assist them with care. My son said he was scared to go into the school on his 2nd day. I assumed he was hesitant with a new place and would adjust. I was wrong!!!!! I feel like I also failed my choke because if I had listens to him after day 1, I should have save him the exposure of mental, emotional and verbal abuse!!! i beg any parent that loves their child not to drop them off at Scott swamp RX in Farmington ct.

The school is clean, safe and provides many activities for the children's development. We have worked primarily with Miss Tia, Miss Denise and Miss Tanya who have been absolutely wonderful and caring. The teachers and directors were always super sweet to us. But when my younger son was 2 years old the school had no idea how to handle age appropriate negative behaviors. Some 2 year olds can be challenging but instead of trying to help, they instead tried everything to get us to leave the school and transfer him out. I would pick him up every day and his diaper and pants would be soaked and I would ask "how come no one changed him?" And consistently I would get the answer "he refused." Ummm a 2 year old refused to change their diaper and you are ok with that? Same thing with food. He would not be given his lunch but everything was thrown out daily. Their attitude towards us changed completely. No more sweet, helpful teachers and directors. It was just a very uncaring situation when a child becomes a little challenging. But if your child follows all their rules and never gives any problem (like my older one), they will do fine. We switched my younger one to Joni's down the street (I was hesitant because the building was older and cramped and I hadn't known much about that school). But I am so thankful for the switch. He did amazing and he thrived there with their love.

BUT, YMCA is the gym facing to family, almost EVERY TIME you can meet HORRIBLE NOISE persons, they come for talking, not for exercise, they are keeping talking mixing with horrible laughing all the time, they are doing just like at their own house, is not in public place, without any care about any others. You still can hear their horrible noise even you are using headphone. What a wonderful home education they got, as noise as 500 sparrows around you.

Taken from their website, "To ensure safety and comfort for all, we ask members to always act…read moreappropriately during training. Any inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated..." The Southington branch of the YMCA violated their very own oath from a trainer (NR) to the Health and Wellness Director (JM) and up to the Branch Executive Director (JJ). As a longtime member of the Southington branch of the YMCA I am both saddened and disgusted. I had participated in their Strength Training class for several years but have been increasingly disappointed with NR mostly because she treats this class as HER time to engage in personal conversation with her friends in the class. Also, I noticed that she would often ignore me and send me clear across the weight room away from her group of friends. Then, a new member (EB) joined this class and eventually EB succeeded in not only ostracizing me even further from the group but began to bully me. The bullying included yelling at me, becoming argumentative and confrontational, treating the weight room as if it belonged to her and not me but most of all she succeeded in turning the other class members against me. I took my concerns to NR on three separate occasions to no avail. So, I then went to the Health and Wellness Director (JM). Previously, I had several positive encounters with JM (she always had a sympathetic ear) as I've been navigating a broken back due to cancer as well as dealing with my daughter's cancer diagnosis. Then... NOTHING. I firmly believe that NR gave her a pack of lies. So, I took my concerns to the Branch Executive Directo (JJ). Then... NOTHING. Again, I believe there were more lies from NR. I now belong to Big Sky and can't believe I didn't move sooner! Big Sky is everything the YMCA Southing branch is NOT! The facility is clean and pristine with a massive amount of equipment and staffed with amazing and professional people. The members are courteous, respectful, helpful and quietly go about exercising. The trainers never talk about their kids, vacations etc. like NR did in every single class. I spoke to the trainers about my horrifying experience with NR and the trainers all said the same thing - that NR acted extremely unprofessional and likely felt intimidated and threatened by me because I'm a serious weight lifter. If you read to the end I thank you!

Ultimately, it was clear…read moreto us, from the way our children took to their class, or didn't, that this was a poor fit. Overheard staff complaining about short lunch breaks at hours that made no sense to avoid staffing shortage, overheard a teacher tell a child to stop crying, that he was faking it. I hate to knock a place that someone might like. If we had no other option in the world and literally no one could take care of our kids, fine, we'd go, temporarily. However, we ended up at a different daycare and we are much more at peace with that decision. Unhappy teachers made this place feel like a holding pen for toddlers instead of a place of early childhood education.

My husband and I took lots of time researching and visiting many different facilities. I had almost given up and then I met with Moriah ( the asst..director). From that moment of meeting her and touring the facilities and hearing about their extensive program I knew that I had found the most perfect place. If I couldn't be home with my daughter full time EPC was the only place I felt as ease sending her. Once my daughter started attending I really got to know the teachers. They are so accommodating to YOUR child's schedule. My daughter is now 9 months old and I couldn't be happier with her growth there. I have no doubt that EPC is the BEST!!

Before finding Mrs. Yelena we visited multiple day care centers, we never liked the place, the people or simply we did not feel comfortable with the setting. (As first time parents we were nervous). When we first visited Mrs. Yelena we knew, we knew right away, we had found a place where our daughter could play, learn and grow. It felt like, and it is for our daughter, a home away from home. The small group really allows Mrs. Yelena to focus on the kids and their growth, our daughter, learned to clean up after herself, snack time and sharing, gave up the diaper, started napping (she only naps during the week, not on weekends), playing with other kids, climbing, painting, snow, new songs, English! She started singing all out and expressing herself in so many creative new ways. Every so often you meet people that have found their calling, when you meet Mrs. Yelena you can tell she is doing what she loves to do. She is a great educator, with so much warmth and kindness. Every single day the kids are playing with something new to stimulate a new sense, or new songs, or planting trees. A beautiful place and environment for kids to grow in. I highly recommend Mrs. Yelena's Educational place in West Hartford and Mrs. Yelena, if anything everyone who cares about their kids should visit her place to see what a loving and nurturing environment looks like.
