Needed my evaporator core replaced on my 2012 Ram. Spoke with Scotty on 6/11, he quoted me the fairest estimate with the soonest completion date after calling multiple other shops in town! Dropped my Truck off on 6/12 and got it back on 6/14! So I called Scotty's Auto repair and spoke with Scotty a few days in advance to have my head lights worked on. He asked if I could leave the car there on Friday so I told him yes and moved my schedule around work so that I could drop off the vehicle and then get a ride to work. I get there to drop the car off at 7:30 the time said he'd be there.. He was not there. I left the car unlocked and the keys inside and texted him to let him know. I also asked him to keep me updated. I called twice throughout my workday and received no answer. I showed up at the end of my workday to pick up my car and pay for the services and it didn't get touched. Complete waste of my time. I'm never coming back. I don't recommend this shop to anyone unless you're ok with lack of communication and work not being done. read more

Short version: Scotty's Auto Repair is a inexpensive auto repair that's convenient, a good price, and best of all, run by someone who really knows what he's doing. Scotty is very responsive to calls and texts, and responded within a few minutes every time. The shop is in a good location with plenty of parking too, literally right off the main freeway. He even checked and topped off my tires to get me ready for the trip back to San Diego. This kind of mechanic is sadly, a dying breed. Long version: I was driving from San Diego to San Francisco, when my worst nightmare happened. My car broke down about 70mi from Bakersfield, in what was essentially the middle of nowhere. My oil pan had 1 inch hole, cut by a piece of debris in the road. After calling AAA roadside premier, which put me in a rental and asked me where to tow my car, I asked them to tow it into town, Bakersfield, while I drove off to San Fran. I called a couple places, and most were either closed on Saturday or didn't have the time, or were way too expensive. I called Scotty's auto repair on Friday afternoon, and he was very helpful. When I mentioned I broke down while traveling and got stranded, he said he was able to squeeze me in on Saturday morning. This may not be that fast for everyone, as they seem to have lots of regular/long term clients, looking at other reviews. We discussed price and parts, and that was that. The next morning, I arrived in Bakersfield at 4am, hung out in the rental until thing opened, grabbed the parts, and headed to the shop. He was able to do the repair for a great price, and he charged a great price for the parts he did provide (Sealent, oil, many other shops overcharge). Within 3 hours of dropping it off, it was done, ran, tested, checked, and ready to go! Will I ever go back? Well, I don't live in Bakersfield, so HOPEFULLY not haha, but let's just Say I was lucky I broke down close to here. Oh, and if you have a AAA card, it's AAA certified shop, so if you tell him you have a AAA card, they might give a discount. Not sure about how AAA works though. read more

I have been going to Scotty's for years. I always thought I was getting good work for a fair price. But I just bought a vehicle that needed some work. The A/C wasn't working, and other things needed service. I asked Scott to check it out and he gave me some prices. All of the repairs were expensive. The A/C never worked after two visits he still didnt fix it. The most expensive was the Stabilitrak. Scott wanted 1200 to fix it. I decided to get a second opinion from another mechanic recommended to me. The new mechanic fixed it by just adding brake fluid a $20 repair. I would never trust Scotty's Auto Repair again. read more

I have taken two of my vehicles to Scotty ( a 2005 Dodge one ton and a 2014 half ton). He was quick and professional with the Dodge and the same with my Tundra. Most of the time he does everything himself, because it's hard to find reliable and knowledgeable people as employees. He saved me money on parts as well. I will take any of my vehicles to him again because he is an honest, hardworking mechanic who gets the job done right the first time and promptly, which is kind of rare in his line of work. read more

Originally took my vehicle in to get the check engine light figured out. Then got the item fixed and then a leak occurred because of a faulty piece from the factory. Had another issue arise and took it back. Scott took care of all my issues and responded when I had question. He's a nice and patient guy. Would recommend. read more

My daughter suggested I take my truck to Scotty; as she had prior work done at his shop and said she trusted him and that he was honest. I needed AC work and Scotty's estimate was far less expensive for the same work than another shop had quoted me. I was a drop in and Scotty accommodated my truck the same day. Scotty was professional, provided me with a written estimate and explained what I needed. I also asked Scotty if he could inspect my vehicle and he agreed to inspect the vehicle and did not charge me for this service. Scotty advised he sees that there is a leak and pointed out the area that had oil accumulation and wet looking. He quoted me a price in writing on the leak but it was much more than I could afford. Scotty discussed options with me. I did go to the dealer and they too advised of the leak and quoted a price SUBSTANTIALLY more for the same work than Scotty. I would go back to Scotty for the leak repair. I had to come back the next day for the AC job because the part I needed for the AC was not available immediately. Scotty fixed the AC problem and I was happy with Scotty's work. I do recommend Scotty to others who want good prices and a mechanic, not just to be "the next person in line with your vehicle". We were on a long trip that had seen us drive from Las Vegas to Northern California and then as we were leaving Cali..My very loved 2002 Suzuki Xl7 finally pooped out ( It was pulling a Uhaul trailer for the first time ever) Lots of maintenance had already been done and we had just purchased a hitch for close to $400. So all in all we had spent thousands getting ready for our cross country trip that would see us in Florida..To our bad luck we only made it to Bakersfield from Sacramento. We were at a gas station looking for a mechanic but most were closed...Although it was Saturday. They completely stand behind all there work and we now have a wonderful warranty!! They got us right in and were very kind and informative! They went above and beyond and also told of us some other things that need attention as well! He also did not charge me as much as he quoted and that dosnt happen much anymore!! Scotties agreed to do a brake job with me providing parts, when I arrived the man in charge, Scottie I guess, told me it was going to be awhile before he got to me which was fine then asked where I got the parts and had an attitude about me providing parts?? Seemed like he didn't want to do the job so I left, poor customer service not very friendly! Went down the street to Cimentals. Excellent service and work for better price with friendly faces. We brought my daughter's car her to have the air conditioner repaired. He was much cheaper and far more thorough when diagnosing than several other competitors. Our bill was accidentally charged twice. The owner was very quick to issue a refund, which meant I did not have to hassle with the bank.
