The dreaded check engine light was on. They offered $85 for a diagnosis. Before the diagnosis was finished, they walked into their waiting room and told me the cost would likely be high - $700 to fix it. If we stop before they finish the diagnosis, they will not charge anything. Since I have already been to another place that told me it would be over $700 and Overtime was recommended by another shop, I said go ahead. The two parts were $595 and needed to be Toyota. The repair would be an hour to an hour and a half. I verified this with another shop and online. The total cost was $723. They do guarantee both labor and parts. They did a great job. Be aware that they charge 4% extra for using a credit card. Overall, they did a great job and even worked through their lunch. read more

Please do not take your car here if you don't know anything about fixing car! we strongly believe that the mechanic at Over-Time did not secured the radiator cap property and was negligent in their work. We brought in our Honda for an oil change, transmission fluid flush and check up. Emiliano said he also performed a pressure test on our car to look for leaks. In the same afternoon, we took our car to LA and 80 miles out, the engine over heated and there was smoke and fluid everywhere. We pulled over immediately, opened up the hood and the cap for the radiator had fallen off. We called the shop to get support but after the 2nd call during his business hours, he did not picked up our call anymore and left us stranded. We were on Freeway 5 during rush hours and needed help. AAA came by later and did not notice anything else wrong except the problem mentioned above and towed our car an auto part store nearby. We refilled the coolant and replaced the radiator cap and were able to get to our destination safely. AAA tow driver and other mechanics confirmed the issue we suspected. We have incurred unnecessary costs, loss of time and were put in unsafe conditions! Do use go to this mechanics shop. read more

Went to go get work done on rack and pinion and power steering pump, when I got the car back I found a wrench inside the hood and the cap completely off. Two months pass by and started having very serious issues with steering that it made the car dangerous to drive. Went to go get it checked out somewhere else, come to find out that they didn't even install it right nor didn't even mind to tighten the bolts. When called out on their shitty job one of the mechanics started threatening us. which is very childish and unprofessional. My check engine light just randomly came on while driving to work and I noticed that whenever i went over 60mph my car would stutter so i was recommended to go to Bakersfield Automotive because they do honest work. I was initially told that for the diagnosis and to fix it would be $250. When I came to pick the car up after they finished the work my total balance was $325. The issue was my ignition coil and a faulty spark plug. They replaced all the sparks plus and I can honestly say the car runs great. NOT A FEMALE FRIENDLY SHOP. I came here because I'm having a cylinder 3 misfire in my car. They wanted to charge me for a diagnosis, to take the manifold off, a tune up, the spark plugs, and coils (if the spark plugs and the coils were the problem.) Ok, so I ask the receptionist for a quote for all of the services my car may potentially need, and he just gives me a quote for just the spark plugs. I asked him where the quotes were for all the other services and he talks down to me and says "well you're just not grasping what I'm saying." I guarantee if my 6'2 350 lb Caucasian dad would be in my place, the receptionist wouldn't have spoken to him like that. But apparently because I'm a brown female I don't "grasp" the things he was telling me. I very much do understand what he was telling me. I usually work on cars myself and know how to change out these parts, but it's hot out and would rather take it to a shop. I wanted a quote so I could see what I'm potentially looking to pay if I needed the services done but they couldn't even do that because I guess to them I just wouldn't understand. read more
