I have done business with Kyle and Kari of Arroyo Estate Sales for nearly five years, from buyouts…read moreto full estate sales. I also began attending many of the sales they run because they are always well marketed and thoughtfully executed. Both Kyle and Kari are incredibly knowledgeable, each bringing their own areas of expertise. Together, they have a deep understanding of a wide range of items and are exceptionally well suited to maximize the value of an estate. They also operate with a high level of integrity and run a very tight ship, which I have always appreciated. In all the business we have done together over the years, I have only had positive experiences and would absolutely recommend them. They consistently go above and beyond for their clients, which is something you do not see often.

They have done - to date - five sales for me and have done a stellar job. I am really happy with the end result and they paid me promptly. They are well-versed re: value in so many areas and research items to maximize the selling price, did unbelievably effective social media posts to promote the sales and are hands down - really good at what they do! Can you tell I was happy with my experience?

Penny has been absolutely great! After consulting with…read moreseveral estate sales agents, I learned that the standard charge is 40% and it takes up to four weeks to put on a professional estate sale. So no. I didn't get to use her expertise as our estate sales agent, but she gave us some great valuable information on putting on our own estate sales. I used the estate sales links she suggested and they brought in people from great distances. Our signage brought a great crowd too. BUT!!! I highly recommend --- DON'T DO IT YOURSELF!!!! I was pressed to remove the contents of my mother's home much sooner than a professional sales would complete a sale. Yet, I will never let this time pressure control the issue again! Penny's expertise expands all levels! She advertises. Completes signage. Provides adequate pricing. And knows about crowd management, which we came short handed at one point. She's knowledgable in antiques, vintage, jewelry, and coin. Through this personal experience, trying to dispose of my mother's estate, I confirmed Penny's estimates (which seemed low) on what to sell my mother's very high quality items, and yet I still didn't get that value. So, don't be disappointed that your loved ones antiques and such don't sell at your high expectations. People just aren't buying it!!! Penny also passed my impression as a good honest person. Who else would help out in so many ways? Hiring an estate sales person is worth the cost all the way!! So why not hire someone like Penny and Pig Estate Sales? HIRE PENNY!!!

My sister and I recently hired Hughes Estate Sales in Altadena to liquidate my Uncles' beautiful…read morehome in Los Angeles, after he and his spouse died. It was full of gorgeous collections of mercury glass, majolica, fine art work and paintings and other unique and beautiful items collected over a 60 year life span together. We chose Hughes after the painful process of going through the loss of our loved ones, researching different estate sales companies and ways of selling everything. It was a painful process to say the least. And we knew we couldn't handle it ourselves. It was too huge an undertaking, and with so many beautiful things we were very aware of the possible value they could bring. We also had a limited time as the house had already sold. One of our Uncle's prized possessions was a 1964 Morgan in beautiful and original mint condition. Hughes sent us their Vehicle Specialist Sam Alam. Sam was exceptionally helpful, polite, and incredibly knowledgeable about collector cars. He had it carefully towed to his mechanic who knows and works on such cars, to see what it needed and advised us on how to proceed. Fortunately it needed very little but advised us it was worth doing. So we did whatever he suggested. Others showed interest in it, but did not want to pay what it was worth. Dealing with such cars, especially if you know little about them, you can get easily taken advantage of. We did not regret it. It was sold very quickly and at top dollar even with the commission he got. We had researched it ourselves and knew what it might be worth, but didn't know if we could get it, or how to find an appropriate buyer. Sam took care of all of that for us, and working with him was pleasurable, easy and efficient. We had total confidence in him. We highly recommend Hughes Estate Sales for the often painful job of liquidating any home, especially if there are valuable collectibles. They have an amazing research team for pricing valuables. It was a very painful process for us, and we learned that you will not get the full value for everything, because they have to liquidate quickly and whatever doesn't sell the first day, the prices get cut in half. Special items may be sent to auction or put in their showroom and may not be sold as quickly. But we were happy with the results for the most part. It was hard to learn that certain antiques that had great value at one time, had lost much of their value, because things go in and out of fashion. Our other choice would have been to ship everything up to San Francisco, find a large storage unit, and sell on eBay for the rest of our lives. That was not worth it for us. But if you have a special vehicle, Sam Alam is your man.

These people are actually out of their minds. As an avid antique and vintage collector who attends multiple estate sales, garage sales and thrift stores hundreds of times per year. I've never run into such egregiously embarrassingly over the top pricing as at this estate sale. They literally had a framed tear out from a magazine which was stained and was literally just old. Nothing special about it and they wanted $50 for it and the pricing just got worse from there. I actually asked the name of the company to leave them this review because they need to understand that what they are doing isn't fair pricing or getting the best price for their clients. It's literally wasting everybody's time. I will never attend another estate sale if I know this company is in charge of it because I know there won't be anything worth even looking at because everything is priced five times what it's worth. As a note, I am not a reseller. I just like to collect and I'm willing to pay for something if it's worth the price but I'm not gonna pay $60 for a cracked water pitcher because it's from the 60s. I wonder if these people even understand how to correctly price vintage items because I think they just put the highest price they can think of and it actually has nothing to do with the value of the pieces. There was nothing there that had a brand on it that would make it anywhere near the pricing they were asking and yet everything was five times what it should've been. If you have valuable items that are worth money, find a professional reputable company that actually knows the value of things and have them host your estate sale. People just arbitrarily, putting insanely high prices doesn't mean that they know what they are doing or that they are helping their clients make money. You're gonna end up with a house full of junk with embarrassingly high price tags and that's about it.
