Scrape the plate is a fantastic catering company! Diane and Scott were so easy to get in contact with and gave great advice to help plan our wedding day! We had 3 different heavy appetizer stations guests could walk around and mingle, which I loved. The heavy appetizers are truly large enough to fill you up as if you had a sit down meal. Everyone who attended was raving about the food, especially the mac n cheese and I personally loved the pulled pork tacos. The desserts were also amazing. The malted brownie bites were perfection. They have an option to drop off alcohol the day before and then they brought all the alcohol with them when they brought the food. Scrape the Plate catered our 100-person wedding reception in July and I would recommend them, whole-heartedly, to anyone looking to cater an event. Scott and Diane made us feel like VIPs, from our very first contact with them, to our initial tasting, to every contact with them as we worked through COVID-related rescheduling, to our final meeting. They said "yes" to all the random ideas we brought to them for our stations menu and they delivered on the quality. The food was absolutely delicious and we received so many compliments from our guests (do not miss their smoked gouda mac and cheese). The event staff was attentive, professional, and efficient. Weddings are an insane thing in so many facets. You plan it for several months ahead, have guests from all over the country fly in for it, and in the end it's a frenzied five or six hours, a total blast and one of those moments you need a lot of trustworthy folks around you. Speaking of trustworthy folks, Scrape the Plate.. Go ahead and contact them and come back to this review, I'll just hang out here. ... ... Scott and crew were an absolute joy to work with, from step one in the process. They invited my fiancée and I in for a tasting and a custom fall menu and we were floored from the get-go. I was so floored that I actually became concerned that this would be well beyond our potential budget for food. They were able to work with us, pull a few items here and there and make it fit the way we wanted. One thing that hooked us was that the ingredients were extremely fresh, many coming from local farms around the city. Not only is their food of good quality, the presentation and process are extremely professional which is really important. On the day of the wedding, the caterers rolled their fleet in on time, and while I was enjoying myself and not paying too much attention to the little details, it seemed like they set up quickly and efficiently. If any Scrape the Plate folk read this, consider it my public apology for one moment of the wedding - my bride and I went to sit down for dinner and we didn't have dinner, nor chairs! I was suddenly SO pissed off because everyone was looking at us thinking we had a speech, a toast or a blessing to say (um, we didn't!) and it made for an awkward moment. Anyways, I went to our extremely friendly server and snapped something fierce about where in the holy hell are our chairs, food, etc. and he fixed it right away. The only thing is, he didn't need to 'fix it,' it was our fault. We forgot to set ourselves table placements! I feel terrible for being an ass, it definitely wasn't their fault. The food came out well, everyone raved about it and they helped cut our cake for us as well. Loved every part of Scrape the Plate and would use them for ANYTHING going forward - just a great experience all around. read more

I cannot recommend Scrape the Plate highly enough! We had an 18 month engagement, so the time between our first contact with them and the wedding itself was quite a while. Having said that, I always felt like Scott and Diane were tracking on everything we wanted/needed and I knew we were in good hands. They were patient and responsive throughout the entire process and willing to accommodate our many quirks and requests. I have Celiac, so we wanted (almost) the entire menu to be gluten free. I felt completely comfortable from the get-go that they would be able to do this without any problem and that the food would still be amazing - and it was! We also ran into a little bit of an issue with our venue over our bar. We realized pretty late in the game that we were being provided bartenders but not any items to furnish the bar. Despite us not using their staff as bartenders, Scrape the Plate stepped in, no questions asked, and gave us everything we needed to make and serve drinks. The flexibility and kindness of Scott and Diane really made the experience for us. The food was wonderful and we received a ton of compliments from our guests, but it felt even better to be so well taken care of by them. We could not be more appreciative! read more

My son and his wife got married yesterday and Scrape the Plate did the catering. The service was next level and so was the food. Nefore the reception (after the ceremony) was a cocktail hour and served along with the cocktails were meatballs with a white sauce that were amazing. Another snack set around at the high too tables were seasoned cashews and when I tried them they were so flavorful. I asked my husband what they tasted like before I tried them and he said they taste like Thanksgiving...he was right! They were so good. There was a sprig of rosemary garnishing each bowl, but I'm guessing there were more herbs as well. My son and his wife chose a taco bar and it was not your Mamas taco bar foe sure! Their was pork and chicken fillings as well as a veggie options (for the vegan guests) all with soft shells to build and onions, cilantro and hot sauce. Flavored rice and salad with a really flavorful dressing on the side rounded out the meal. I was super impressed that the wedding party not only ate first but the servers actually brought their plates to them so they did not have to get back up. They also brought them the cocktail hour meatballs and herbed cashews in case they did not get any earlier. The service throughout wad top notch. Very pleased mama of the groom here! read more

We cannot say enough good things about the rehearsal dinner that Scrape the Plate catered for us. From my first interaction with Diane to the actual day of the event their entire event staff was professional and great to work with. We received so many positive comments about the food, especially the smoked Gouda Mac & cheese and chicken pot pie. We have a couple of people in our family with food allergies and they did a great job accommodating for them as their food was amazing as well. The food at the reception was amazing! We had a buffet with 280 people. The food quality was that of a 5 star restaurant. Scott, the chef, and Diane, the coordinator, were amazing to work with from start to finish. Scott was so accommodating about allowing us to taste all the items were interested in and gave great advice on selecting the final menu. Unbeknownst to us, we encountered some issues with our venue the day of the event which set Diane back. She took it upon herself to make sure everything was perfect by reception time, even though it meant a lot of extra work by her and her team to make it happen. Sometimes you need to feed 150 people. When this happens, might I recommend not doing it yourself and instead hiring a caterer? And while I'm at it, might I recommend the fine people at Scrape the Plate! In case you hadn't heard: Weddings are just stupid expensive! Seeing as we were paying for ours all by ourselves, we needed to find a balance between a classy, memorable evening and a cost effective one. Scott at Scrape the Plate made this incredibly easy for us, putting together a proposal for one heck of a spread at a reasonable price. At our first meeting we met at his office/kitchen and he had prepared a small variety of his greatest hits. Oh, and he also included ample pours of wine, which is probably the best way ever to gain my affection and loyalty. Fortunately, he also could fall back on the fact that he really wowed us with some delicious bites while whisking away those we didn't like, as if they had never existed. Truth be told, after that first meeting we were prepared to go with Scrape the Plate, it was just a matter of hammering out a selection of heavy hors d'oeuvres that would please both us and our party. We ended up with an impressive spread that made the omnivores happy while still throwing a bone (ha!) to the vegetarians/vegans/gluten free. He provided a professional and attractive staff, anticipated a number of needs that I would have overlooked, and made sure that everything went seamlessly. He was easy to contact and quick to respond, and worked well with the baker of our wedding cake and our day-of coordinator. He's a fantastic, responsible businessman. The absolute cherry on top: On the day of the event, we had one heck of a cold snap. Scott calls us up and says that he's guessing that our guests might enjoy an additional hot option, so he'd like to throw in a 2nd variety of meatball pops, on the house. Who just gives away delicious food? Awesome people, that's who! If you're hosting an event, and you're not having Scrape the Plate cater... well, sucks to be you, because they're the best! read more

Scrape the Plate has opened my eyes to the awesomeness that is good catering, which is good for other caterers and bad for other caterers. Good because I realize that it's worth it to pay for the ease of setup/food at a party if you have the right caterer. Bad because I will most likely always call Scrape first and Scott's so accommodating that I won't have to look anywhere else. The food is Ah. Mazing. I challenge you to read their menu without salivating. My mother still raves about the butternut squash soup we had at our rehearsal dinner... that was five months ago. Scott is ridiculously even-keeled, so setup and tear-down were just simple, streamlined affairs. As a crazy DIY bride at the time, I was amazed at how little I had to do - nothing. It was such a foreign, and beautiful realization! TL, DR - Memorable mastication; stellar staff; simple set-up. Worry about the rest of your event while StP takes care of the food. read more

Took a chance on Scrape the Plate caterers. Thank goodness I did! This is an amazing company. From my first contact , I was treated so well and always had prompt responses. Never felt like I was adrift. We had a marriage celebration open house in our home. Diane and her team were so easy to work with. The food was delicious. All of it. Katie was the lead set up person and she and her partner showed up on time and had everything arranged perfectly. I did not have to worry about a thing. Scott recently catered a Thanksgiving meal for more than 40 of us. I LOVE Thanksgiving, so wondered how having it catered would change the feel of the meal and day. Turns out, with the right caterer, it doesn't change it at all. Scott was amazing. Everything was delish (my fave was the mashed potatoes made with three kinds, including sweet potato!), from the turkey to the stuffing to the dessert. Scott is also super nice, charged extremely reasonable rates and even cleaned up the kitchen before leaving. All of us raved all weekend about him, regretting that we didn't ask him to stay and eat with us! read more

Scrape the Plate is the best that wedding catering can get. It's beyond wonderful. We tried several companies before meeting Scott at Scrape and once we tried one bite of the food, we were hooked. The food is well thought out and Scott is a dream to work with. He makes the process simple and has great ideas for how to make your event perfect. We got the chicken marsala in light cream sauce, beef brisket, trinity of smashed potatoes, spring salad and zucchini medley. We also had Scott make our cutting cake - the strawberry lemonade was insanely good. Everyone commented that the food was wonderful and they had never had such good wedding food. It's great to hear that because while spending so much money to feed people you want the food to be GOOD. Scrape exceeded our expectations and the food was GREAT. After our tasting we knew it would be and were happy our guests felt the same way. Scrape also provided bartending services so it made our life easy to do a one stop shop for all of our needs. Scrape made the process seamless and I can't speak highly enough of the quality and Scott's approach to food. From the taste test through the stages of budget adjustments and the final results (the wedding reception) I cannot say enough good things about Scrape the Plate!! Scott prepared a taste test for the bride, groom and myself. I knew after our first meeting/taste that we would be using Scrape the Plate to cater the wedding reception...without any hesitation. For anyone who has planned a wedding you already know the many ups and downs....excitement, disappointment, budget concerns, "personalities" to deal with, and unexpected issues. While we had all the above and more to deal with Scrape the Plate was one of our shining stars!!! Scott was so easy to work with, very professional, patiently answered all my questions, helped us tweak the menu to fit the budget, made recommendations that were appreciated and listened to our needs and pulled it off without a hitch!! Our guests were wowed by the passed appetizers, rosemary roasted cashews for the cocktail hour and the dinner was fabulous! A few weeks down the road I am still given compliments on the catering. His entire staff worked seamlessly during the entire evening. Scott was amazing to work with from the very beginning, even making us homemade Shepards Pie on our exploratory visit. He was super flexible with our budget and even hosted a large tasting party with both sets of parents to help us decide on menu options. He was extremely knowledgeable about the logistics of catering parties & offered advice on everything from buffet location to appetizers distribution. His food was absolutely delicious and our guests raved about the off-beat menu that included roasted brussel sprouts with pancetta & stuffed pepper boats. Best of all he made a point to use local vendors in his preparations (e.g. Local Pig for the sausage, Shatto for the cheese, etc) which allowed us to showcase KC local farmer scene. His staff was also great and even helped our parents load gifts into cars at the end of the night. As a foodie bride myself, I'd highly recommend Scrape the Plate to any other couple who wants to treat their family & friends to a night of seriously tasty food! read more

We ate their delicious food last night. I have never eaten such delicious and tasteful food especially when it is catered. I have never liked Brussel sprouts, but these were so delicious. Their salad was fresh, the beef was tender and moist. I just wish you had a restaurant, so we could enjoy more of your food. read more

Scott was fantastic to work with and our guests raved about the food. He was very helpful with suggestions for what food would work well with our venue and overall vision for our wedding reception. The food quality was very high and the servers diligently bussed the tables kept the buffet tables clean and full. The prices were reasonable and Scott was creative in stretching our budget to accommodate a variety of food requests we had! I appreciated the allergy food labels on the buffet and had several guests tell me they were pleasantly surprised to see that. Scott was not present at the actual event, and I will say I never actually saw who was working the food or talked with them?? And so didn't ever get my bride & groom 'take away box' of food that I planned on having. My biggest regret is only eating a few bites of food myself during the night and once it was over and all the food packed up and gone it was too late. So I suggest making contact during your event and getting this squared away early as other brides warned me they never ate at their parties either and were too busy! read more
