He was so warm, so patient, so willing to adapt, and 100% focused on making sure I was happy and comfortable with my choice without feeling guilted or pressured into making payments or a decision simply to get done with my piece. He was not at all phased or dismissive of my nervousness. He was willing to give his time to feel comfortable with the process. He allowed me the space to feel ready, he comforted me when I said I was nervous or scared, he actively consulted his beautiful wife and business partner Emily so that I had the expertise of both of them in my tattoo! He had no ego, only gentleness and an attentive ear! He spoke with respect of the previous artist and simply listened and guided me thru the additions I was considering. He understood exactly what I wanted, was honest yet respetful as we went. He allowed my best friend to sit with me throughout the process and keep my mind distracted as he created a design that I did not think was possible. I walked in rather impulsively, just curious about a modification, but truly did not think a fix was possible without a massive redo and he proved me wrong. I told him that I regretted the tattoo placement I had previously because every time I turned my forearm I cringed it how it looked. I told him I wanted simple, feminine, butterflies, and flow...I wanted a cute peakaboo that I could still enjoy out of my sleeve. I wanted the piece to look good when I twisted my arm while I drove! These are exactly what he gave me. He created something that looks perfect from every angle. I could not be more pleased. I am already consulting him on my next peace. Dusty, thank you for being you! Today, I feel the excitement and joy I hoped for when I first got started on this piece months ago. You've turned possible regret into something awesome. I am beyond grateful! I came in today to get a tattoo that was significant to my brother in law, who our family lost almost a year ago. I was treated with compassion and respect by Dusty who earnestly listened to my stories about my BIL, who he was to me and why I chose the art I wanted him to do. Dusty did his magic and put his own heart and soul into the tattoo. It may have been small, but it was HUGE to me. Thank you Dusty! The artists have portfolios you can look through, or you can choose to have something drawn specifically for you. That's what I opted to do. I spent some time discussing my ideas and we set a time and date for me to come back. ( YAY! EXCITED! ) Second visit, and actual tattoo appointment. I was able to take a good look around the shop since I was there for over 4 hours. Shop supplies were neat and organized, overall cleanliness was very good. Keep in mind this was going to be a bit of a challenge. I had a HIDEOUS gigantor tattoo on my hip already and he was going to be working a miracle by putting something pretty on it. Two of the pieces I chose from her Available section on instagram (@misskittytattoo), and the half sleeve I came to her with an idea and trusted her to use her artistic eye and go wild. I love all three of the tattoos I've received from Kat, and not only is the work quality, but Kat makes the entire process feel luxe. Her shop itself has the coolest decor, and you can tell that she takes great pride in her space. She also makes sure that you know how to care for your tattoos afterwards in the healing process, and even gives you a goody bag to take home with aftercare. She is a true artist, and is very involved in the Jerome art scene. She has theme nights once a month, and puts in great effort to lift up other artists and businesses in her community. She also is so personable that sitting for a 6 hour tattoo feels like the time flies because there's great conversation and ease to being around Kat and her shop. Yes, Jerome may be a bit far out to get to, but it is worth the trip 10 times over to get a wearable piece of art from Kat.
