I had previously gotten my nose pierced at the Plainfield location & was not super impressed with the staff, cleanliness, or vibe. I was hesitant to try a different location for my tattoo because I assumed it would be the same. I was thoroughly impressed with the 28th street location. Very clean & bright, the staff was super friendly and funny too. My cousin & I went to get memorial tattoos for our late cousin. The staff was so fun & Danny did both of ours. The receptionist (I didnt catch her name) was so nice & personable, we both felt very at ease for our 1st tattoo experience. Definitely recommend here! read more

Got my ear lobes and my septum pierced in 1 visit I've questioned needing to take my septum out because it's visibly crooked and had plans to stretch it, 1 of my lobe piercings was done at about a 20 degree angle in a weird ass direction not to mention using borderline Clairs jewelry for them. I went to y'all about 4 years ago when I had asked to get my lobes and did, they by default used a 14 gauge needle and internally thread barbels I'd don't know what changed but screaming needle is the place to go if you want to get your shit fucked up. read more

I walked in in a Saturday afternoon to have an earring put back in that had fallen out. The piercing hole was still open, as the piercing had only fallen out a few weeks ago, & I had been inserting other earrings in occasionally to make sure the hole remained open--I want to include that I've had this triple forward piercing for 10 years. Went to screaming needle to have this done. No problems. Today, however, i met Kevin, who would place my earring back in for me. At first, I was taken back as he just walked up to me & grabbed my ear to look at it. Didn't say a word to me but told the woman at the front desk he would just "taper it". I had no idea what that meant, & to be honest, I've had these earrings fall out a couple other times, all they did is put another earring back in for me. No problems. Kevin just walked away from me & I had to ask the woman if I was supposed to follow him or wait for him to come back out as there was zero instruction from him. She told me to go to his room. He met me there and was very irritated. I tried being friendly & asked how his day was going. He let me know he's only had jewelry switch outs & that's it in the last hour or so...which I was one of them so that didn't make me feel very good. He told me to sit at the end of the table. He didn't say a word to me and literally tapered my ear for no reason. Didn't ask me if that was okay. Just went for it. Hurt like a b. Why not use a smaller gauge earring? Why not ask me if it's okay to taper? I didn't want that and wouldn't have allowed it if I had know what it was and what was coming next. I shrugged it off & thought maybe it was supposed to be sore. The tapered earring grew incredibly painful over the course of the next two days. It was definitely infected & angry. There was so much pus & the red swelling traveled all across my ear & started down my neck...I ended up having to go to the urgent care to seek help & start an antibiotic. It has been just over a week. The antibiotics thankfully helped, however, I can barely see the back of the earring. Here's the kicker...he didn't put in a long enough shaft to accommodate for the swelling, so I'm hoping the back of my earring isn't embedded into my skin now... All this to say, Kevin, if you had just been kind & had communicated with your customer, this could've avoided a lot of pain and problems for me. All I wanted was my earring to be put back in, as I have twice before this...with no issues. Sadly, I will never step foot into a screaming needle business again. read more

I tried to take my 3 yr old daughter to get her ears pierced here. Did my due diligence by calling and asking questions, HOURS before we were planning on going. Checked to see if we needed an appointment. They let me know what I needed to bring with me and that it was walk ins this week for piercings. Great. Drove 45 minutes to go here. Brought my 5 yr old also, because she has been wanting her ears pierced and wanted to watch the process. We walk in and the girl at the front said their policy is only one extra person in the room at a time, asked if I had someone that could sit with my 5 year old when I said no we just drove 45 minutes here, she asked if I could call someone to come up here. Again I said no. Then she asked if I would feel comfortable leaving my child alone in the vehicle while my 3 year old gets her ears pierced. Like that is what sent me over the edge. This "policy" should be listed on the website and when I called asking about getting a child's ears pierced they should have mention the "one extra person only" policy then. Will NOT ever be returning here, and would not suggest this place. read more

I went to get a walk in tattoo with my friend and the artist Eric was so bad that I refused to let him tattoo me after he botched my friend. He upcharged me for a tattoo that should have been cheaper and then when I didn't get the tattoo at all, they WOULDN'T GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. I didn't even get the tattoo. Literally crazy. My friend has nerve damage now in her fingers because he cut her up like a meat steak. Genuinely absolutely crazy. If I could choose one place to snuff out of existence it would be this location of screaming needle. If I could give negative stars I would. This stupid place would be my villain origin story. read more

My friend and I did a walk in piercing. The experience itself was not that bad. Kevin did exactly what we asked and had us out the door fairly quickly. However the ball on the hoop of my friends piercing fell off after about 2 days and mine lasted 4 before falling off. Now I have to keep checking the piercing for placement as we are not local. read more

Piercers that are full of themselves and rude. Act like they are too busy to answer your questions even when they aren't busy. Not that business should even be an issue when you have questions about getting a permanent hole in your body. No eye contact just looking down giving me responses like I was wasting his time with stupid questions. For someone who thought I didn't know what I was talking about I actually did and by asking those questions found out in return for a piercer he In fact did not know shit about those types of piercings at all. Glad I trusted my gut and didn't get any piercings done here. Based off the lack of responses to any of these reviews in the past 4+ years it definitely shows how little this place cares about its image. But hey you get what you pay for I guess. Well... The front desk worker was nice at least. I was nervous about getting a piercing done for so cheap. I went in to get a Medusa piercing because two other shops were out of the right jewelry and my usual place had closed down. A few people went ahead of me and I was the last person in the waiting area. The piercer called me back and he was very blunt with me. Not rude, but he seemed like he wanted to hurry and get this over with. He made a mark on my lip for my piercing and it looked good. Then he clamped my upper lip and pierced it from the inside of my lip. This made no sense to me because how can you see where you made the mark at?! To top it off he scraped my nose with the needle and it bled quite a bit. But the best part is how crooked and off center the piercing is. I really want to take it out but don't want to trap any infection or anything inside the piercing. So I'm stuck with a scraped nose and a crooked ugly piercing. Bottom line- you get what you pay for I guess. But I feel like a basic piercing shouldn't be super expensive or hard to get. I'm very sad with my experience and embarrassed with how my piercing looks. I do not recommend getting a piercing here. read more

Please never go to Screaming Needle. I came in to get a walk in tattoo last minute (I wanted something for my mom for Mother's Day) and Danny was the most unprofessional tattoo artist I've ever met and I have encountered plenty in my life. I wanted the tattoo placement in a specific spot because it was going right next to my grandfathers handwriting and I wanted in angled in a way that I was happy with (obviously because it's going on my body permanently so I wanted to be happy with it) I had him change the placement 3 times because it wasn't what I wanted. After that he got upset and threw the stencil at me and said "fine, you put it on yourself then." And walked away. I thought that I gave him such an easy outline and simple lines, but it honesty looks like someone who's never tattooed before picked up a machine and went at it. The line work is so horrible and not even close to the picture I gave him. I don't even know what to do now because it's a fine line tattoo and if it's fixed, it'll just become bulky and I don't want that. I'm just so upset because it was a tribute tattoo to my mom and it was completely botched. Good thing Danny told me he was going back to Minnesota in a couple weeks that he can't mess up anyone else's tattoo that chooses to come here (please don't) But the fact that he was even hired as a tattoo artist in the first place is very worrying. I had Chris do my piercing and I was also with my friend and Chris was extremely rude and disrespectful and I understand that if you're having a bad day that you're having a bad day but he was taking his bad day out on us it's like he was mad at me for not having a high pain tolerance but this is what you're supposed to do and I shouldn't get penalized for not having a high pain tolerance. read more

I typically go to the location in Allendale which is amazing, but went to this location when I couldn't get in with my normal tattoo artist. It was my friend and I, and we couldn't have had a worse experience. I can't speak for all their artists there, but Terrence, our tattoo artist, was one of the rudest and most incompetent people I've ever come across. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. My friend and I got a small, very simple line work design, it was literally the outline of a rectangle. When asked about it, he appeared so confused like he couldn't wrap his head around the concept of how to tattoo a literal rectangle.....when he finally got around to it he pressed so unbelievably hard that I was worried my tattoo would be too deep and blown out. Luckily mine has healed after a long worrisome week and a half, but my friends tattoo is still super red and really scabbed over. Her and I both have many tattoos and are aware of after care but we've never had a tattoo heal so weird like the one that this guy did. He pressed down WAY too hard and the healing process has not been normal. I'm grateful that mine is fine now, but my poor friend is still dealing with healing complications. It took this man two hours to complete these small tattoos and he went out to smoke a cigarette between every single one which made it take so much longer. On top of it, when it was finally my turn, he kept rushing me to choose where I wanted it on my body because they closed soon. They closed at 8, we arrived at 5:30. It was not our fault that he chose to take such a long time and the fact that he was rushing me on where I want to place a permanent tattoo was appalling. He also didn't say a word to either of us the entire time which made his rudeness even more uncomfortable to deal with. I've never had an artist be so shitty when it comes to clients who are polite and tip well. I will NEVER go to this location and if you're reading this review, I urge you to really think wisely before going here as well. If you do, I'm sure you'll be fine with any other artist but do not and I repeat, DO NOT go to Terrance. I'm sure the other artists are great but avoid him like you'd avoid running into your ex. Just not worth it. Screaming Needle has always been a great and professional place to get a tattoo done but I'd highly encourage this location to think twice about employing somebody like that who has no clue how to interact with others not to mention being professional. He also failed to even go over any after care instructions, instead he said nothing and and that was that. When we were done, my friend and I literally ran out of there because it was such a terrible experience. Don't do it!! read more
