Here for work and if you've followed me at all you know I review gyms. This gym isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn close. Met the owner, bubba, and he was polite and super friendly. Talked about other gyms and then carried on. Now most anytimes have precor. Not the best equipment around but thank God it's not matrix. He has all hammer strength and life fitness. Which is amazing mostly because he has three life fitness arc trainers. If you haven't used them, they look intimidating but they are by far the best cardio machine around. All the benefits of elliptical and running without the stress on knees/hips. You need to do yourself favor and check them out. Upstairs, here. Gym is clean. Not spotless but it's a gym. Have to appreciate a little stuff here and there. Most everything is maintained well. There is some spirding webbing on some benches and the precor cable machine upstairs has a hitch in it. But honestly all I saw that wasn't amazing. Layout is also great. It's pretty obvious he has a few gyms because the flow is good. I'll be in Slidell again, soon, and will be coming back here. He told me to go here and get some protein to help with the muscle building process. This store has lots of protien powders, drinks, vitamins and supplements. The guy working here was a sweetheart and helped me chose some protein powder that is really yummy. They have PT, massage, tanning, and group group training for an additional charge. A Steam room, sauna and showers are located in the locker room. Staff is always super friendly and welcoming. Let me elaborate, yesterday, as always, I'm at the gym early in the morning. I was finishing up at the Step-Mill and this trainer (JoJo) and another woman were being 'Chatty Cathy' nonstop for 20 min. I mean, gimme a break, if it's in the weight room area, at least, I can walk away to another machine but I'm on a step-mill for 30min so was kinda stuck. After I was done with my workout, I said to 'em, hey, do you gals realize that there are people trying to intensely working out around you and maybe tone it down a bit? Anyway, this morning when I went back to the gym, I saw Darlene at the front desk (I think, she's the director of daycare but was filling in for someone who's out on vacation). I mentioned yesterday's incident and asked if I sign could be posted for people to be quiet or at least, not have a nonstop conversation while working out just like we've 'etiquette to follow' sign in the weight area. Darlene's response, nope, it's a gym and people are gonna talk. Ok, you totally missed the point and it was one of the trainers (JoJo) who should have known better but never mind. Furthermore, Darlene tried to rationalize by saying that members are suppose to put their weights back but no one does. Well, who's job is it to enforce it? Otherwise, it's human nature and bad apples just like these 2 Chatty Cathy. I'm a member and here to workout in peace and quiet early in the morning. I'm not gonna be perturbed by someone who's obviously not serious about their workouts (low resistance level while holding a conversation and since we only have 3 step-mill machines so you're wasting your time and making others wait to use the machine 'opportunity cost'). If Darlene would have heard herself (excuses) out loud, she would have been better off simply shutting up to avoid any further embarrassment. To make the long story short, I'm not going to patronize an establishment (Cross gates @pontchartrain) which employs incompetent and attitude prone staff (trainer, director) who don't even know how to diffuse/ deescalate a situation. I am a platinum member who paid extra to use all 3 cross gates locations and with a family membership to boot (wife and a newborn for daycare) but cancelled it all because of rude and unprofessional staff. There are quite a few gym options in Slidell so moral of the story, be nice in the service industry or be gone. Irony is that cross gates has a sign outside in the plaza to attract new customers while they can't even hold on to the existing ones. Good Riddance!

Cons: it's not a 24/7 Planet Fitness- which is not always communicated as it should be aside from the regular staff hours being posted, but that's it- those are the hours. The 50% off drinks for members is limited to Powerade and water. After my first week, 6 out of 7 days, that's my unbiased review.

A worker saw that my screen was yellow upon check-in and assumed I was using a guest pass from a black card membership. She even threatened to not let me enter although my pass was a free day pass. Instead of apologizing for assuming I was attempting to enter the building without proper check-in procedure, the worker then said " Oh, you're good for today then." With no apology for assuming wrongly. I am utterly disgusted by her actions.

And watch out for their $3.00 credit card payment fees. If you say that you will pay in CASH, They will tack on a $5.00 fee and call it a NET(Non Electronic Transfer) fee. They will grab at your wallet in ways you cannot even imagine was possible. Watch these crooks closely if you do go to this dirty filthy place. Our Grandkids came down with Covid everytime they went into that daycare they have! Very Very Dirty Disgusting Place. Plan on being sick often if you go there!!!
