This farmers market packed in the feels (you will get a real countryside feel visiting this one) watching the locals and with the local bands playing Scottish music. The vendors are unique and the products they carry even more unique. You would feel drawn to almost every single tent. The tenants are warm and welcoming. The market is held on a community school backyard with a playground at the back. So if you are visiting with kids, plenty of options to manage the little tyrants. I got my toddler a very nice wooden bow & arrow and he loves it! We got wine, cheese, chocolate and everything was so good. I cannot explain but this market had that warm, happy, community vibe to it and that feeling is amazing. This will be my stop on every single visit to Victoria.

This one rates maybe slightly above average as we were able to find that awesome homemade souvenir from Canada compared to going to your run of the mill tourist souvenir shops. We probably would have had to walk into downtown for those souvenir stores but my wife decided otherwise & made a direct detour for the market. There were some savory food options as well as yummy looking desserts! We passed on those items & my wife looked straight for a particular set of Canadian homemade souvenirs. She was elated! Thankfully we happened to be in town on a Saturday when the farmer's market was only opened from 9-3 PM! Also we came prepared with Canadian money on hand to pay for our items. Woohoo! Many craftspeople were apparently very talented as it showed through their lovely artsy materials & craftsmanship. We also observed some people offering tastings of their foods too to tempt you! We heard entertainment & people were there to enjoy & there were seats for them as well! I was clearly very confused and the man she was talking to was very confused as my phone was by my side in my hand. But she continued to yell at me accusing me of taking photos of her or her booth I'm not sure but after I told her I have no idea what she is talking about she dropped it but no apology or anything just outright very rude and aggressive. This market was great but this one booth honestly made me not wanna go back to this market. This older woman was extremely scary. Angela is awesome she is very knowledgeable and willing to share her knowledge. This farm shows that communities benefit in many way by partnering with sustainable Aquafarmers. I am glad we stopped by to see their farm while on our way to Montana where we are starting a sustainable Aquaponics farm. There were at least a dozen food stalls selling anything from home baked bread, cookies, donuts, Mexican food, and Asian. There were stalls selling arts and crafts which are unique to Orca's. We picked up some lunch and enjoyed as the local band sweet music on the stage. A few folks and their kids got off the ground and started dancing. What a scene, as if it's out of a movie scene. It was truly magical.

That…read moreexcitement was enhanced, even more than I would confess, by the prospects of seeing what the farmers market looks like here. Orcas has a long and rich agricultural history and I've seen plenty of farms and roadside farm stands that stood vacant in Decemeber. I was stoked for summer. Cue COVID.... Well, I'm happy to report that the market was still happening. I'm glad they didn't throw in the towel on it, though from what I'm told it was vastly different this year. Oh, you can imagine that in previous years there wasn't a mandatory handwashing station at the entrance. And I imagine there weren't dots on the ground to indicate where you should wait in order to approach each booth one party at a time. But more importantly, I'm told that the market, even though it's small and mighty in its biggest years, was only very teeny this year. There were probably 7-8 booths there, and that made for a quick visit. Still, we bought some flowers at one booth, and a bar of locally made soap at another, so we did our best to support the vendors who are making an effort despite the restrictions. I have nothing but love for a farmers market, and nothing but admiration for the participants. Though we were only here for a little bit, I'm glad we made it.
