As we stepped into our 2nd story room our son walked in from the back door. How is this? Well, as you walk out of your "balcony" door you step onto the lawns and trails that overlook the cliffs and the Giant Causeway. There is nothing I can write or pictures I can show to express the beautiful views and the looks on our kids faces. We went down one of the trails [away from the Giants Causeway] before dinner knowing that the next morning we had a reservation to go down the trail to the Giant Causeway rock formations. Dinner was fantastic and the service was great. We had a very reasonably priced bottle of wine and the kids had some beers and/or cocktails. The following morning we enjoyed the breakfast just as much; they also offered some Continental Breakfast items like croissants, Danishes and cereals. The receptions helped set up our appointment with Giant's Causeway visit center next door. She and all the employees we encountered were all very nice, friendly and professional.

The "gentleman" at the front desk was not honest about what was booked or not available and was rude to boot. Not only that the travel cot we paid for is nowhere to be found. There's no elevator, the bathroom needs some attention and everything else is dingy and worn. Just realized the WiFi is not working, so one more thing we paid for and didn't get.

The inside is warm, homely and inviting with broad wood beams along the ceiling and just a generally olde world feeling. The food is amazing and I can highly reccommend the steak and guiness pie. All meals are beautifully presented and good sized portions. You wouldnt get much change from £50 for a meal for two but I think for food and atmosphere like the one at The Bushtown its perfectly reasonable. The staff are very helpful and accommadating to your needs. Children welcome and disabled access available. They also host wedding receptions frequently and have live bands in one or two nights a week. During the summer they will also have some stage shows for the younger kids to attend.

The house is conveniently located on Port Ellen such that access to the restaurants, pubs, shops and shoreline are no more than a few minutes away by foot. Walking to the three close whisky distilleries of Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg is done in under an hour, one way. You may want to book transport back, depending on how much you sampled! The rooms are clean and tidy for a couple or single accommodations with en-suite shower and toilet for three of the rooms and a dedicated combination for the fourth room. To go along with the primary accommodations, the breakfast and general communal area is downstairs where a satisfying and freshly prepared breakfast is served according to your specifications, recorded the day before. Niall is prompt and flexible on setting your meal before you with your satisfaction foremost. I cannot stress more strongly how helpful Niall has been on advising me about Islay, setting up tours, getting restaurant reservations or advice on Glasgow accommodations. Top notch!

So, he got his car and drove us to the harbor area so that we could get dinner before their kitchens closed. The location is actually really close to the center. We were able to walk back just fine. Our room was very clean and spacious with a bedroom, dressing room and bathroom. In the bathroom there was a tub and shower. Everything worked in all of the rooms and that is important to me as an engineer. Outside you are surround by farmland, yet it is only 10 minutes to town. The breakfast was excellent with eggs fixed your way, sausage, Irish bacon, many types of breads, and preserves. All of the foods are sourced locally and the breads were baked at the B&B. We look forward to another night at this nice inn.

At the end of the evening we had a lovely stroll along the side of the loch back home.

The house is beautiful, I love the decor and amazing collection of items they have from their travels. Bob was a fantastic host and welcomed us with tea and conversation. He was very helpful with attraction and food recommendations. The bedroom and bathroom was clean and very comfortable. We had a great view from our bedroom window. The house is in a central location to everything we wanted to do. Just a few miles from the rope bridge, Giant's Causeway and the Dark Hedges. There are few few small towns nearby in either direction with options for food and drink. One of my favorite things of staying here was having Bob's delicious breakfast. The food was great and the breakfast room was gorgeous. I would love to come back and stay here again, this house and the area were my favorite of my whole vacation.
